autoX Awards 2024:&nbsp;That the Italians know style is certainly not a revelation. That <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/maserati/">Maserati</a> embodies this isn’t surprising either. That this is a stylish compact SUV – inside and out – is very clear. After all, that Trident on the bonnet has adorned some of the most stylish machines ever conceived.

This one, though, finds itself in a very competitive segment. And, with a price tag of ₹1.3 crores, it’s certainly not doing itself any favours. Nor is the fact that it’s come to the party with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder motor. Yes, it produces 325 horsepower, and, yes, it actually drives exceptionally well, but there’s simply no getting away from the fact that you’re paying almost a crore-and-a-half on-road for a car with a four-cylinder motor.

Forget about that for a second though, and you can revel in what is a very athletic SUV – one that’s spritely and fits the bill perfectly if you want a uniquely stylish SUV that has both kerb appeal as well as driving pleasure. Think of it that way and it actually makes a lot of sense. Especially when you consider that the cabin is covered in swathes of Italian leather, and the tech – thanks to the many touchscreens – is actually pretty good too.

Start to push it on track and it doesn’t go to pieces. On the contrary, the engine has some grunt, the chassis is athletic, and the adaptive dampers mean that it’s got not just plenty of roadholding but a lot of versatility too in terms of ride comfort. The biggest problem on track was that the speed warning, which comes up at both 80km/h and 120km/h, takes over the entire tach counter. So, if you’re attempting to monitor revs to change gears manually via the perfectly placed and well sized shift paddles, you’ll have to think again.

Other than that, this is a car that looks and feels properly exotic. Shame about the price though. Well, unless you’re willing to pay the price for exclusivity. If that’s the case, you won’t be disappointed.

<h2>Maserati GranTurismo: Design Updates</h2>

The low-slung look and flowing lines of the previous-gen&nbsp;Maserati GranTurismo are carried over into the latest iteration, which keeps an evolutionary design. A&nbsp;Maserati Trident logo adorns the front end, while the bumper has splitters and large vents. Vents behind the grille are one of the new improvements, directing excess&nbsp;air across the car's body. Furthermore, the side profile retains the distinctive triple vent design, found on Maserati cars.

With the addition of sleeker triangular&nbsp;taillamps, the rear design has also evolved from the previous model. Although the all-electric Folgore variant&nbsp;has the same overall appearance, it can be identified as an electric vehicle thanks to updated bumpers and Folgore fender badging.

<h2>Maserati GranTurismo: Interior Details</h2>

The GranTurismo's interior underwent&nbsp;a significant overhaul, with several&nbsp;physical buttons replaced by touch-based controls and digital panels.&nbsp;An adjustable digital screen can now be found in place&nbsp;of the standard analogue watch&nbsp;on the dashboard.&nbsp;The cabin also features a digital instrument display and a&nbsp;big&nbsp;central touchscreen.&nbsp;There is&nbsp;an additional&nbsp;8.8-inch touchscreen below the primary 12.3-inch screen that handles the air conditioning and seat adjustments.

<h2>Maserati GranTurismo: Powertrain Options</h2>

Coming to the mechanicals, the new 3.0-litre Nettuno V6 engine, which comes in two configurations, powers the petrol GranTurismo.&nbsp;With a top speed of 302km/h and outputs of 483bhp&nbsp;and 600Nm, the base-spec "Modena" model can go from 0 to 100km/h in 3.9 seconds. On the other hand,&nbsp;the performance-oriented "Trofeo" model belts out&nbsp;550bhp of maximum power&nbsp;and 650Nm of peak torque. It&nbsp;accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 3.5 seconds and reaches a peak&nbsp;speed of 320km/h.&nbsp;

A tri-motor all-wheel-drive system with an overall&nbsp;output of 751bhp&nbsp;and 1,350Nm propells the all-electric GranTurismo Folgore. The&nbsp;top speed of the model stands at&nbsp;325km/h, and it can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 2.7 seconds. On top of that, the EV&nbsp;houses&nbsp;a 92.5kWh battery,&nbsp;providing&nbsp;a range of up to 450 km&nbsp;on a full charge.

<h2>Maserati GranTurismo: Competition Check</h2>

In India, the Maserati GranTurismo ICE variants&nbsp;will take on the likes of&nbsp;the Bentley Continental GT, Ferrari Roma, Aston Martin Vantage, and Porsche 911.&nbsp;Meanwhile, upon launch next year,&nbsp;the electric version will face off against the Audi RS e-tron GT and Porsche Taycan.

The first two are ICE models, whereas the third is an electric variant. Although there hasn't been a formal announcement, the Italian carmaker will bring the car here in ICE form first, followed by an electric configuration sometime&nbsp;later. In its ICE configuration, the GranTurismo runs on a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine (situated behind the front axle), which produces&nbsp;483bhp/600Nm and&nbsp;550bhp/650Nm, in the base Modena and performance-focused Trofeo models, respectively.&nbsp;The entry-level model boasts a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 302km/h. In contrast, the more powerful Trofeo features a sprint time of 3.5 seconds and a maximum speed of 320km/h.&nbsp;While Maserati has yet to make an announcement, we&nbsp;anticipate both of these models to go on sale in India.&nbsp;

<h2>Maserati GranTurismo: Exterior and Interior</h2>

While embracing a modern style, the second-gen&nbsp;GranTurismo&nbsp;keeps the low-slung posture and sleek lines of the previous generation model.&nbsp;It has big vents on the front bumper, a splitter,&nbsp;a massive Maserati Trident emblem within the grille,&nbsp;slender vertical headlights, and slim triangle taillights. The GranTurismo's interior now boasts several touch-based controls and digital panels in place of the traditional buttons. Maserati is all set to launch the new GranTurismo in India on 30 August 2024. The new Maserati GranTurismo is available in three models globally: Modena, Trofeo, and Folgore. The first two are ICE versions, while the third is an electric model.

At the 2024 Monterey Car Week in California, Maserati revealed&nbsp;the track-ready GT2 Stradale.&nbsp;The vehicle was displayed with Maserati's track-only MCXtrema and its recently launched MC20 Icona in North America. The Maserati GT2 Stradale, which debuted in July 2023, is essentially the road-legal variant of the GT2. It receives several modifications to reduce weight and increase power output from the Nettuno V6 engine.&nbsp;The starting price of the new <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/maserati/">Maserati car</a> is still under wraps, but it will undoubtedly fall between the USD 242,995 (about Rs 2.04 crore) starting price of the MC20 and USD 522,000&nbsp;(roughly Rs 4.37 crore), which is the price of the track-day version of the GT2.

<h2>Maserati GT2 Stradale: Cosmetic Front</h2>

In terms of appearance, the GT2 Stradale's design is noticeably more subdued than that of its track-only sibling, the GT2. The&nbsp;aggressive racing-inspired graphics of the latter&nbsp;have been dropped from the Stradale, which also receives a revised front bumper designed to enhance cooling and airflow compared&nbsp;to the standard&nbsp;GT2. The Italian luxury&nbsp;manufacturer&nbsp;has improved the car's aerodynamics to the point that it produces 500 kg of downforce. It has multiple carbon fibre components that aid in weight reduction and shares the GT2's adjustable rear&nbsp;wing. Similar side vents are also located close to the C-pillar on the Stradale. Maserati added a racing diffuser at the back of the vehicle.

<h2>Maserati GT2 Stradale: Mechanical Core</h2>

Even though the Stradale's 3.0-litre&nbsp;V6 "Nettuno" engine is the same, it now produces about 640bhp of maximum power, which is about 10bhp&nbsp;more than the GT2 designated for the racetrack. What's more amazing, though, is that the Stradale weighs 60 kg less than the MC20 thanks to some important&nbsp;enhancements.&nbsp;With a top speed of 324km/h, the supercar can go from&nbsp;the 0 to 100km/h race in an impressive 2.8 seconds.&nbsp;Power is sent to the rear wheels of the supercar via an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. <h2>Maserati GT2 Stradale: Interior</h2>

The GT2 Stradale's interior, like the rest of the vehicle, is designed to sit in between the MC20 and the GT2. To reduce glare and&nbsp;focus on driving, the cabin surfaces are finished in a dark&nbsp;shade. There are amenities like a drive-mode knob,&nbsp;a digital instruments cluster, lightweight carbon-fibre racing seats (available in two sizes), four-point seatbelts,&nbsp;carbon fibre paddle shifters, a drive button, a reverse button, a sports steering wheel, a rectangular infotainment screen, and a volume knob.

To add more thrill&nbsp;and enable a unique drive mode, there are two performance packages.&nbsp;Based on the race vehicle, the Corsa Evo mode offers four different levels that let you get more and more fierce. The Fuoriserie treatment has been meted out to the exterior too. The&nbsp;Maserati Quattroporte Grand Finale features a Blu Nobile colour with&nbsp;a carbon-fibre body kit finished in the same tone, while the brake callipers are made of brushed aluminium. Another highlight&nbsp;is the identification number '999999' imprinted on&nbsp;the windscreen as well as inside the driver's door.

<h2>New Maserati GranTurismo: Powertrain</h2>

The new GranTurismo features a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine located behind the front axle. This engine produces 483bhp and 600Nm in the base Modena model, and 550bhp and 650Nm&nbsp;in the performance-oriented Trofeo version.&nbsp;The former goes from 0 to 100km/h in 3.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 302km/h,&nbsp;while the latter claims a sprint time of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 320km/h. Both models come with an all-wheel drive.&nbsp;Though Maserati has yet to announce, we expect both petrol-powered models to hit our markets next month.

The GranTurismo Folgore&nbsp;comes with a tri-motor all-wheel-drive system with a combined power rating of 751bhp and 1,350Nm.&nbsp;It has a maximum speed of 325km/h and 0 to 100km/h acceleration time of 2.7 seconds. The electric variant features a 92.5 kWh battery that allows for a range of up to 450 kilometres on a full charge.&nbsp;
