The base variant holds steady at USD 54,900, but the Light Long Range version now carries a reduced price tag of USD 57,900, down from its earlier cost of USD 59,900. Meanwhile, the EV9 Land has been repriced at USD 69,900, and the range-topping GT-Line now costs USD 73,900, marking a modest increase from its former USD 71,900. </p>

<p><strong>autoX Awards 2024:</strong> If you had to describe the Kia EV9 in one word, it would probably be ‘massive’, or perhaps ‘imposing’. Well, you see, with its slab-sided styling, massive five-metre length, and flat front face, the EV9 has an undeniable presence on the road. The big wheels, striking digital headlights, and expansive glasshouse make it impossible to mistake the EV9 for anything else on the road. As Kia’s flagship model in the Indian market, it’s the interior that truly stands out.</p>

<p>The EV9’s interior features beautifully finished surfaces and a modern, clean layout, complemented by multiple digital screens, which lend the interior a high-tech feel. This is further enhanced by its Level 2 ADAS functionality, which, along with 10 airbags and passive safety features, make it truly cutting-edge. The other thing that really impressed the jury was the amount of space inside the EV9 and the ultra-comfortable seats upholstered in premium leatherette.</p>

<p>When I first took the EV9 out on the track, I must admit, my expectations were quite low for two reasons – &nbsp;its five-metre length and its weight of just under 2.7 tonnes, thanks to its hefty 99.8kWh battery pack. So, naturally, I thought it would be a body roll fest trying to hustle it around. But this is where the EV9 completely surprised all of us, Despite its size and weight, it was simply brilliant to drive.</p>

<p>With its 700Nm of torque and 380bhp, it turned out to be one of the top 10 fastest cars in this year’s jury round. The smoothness of power delivery, taut suspension with minimal body roll, and impressive cornering ability made it a hoot to drive. Remarkably, once behind the wheel, the EV9’s size becomes far less apparent, as the SUV feels as though it shrinks around you.</p>

<p>The major challenge for the EV9 is undoubtedly its price – at ₹1.3 crore (ex-showroom), it is undeniably expensive. The bigger question, however, is whether Indian customers will be willing to spend this kind of money on a Kia. While the EV9 certainly has the tech specs to rival products from luxury brands, it remains to be seen if it can command the same level of brand value and prestige. This is something that will be interesting to observe, both for us and <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/kia/">Kia</a> over the next year or so.</p>

Kia India has just launched two of its most hotly anticipated models in the country, the new Kia Carnival 2024 and the new Kia EV9 full-size electric SUV. The New Carnival 2024 gets a starting price of Rs 63.9 lakh (ex-showroom) and the New EV9 electric SUV gets a price tag of Rs 1.29 Crore (ex-showroom).

<p><a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/kia/">Kia India</a> has launched its <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/kia/ev9/">EV9</a> three-row electric SUV that debuted in India in a concept guise at the Auto Expo 2023. The electric SUV joins the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/kia/ev6/">EV6</a> (Rs 60.97 lakh–Rs 65.97 lakh, ex-showroom) in Kia India's EV lineup as a fully imported model. At Rs 1.30 crore (ex-showroom), the Kia EV9 will set its competition with the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/audi/q8-e-tron/">Audi Q8 e-tron</a>, the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/mercedes-benz/eqe-suv/">Mercedes-Benz EQE</a>, and other luxury electric SUVs. The new flagship electric SUV is based on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) that underpins the Kia EV6 and the Hyundai Ioniq 5. The Kia EV9 comes with a 99.8kWh battery pack that claims an ARAI-certified range of 561km on a single charge, and can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in 24 minutes using a 350kW fast charger.</p>

<p>With a dual electric motors setup, the EV9 is rated for 379bhp and 700Nm of peak torque, resulting in a 0–100km/h acceleration time of 5.3 seconds. It also offers vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology, enabling owners to power electric appliances with the vehicle's onboard battery pack.</p>

<h2>Kia EV9: Exterior</h2>

<p>The EV9 is the Kia's biggest and most expensive SUV offered globally. It has a two-box shape with design cues similar to those of the EV3 and the EV5 sold abroad. Up front, the vehicle has a vertical headlamp design with Star Map LED DRLs (daytime running lights), as well as Kia's signature Tiger Nose grille with a single air vent.</p>

<p>In profile, the EV9 gets a flat roofline, flush-fitting door handles, and aero alloys with sharp wheel inserts. The wheel size ranges from 20 to 22 inches. The meticulously created rear fascia has a vertical taillamp cluster, a prominent roof spoiler, and Kia lettering on the tailgate. Kia offers the EV9 in five exterior colour options – Snow White Pearl, Ocean Blue, Pebble Gray, Panthera Metal, and Aurora Black Pearl. In terms of size, the EV9 is 5,015mm long, 1,980mm wide, and 1,780mm tall. It features a 3,100mm-long wheelbase and a 198mm ground clearance.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The three-row EV9 is available in a single&nbsp;GT-Line AWD variant with captain seats for the second row, which are power-adjustable in 8 ways and benefit from a massaging&nbsp;function and under-thigh support. This premium model&nbsp;will be available in two well-equipped variants, both featuring a 2.0-litre diesel engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard. The Carnival will come in two exterior colours – Black and White – and will be offered in the Limousine and Limousine Plus trims.&nbsp;The design elements&nbsp;include&nbsp;a&nbsp;wider tiger-nose grille, vertically stacked LED headlamps (with&nbsp;'Star Map' LED running lamps), power-sliding doors,&nbsp;new 18-inch alloy wheels, and&nbsp;connected&nbsp;LED taillamps.&nbsp;This revamped&nbsp;model, set to be brought into the country as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 40 lakh to Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom).</p>

The car will&nbsp;come&nbsp;with additional features, including a panoramic sunroof and likely a larger touchscreen. In terms of performance, BYD has confirmed improvements over the previous model, potentially offering the more powerful 201bhp and 310Nm electric motor seen in the BYD M6 sold in global markets.
