Tata Motors-owned Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) India has released its sales figures for the first quarter of the financial year 2025, clocking over 30 percent year-over-year (YoY) growth. The automaker sold&nbsp;1,371 units compared to the same period of the last financial year ending March 2024 (1,048 units). Furthermore,&nbsp;JLR said&nbsp;its wholesale volumes grew over 45 percent year-over-year in Q1 FY2025,&nbsp;creating record sales for the automaker.&nbsp;

JLR attributed this growth to its <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/land-rover/defender/">Defender</a> and&nbsp;<a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/land-rover/range-rover/">Range Rover</a> lineups. The Defender along with the Range Rover Evoque accounted for over 50 percent sales growth, with the former emerging as the highest-selling model in Q1 FY2025. Moreover, the combined sales of the Range Rover,&nbsp;Range Rover Sport,&nbsp;and Defender made up 75 percent of the company's total order book.

'Our performance is tracking favourably as per our expectations. Alongside our robust sales, our order bank also grew by 10 percent compared to the beginning of the fiscal year, showing continuous growth in demand while we continue to enhance our supplies into the market,'&nbsp;said Rajan Amba, Managing Director, JLR India.

Rajan added, 'The Defender remains the most sought-after model, and with the extraordinary response to the locally manufactured Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, the company remains confident of sustaining this momentum and delivering another successful year.&nbsp;The Indian market is responding well to our exciting product lineup, and we are committed to our discerning clientele as we continue to create the world’s most desirable luxury vehicles.'

In the Indian market, JLR currently retails the Range Rover, Defender, <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/land-rover/discovery/">Discovery</a>, and the Jaguar F-Pace SUV. Speaking of which, the company recently added the&nbsp;most extreme and powerful&nbsp;model to the Defender lineup in India. Called the Octa, the model is&nbsp;priced from&nbsp;Rs 2.65 crore for the standard variant to Rs 2.85 crore for the Edition One. The bookings for both models are underway.

The Range Rover LWB and the&nbsp;Range Rover Sport, on the other side, will now be&nbsp;locally assembled in the country&nbsp;at JLR’s Chakan plant, joining the Velar, Evoque, Jaguar F-Pace,&nbsp;and Discovery Sport in the JLR’s&nbsp;lineup of vehicles produced locally. The&nbsp;Range Rover LWB starts&nbsp;at Rs&nbsp;2.36 crore, while the Range Rover Sport asks for Rs 1.40 crore. The prices are ex-showroom.&nbsp;

The Land Rover Defender along with the Range Rover Evoque accounted for over 50 per cent sales growth, with the former emerging as the highest-selling model in Q1 FY2025.

Jaguar Land Rover India (JLR India) has announced a massive jump in sales in the first half of FY2023-24. In the April-September 2023 period, the Indian arm of the British manufacturer managed to sell 2,356 vehicles across the country, registering a&nbsp;growth of 105 per cent in comparison to the same period last year. JLR India said, of the 2,356 units sold, the brand's best-seller,&nbsp;the Land Rover Defender, accounted for about 43 per cent (or 1,000 units) of total sales. Other models&nbsp;that contributed to the brand's sales growth include the Land Rover Range Rover, the Range Rover Sport, and the updated Range Rover Velar. Moreover, JLR India's order book also rose. It currently&nbsp;has&nbsp;90 per cent of units yet to be delivered&nbsp;– 70 per cent for either the Range Rover, the Range Rover Sport, or the Defender. Meanwhile, the Range Rover has garnered over 750 bookings in India.&nbsp;

In terms of quarter-wise sales, the manufacturer delivered 1,308 units in the July-September period, reporting a year-on-year growth of 108 per cent. In the used car segment, it posted a growth of 83 per cent in H1 FY2023-24.

<h2>Range Rover Velar Facelift: Exterior, Interior, Powertrain</h2>

The&nbsp;Range Rover Velar continues to see strong customer demand owing to its unparalleled styling, tech-based amenities, etc. Priced at Rs 93 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the facelifted model receives a few subtle design changes over its predecessor, including&nbsp;a large grille, pixel LED headlights with modified DRLs, wide air vents, a shark-fin antenna, a sloped windscreen, wrap-around taillamps, and a new bumper. Meanwhile, the interior highlights include&nbsp;a new&nbsp;11.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with&nbsp;Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity,&nbsp;a digital instrument cluster,&nbsp;heated seats, auto climate control,&nbsp;an air purifier, a multifunctional steering wheel, a wireless charger, and more.&nbsp;

Underneath the bonnet, the&nbsp;facelifted version gets&nbsp;two engine options: a 2.0-litre petrol engine&nbsp;and a 2.0-litre diesel unit with a mild-hybrid system. The petrol unit cranks out 247bhp and 365Nm, while the diesel mill generates 201bhp and 430Nm. For transmission, both motors use an 8-speed automatic gearbox. JLR claims that it has a top speed of 217km/h.&nbsp;In terms of market competition, the&nbsp;Range Rover Velar facelift locks horns with the&nbsp;Jaguar F-Pace, the Porsche Macan, and more.

<h2>Mercedes-Benz India Sales Performance From&nbsp;Jan. to Sept.&nbsp;</h2>

In January to September 2023 period, Mercedes-Benz India delivered a total of 12,768 units in the country, representing a year-over-year (YoY) sales growth of 11 per cent.&nbsp;In comparison to the same period last year, the automaker&nbsp;sold 11,469 units.&nbsp;Mercedes-Benz said that these numbers were achieved despite&nbsp;supply constraints,&nbsp;which delayed&nbsp;the deliveries of the GLA, the GLC, and the GLS. Besides, about 25 per cent&nbsp;of cumulative&nbsp;sales came from top-end vehicles (TEVs), such as the GLS,&nbsp;S-Class,&nbsp;GLS Maybach,&nbsp;S-Class Maybach,&nbsp;AMGs, and the EQS.

Jaguar Land Rover India recorded the best-ever half-yearly sales in FY2024 after it sold 2,356 vehicles. The company announced that about 43% of its sales were due to the Land Rover Defender.

JLR India marks its 10th anniversary in India by loaning a specially-prepped Land Rover Discovery Sport to Rapid Response NGO to be used for&nbsp;disaster-relief work across India.

In order to enhance the country's disaster-response force, especially with the prevailing monsoon season, JLR India has played its part in this mission by loaning a specially-prepped Land Rover Discovery Sport to the Rapid Response NGO. Rapid Response is actively involved in disaster management &amp; emergency crisis response services across&nbsp;India, since its inception in 2013. The Discovery Sport is expected to be utilised as an emergency responder, to provide medical assistance &amp; food distribution in remote areas of the country. Further, the event also marks JLR India's 10th anniversary.

Sharing his thoughts, Rohit Suri, President &amp; MD at JLR India said,&nbsp;'Land Rover vehicles, such as the Discovery Sport, are renowned for their capability in tackling difficult terrains and situations caused by floods and other such catastrophic events. On the occasion of completion of 10 years of Jaguar Land Rover in India, we are proud to offer a Land Rover to aid the team at Rapid Response in their efforts to help victims of such natural calamities in India.'

There's no doubt that the modern-day car buying experience involves digital media platforms to a great extent. Therefore, premium carmakers are leaving no stone unturned when it comes to providing a digital product buying experience to their customers.

As a move to keep up with the ever-changing digital scene, JLR India has given its online car buying platforms some crucial interface and featural updates. First launched in 2016, the two bespoke platforms started the trend of online vehicle booking in the luxury car industry, allowing customers to book new or pre-owned (JLR Approved) vehicles online by paying a deposit from anywhere and at any time. The platforms also enable customers to request for a quotation or book a test drive.

With the latest-gen updates, both platforms now offer more user-friendly navigation, a cleaner and more dynamic homepage with a swipe-based carousel that highlights the month’s packages and special offers. Customers can select their vehicle from a variety of filters – Model, Variant and Engine, Price, Colour and Availability during a specific period. Further, customers can either opt for a ready-delivery vehicle or order one for delivery at a later date.

The platform also offers an option for existing JLR customers to offer their existing vehicle for a trade-in and get an evaluation quote (estimate) if it meets the applicable JLR criteria. Customers can also contact the dealership for a visiting appointment via a customer care executive or through online chat.
