His teammate, Enea Bastianini, made a late charge, overtaking Marc Marquez for third and then snatching second place from title leader Jorge Martin at the final corner. A win for Marquez would have continued Ducati's pattern of milestone victories. However, the Gresini rider missed the podium for the first time since his fall at COTA. Before the race started, Bagnaia received a three-place grid penalty for blocking Alex Marquez on Friday, dropping him to fifth. This pushed Maverick Vinales to second and Marc Marquez to the front row behind pole-sitter Martin. Despite the penalty, Bagnaia surged from seventh to first by Turn 2 and maintained his lead throughout the race.

On the penultimate lap, Bastianini elbowed Marquez wide to reclaim third place. He swiftly passed Martin, who is anticipated to take his factory seat in 2025. This manoeuvre highlighted Bastianini's aggressive racing style. Meanwhile, Fabio di Giannantonio relegated Vinales to eighth, leaving KTM rookie Pedro Acosta as the only non-Ducati rider in the top seven.

Aleix Espargaro had a disappointing weekend, finishing 11th for Aprilia. Miguel Oliveira and Raul Fernandez of Trackhouse concluded the race in 12th and 14th, respectively. Alex Rins brought home the last championship point for Yamaha in 15th place, with VR46's Marco Bezzecchi separating the two Trackhouse riders. Yamaha struggled to convert their strong practice pace into race results. Quartararo's 18th-place finish was particularly disheartening. The championship leader, Jorge Martin, had a crash, forcing him to withdraw. Bagnaia, the reigning world champion, dominated the race from beginning to end. Although Marquez narrowed the gap briefly, Bagnaia held onto his lead. Rookie Pedro Acosta secured third place after Martin's crash, a good way to celebrate his promotion to KTM for the 2025 season and beyond. Enea Bastianini and Martin initially chased Bagnaia but collided, leading to Bastianini's crash. While there was an investigation, no penalties were issued. Unfortunately for Martin, he crashed out after Marquez overtook him. Initially slowed by Brad Binder, Acosta swiftly caught up and overtook the South African rider. Miguel Oliveira and Fabio Quartararo also crashed out early in the race.

Raul Fernandez secured a solid sixth place for the Trackhouse team in the race standings, while Alex Marquez and Aleix Espargaro followed closely in eighth and ninth, respectively. Further down the pack, Jack Miller and Marco Bezzecchi trailed behind, with Alex Rins of Yamaha making a commendable recovery from a poor start to finish 13th.

Unfortunately, on lap six, Marquez lost the front at Turn 15, which sent him out of the race. Despite being severely disheartened, Marquez escaped the crash unscathed. The Spaniard said that 'Honda have riders with a winner mentality' in a post-race interview.&nbsp;

He further said, 'If you put in riders with a winner mentality, and you don’t have the chance to be up there, the problem is that you will crash more and more times because we are pushing more than the others to be on that lap time. And this is what happened. After losing momentum on Lap 1, both Binder and Miller began to drop positions, and Alex Marquez passed Zarco for seventh. Marquez crashed in the penultimate curve when he set up a move on Marini, but the Repsol Honda rider was out quite wide before losing the front-end. Yellow flags were raised in sector three after Miguel Oliveira crashed, but the margin between Bagnaia and Martin stayed unchanged at 0.5 seconds.&nbsp;

Bagnaia, riding the factory Ducati GP23, began the race from pole position after winning the MotoGP World Championship, but he was forced to work hard by a rotation of his satellite stablemates in what turned out to be another sometimes frenetic Sprint to the flag. At the end of March, during the Sprint race in Portimao, the Ducati Lenovo Team rider hurt his right shoulder. He had planned to compete in the French Grand Prix in Le Mans, but he withdrew due to soreness and fatigue while riding his Desmosedici GP. He spoke with medical professionals and his team and ultimately opted to rest until the Italian Grand Prix in Mugello at the beginning of June.&nbsp;

Felipe Massa has announced that he will retire from Formula One after the 2016 season.
Bringing an end to a 14 year run in Formula One, Felippa Massa has decided that he will move on to greener pastures after the end of the 2016 season. Massa will finish his F1 career with a total of 250 grand prix starts to his name.
The Brazilian driver started off his career when he debut for Sauber in 2002, followed by a sabbatical year with Ferrari as a test driver. Massa returned to Sauber for 2004-05 after which he re-joined Ferrari as a permanent driver to race along side Michael Schumacher. Massa raced for the Italian team for eight seasons racing along side Schumacher, Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso, being the second-longest serving driver after Schumacher. He then moved to Williams Martini Racing in 2014 and now after three full seasons with the British team, with 41 podiums, 11 wins, 16 pole positions and 15 fastest laps to his name, Massa will retire from the sport as the end of the season.
Massa decided to announce his retirement at Monza, just prior the Italian Grand Prix, where Schumacher had announced his first retirement which allowed Massa to continue racing for Ferrari and continue his F1 career.
“My career has been more than I ever expected and I am proud of what I have achieved,” said Massa. “Finally, it is a great honour to finish my career at such an amazing team as Williams Martini Racing. It will be an emotional day when I finally conclude my Formula One career with my 250th Grand Prix start in Abu Dhabi.”
Following the Belgian GP, where Max Verstappen’s move on the Ferrari’s in the race seemed questionable by some, Raikkonen and Vettel did pay a visit to the stewards for a talk about the young Dutchman’s driving style.
Raikkonen commented “Personally I have nothing against Max. He is doing a good job and he’s fast. It's not a personal thing but certain things, at least in my feeling, were not correct if you have to slow down or brake under full speed but those things are never ending discussions but let’s see what happens.”
“Not really an awful lot to discuss except probably he said sorry and I said OK and you know we go forward. It wasn’t ideal for us or any of the three to be involved, but that’s how it goes sometimes,” he added.
Responding to the criticism, Verstappen felt he shouldn’t have to change his driving style just because other drivers on the gird think he should. He said “all these talks are a bit foolish. You, of course, want to defend your position - and if somebody wants to attack that’s up to him. And just because somebody eventually says that you should change your driving style… that’s nonsense.”
After his massive accident on top of the hill at Eau Rouge during the Belgian GP, Kevin Magnussen had suffered a minor injury to his ankle during the crash from which he has now recovered. Magnussen has been medically cleared to race for the Italian GP for Renault.
