German automaker Mercedes-Benz is set to unveil a host of models, including the production-spec&nbsp;EQG at Auto China in Beijing. The SUV was shown as a concept in India last year, featuring&nbsp;a 3D star pattern and an LED strip along with&nbsp;bespoke 22-inch aluminium wheels.&nbsp;It is an all-electric version of the&nbsp;G-Class SUV and has the same boxy style and proportions. However, the improved ladder frame chassis provides more space for the all-electric motor. It is propelled by four-wheel-mounted motors, which can be controlled individually. In concept form, the EQG can travel up to 500 kilometres&nbsp;on a single charge.&nbsp;More details on the powertrain and off-road capabilities are currently unavailable, but they are expected to be disclosed at the upcoming Auto China show on April 24.

<h2>Mercedes-Benz EQG: More Highlights&nbsp;</h2>

The EQG is likely to be called the G 580 once it hits the markets. Although there has been no official announcement, the car may surpass the current AMG G63's acceleration time of 4.5 seconds, which is powered by a V8 engine. The all-electric SUV in its production form is reported to come with a&nbsp;G-Turn feature, which enables 360-degree tank spins in place, as the electric motors on either side turn the wheels in opposite directions.&nbsp;The driver can choose to turn left or right with paddle shifters on the steering wheel. The G-Turn can be activated through a button on the dashboard.&nbsp; As seen in the concept, the e-car will lack a front frunk, which will distinguish it from other EQ vehicles. Additionally, the model will include a storage box instead of a spare wheel carrier.

<h2>Mercedes-Benz EQG: Styling Cues</h2>

With a few minor exceptions, the EQG concept's design is essentially the same as that of the G-class with an ICE powertrain. The illuminated black-coated grille is the most noticeable. The SUV's door sills, headlamp cover, and roof rack are among the various exterior&nbsp;elements&nbsp;that have LED stripes on&nbsp;them.&nbsp;It also comes with&nbsp;unique 22-inch aluminum wheels, a solid panel with a 3D star pattern in place of the front grille, and a storage box in place of the spare wheel carrier. Furthermore, the model&nbsp;boasts&nbsp;a unique dual-tone paint job, with the lower body painted metallic silver and the upper body painted black.&nbsp;

With an emphasis on retaining the vehicle's off-road capabilities, the EQG is constructed on the same ladder-frame chassis as the standard G-class. The car's suspension system comprises a rigid axle at the back and an independent suspension on the front axle. Additionally, at CES 2024 in Las Vegas, the brand unveiled the electric SUV's G-Turn feature.&nbsp;This function&nbsp;of the&nbsp;production SUV will be accessible through a button on the dashboard. The ladder frame incorporates the battery to provide a low centre of gravity. <h2>Mercedes-Benz EQG: Interior and Launch</h2>

A few new Mercedes-Benz cars will be available for purchase in India later this year, including the all-electric EQG. Although the carmaker&nbsp;hasn't disclosed the EQG's interior details, we may infer what it will look like based on the brand's&nbsp;SUVs that are currently on the market. New dual-digital displays and environmentally recycled materials for the dashboard and seating are&nbsp;expected.

Mercedes-Benz has announced that in addition to the EQG's first-ever India premiere, other vehicles including the AMG GLE 53 Coupe and the GLA facelift would also mark their arrival in the domestic market. 

Mercedes-Benz is planning to induce the electric version of the G-Class with a host of features that will come with new battery tech with a longer range.

The next big thing in Mercedes-AMG’s pipeline is going to be an electric high-hauling vehicle. The electric version of the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/mercedes-benz/g-class/" target="_blank">G-Class</a> which was showcased as the EQG concept a while back is progressing towards its production-ready version as we speak. And now we have a tiny scoop on what the car’s battery will be like.&nbsp;

The EQG is expected to officially debut in 2025 and is expected to be the first model to come with the battery technology that was previewed in the one-off EQXX saloon concept. The company has also claimed that the same tech will soon make it to all the upcoming EQs as well.&nbsp;

The battery has been developed in tandem with US-based Sila Nanotechnologies and features a silicon anode that, along with other chemical changes in the cells, contributes to a 20-40% increase in energy density compared with the units that power the current EQ models, which make use of commonly used graphite anodes.

The German manufacturer says that the new cell chemistry is aimed at storing more electric energy in any given space than is the case now. This will subsequently mean a longer range in future models without the need to resort to larger-capacity batteries. The prototype is powered by a 100kWh battery as compared to the 90kWh and 107.8kWh units in the current models.&nbsp;

The EQG will be built on a modified version of the existing <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/mercedes-benz/" target="_blank">Mercedes-Benz’s</a> G -Class ladder-on-frame chassis tweaked to support the added weight of the battery. The electric G-Class with four motors, one at each wheel. Each of the same will come with its fixed-ratio gearbox. Mercedes is also developing a software package which will enable the motors to stimulate the effect of three differential locks as we saw on the ICE G-Class models.
