<p><a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/ktm/">KTM</a> is developing&nbsp;the&nbsp;990 SMT (Supermoto Touring), which combines the supermoto concept with the touring ability of an adventure bike. The KTM 990 SMT is designed to be tall, just like the KTM 990 Adventure, and borrows some elements from the Duke and Adventure models to set itself apart.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The&nbsp;990 SMT bike is powered by a liquid-cooled 947cc parallel-twin&nbsp;engine, which&nbsp;also powers the KTM 990 Duke. This&nbsp;LC8c engine complies with Euro5+ regulations and features&nbsp;new pistons, a rebuilt crankshaft, and conrods. In the 2024 KTM 990 Duke, the engine&nbsp;makes 123bhp at 9,500rpm and 103Nm of peak torque at 6,750rpm. While the company has yet to reveal the power and torque figures of the KTM 990 SMT, it is expected to deliver less power and torque than the 990 Duke. The transmission, however, will be the same 6-speed unit, accompanied by a quick-shifter.</p>

<h2>KTM 990 SMT: Wheels, Tyres</h2>

<p>While the KTM 990 SMT looks similar to the 990 Adventure, they have different wheels and tyres. The test mule of the 990 SMT gets a 17-inch alloy wheel with a 120/70 road-oriented tyre at the front, whereas the 990 Adventure is available with a larger 21-inch wheel&nbsp;at the front. At the rear, the 990 SMT will likely get a 180/55&nbsp;ZR17 tyre, similar to the 990 Duke.&nbsp;</p>

<h2>KTM 990 SMT: Similarities with 990 Adventure</h2>

<p>The&nbsp;KTM 990 SMT gets what appears to be an LED projector headlamp with&nbsp;LED daytime running lights. Other noticeable elements include a&nbsp;muscular fuel tank, a tall visor, and high-mounted LED indicators.&nbsp;</p>

KTM 990 SMT Spied in Europe, Shows 990 Adventure-like Design but Smaller 17-inch Alloy Wheels

The KTM 990 SMT, spotted undergoing testing in Europe, draws power from the same liquid-cooled, 947cc, parallel-twin engine as the 2024 KTM 990 Duke.

<p>The new KTM 990 Adventure has been spotted undergoing testing with a rally-inspired design ahead of its global launch. The company ceased production of the bike in 2013. However, it seems that the company is planning to reintroduce the model in the global market to compete in the broader ADV class, which is already occupied by manufacturers like Triumph, Ducati, Honda, and Suzuki.&nbsp;The most recent spy images show the upcoming ADV with a new front profile and a rally-style appearance.&nbsp;It features a single projector LED headlight, compact LED DRLs on both sides, a new upswept exhaust, a sleek one-piece seat, split fuel tanks, split side radiators with separate cooling fans, and a revised lightweight subframe.</p>

<p>The test mule features new hardware, including a frame and swingarm design, which could enhance riding dynamics and comfort. Its suspension system consists of a front USD fork and a rear mono-shock, both of which are presumably adjustable. The spotted version has wire-spoke wheels, likely measuring 21 inches at the from and 17 inches at the rear.&nbsp;It is equipped with two discs up front with radially mounted callipers and one disc at the rear with a floating calliper.</p>

<p>The 990 Adventure is expected to come equipped with a large vertically-mounted colour TFT screen, most likely with touch sensitivity, ABS modes, riding modes, traction control, and smartphone compatibility.</p>

<p>Although&nbsp;there's no official comment on the 990 Adventure's introduction, industry rumours indicate that the bike could be ready for production by the end of 2025 and reach international markets by 2026.</p>

<p>The Austrian manufacturer released a trailer of its first-ever automatic motorcycle being ridden at the Erzberg Prologue track in a prototype form.&nbsp;The new AMT (automatic) prototype, driven by FIM World Enduro champion Johnny Aubert,&nbsp;participated in last week's off-road-focused Red Bull Erzbergrodeo event, indicating the imminent arrival of the new clutchless adventure motorcycle.&nbsp;The clutch lever appears to be absent from the AMT prototype, based on the trailer. On the left handlebar, two new switches are added instead, which are presumably shift-up and shift-down buttons for changing gears. That said, the left-shift lever is still available.&nbsp;</p>
