Mercedes-Benz India has kicked off the year 2024 with the launch of the new GLA&nbsp;and the AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupe priced at Rs&nbsp;50.5&nbsp;lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 1.85 crore (ex-showroom) respectively. As part of their 2024 prime launch event, the German carmaker has made significant improvements to the&nbsp;GLA's design and interior. At the forthcoming Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024, the premium manufacturer will be showcasing their new models. The upgraded GLE 53 Coupe, the redesigned GLA, and the futuristic EQG electric SUV concept are all expected to be the show-stoppers at this car show. The Mercedes-Benz GLA facelift comes with slight but obvious upgrades over its predecessor. It comes in three variants and is priced between Rs 50.50 lakh and Rs 56.90 lakh (ex-showroom).&nbsp;Notably, the front end now has body-coloured wheel arches instead of the old black plastic ones. Updated bumpers, revised LED tail lights, new alloy wheels, an updated front grille, and new LED headlamps with a distinctive LED DRL pattern are some of the changes this SUV gets.

More noticeable are the practical upgrades found within the redesigned GLA, which include the newest Mercedes touch-control steering wheels. As part of the redesign, the centre console's big trackpad has been removed, and 10.25-inch screens have been added for infotainment and the driver's display. A 360-degree camera, ambient lighting, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and several cabin improvements are among the additional amenities.

There are no changes to the 2024 GLA's engine lineup from its outgoing model. Powering the vehicle are two engines: one 2.0-litre diesel with 187bhp and 320Nm of torque, and another 1.3-litre turbo-petrol with 160bhp and 270nm of torque. The diesel version comes with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, while the petrol version comes with a seven-speed DCT.

<h2>Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe</h2>

The GLE (unveiled last year) and GLE Coupe facelift have almost identical front ends. Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, the GLE Coupe will offer only the 53 AMG variant in India. The GLE 53 Coupe follows the same pattern as the regular GLE facelift in terms of exterior and interior styling while adding some small modifications and improvements over the previous model. The GLE 53 Coupe and regular GLE both get facelifts, although they're very similar in terms of the general changes made to the exterior and inside.

With a price tag of&nbsp;Rs 1.85 crore&nbsp;(ex-showroom), the AMG GLE 53 Coupe competes with the Porsche Cayenne Coupe, while the GLA will challenge the BMW X1 and the Audi Q3.

<h2>Mercedes-Benz GLA, AMG GLE 53 Coupe Facelifts: Appearance</h2>

The GLA facelift, which will probably&nbsp;be released in 200 and 220d variants, has several minor changes over the previous model. The design upgrades in the firm's entry-level SUV,&nbsp;unveiled globally in May last year, focus mostly on the front end, with&nbsp;body-coloured wheel arches replacing the previous black plastic embellishments. Other styling cues&nbsp;include a revamped&nbsp;front grille, new&nbsp;LED headlamps&nbsp;with a new-pattern&nbsp;LED DRL, reworked bumpers, redesigned LED tail lights, and new alloy wheels.&nbsp;

The AMG GLE 53 Coupe made its debut almost a year ago. The SUV coupe's flowing roofline is visible at the sides and rear, but the front ends of the GLE and GLE Coupe are almost identical in terms of style. Like its pre-facelift predecessor, the GLE Coupe for India will only be offered in the 53 AMG variant.

With the most recent Mercedes steering wheels with touch controls, the interior of the facelifted GLA&nbsp;will see somewhat more substantial practical improvements. On the inside, the changes will be limited to an updated&nbsp;MBUX infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a reversing camera, and ambient lighting.&nbsp;

In terms of the powertrain, the 2024&nbsp;Mercedes-Benz GLA is expected to come&nbsp;equipped with&nbsp;a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine and&nbsp;a 2.0-litre diesel engine, although&nbsp;in different states of tune. Expect the&nbsp;GLA facelift to get&nbsp;48V&nbsp;mild-hybrid technology, delivering an extra power boost. Up front, the updated Mercedes-Benz GLA and the GLB get&nbsp;styling tweaks in the form of revised bumpers with skid plate, new alloy wheels, new LED headlamps with a new-pattern&nbsp;LED DRL (daytime running lights), redesigned LED tail lights, and body-coloured finish around wheel arches.&nbsp;In addition, the GLA comes with&nbsp;a revamped&nbsp;front grille&nbsp;with vertical louvers, a horizontal fin, and a bonnet with power domes. While the GLB has a new front grille with horizontal louvers.

Both the&nbsp;GLA and the GLB&nbsp;offer&nbsp;new alloy wheel designs, with the former ranging from 17- to 20-inch in size and the latter 18- to 20-inch in size.&nbsp;

On the inside, the updated models boast heated steering wheels,&nbsp;twin 10.25-inch displays for the infotainment system and instrument cluster with the latest-generation MBUX software, 7-inch driver displays as standard, and USB-C ports. If launched in India, the latest GLA and the GLB will hold a premium over their respective existing models. Mercedes-Benz first showcased the all-new GLA globally in December 2019 and made its India debut at the Auto Expo 2020 in February. The new compact crossover looks smoother than before without losing its overall stance. At 4,410mm, the new GLA is 14mm shorter in length but has a wheelbase that is 30mm longer than before. The front and rear wheels sit 2,729mm apart. With that in mind, Mercedes claims that this new model has 116mm more legroom than before.

The new-gen GLA also sports completely reworked interior design. 10.25-inch MBUX touchscreen infotainment system in the centre that comes fully equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as the German carmaker’s ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice command feature. Other features include powered front seats, ambient lighting, and a 10.25-inch all-digital instrument cluster behind the wheel.

The GLA is being offered with petrol and diesel engine options. The gasoline-powered compact crossover makes 161bhp and 250Nm from a 1.3-litre turbo petrol unit. This engine is mated to a 7-speed DCT that sends power just to the front wheels. The diesel, on the other hand, is plonked with a 2.0-litre motor that pushes out 188bhp and 400Nm. Paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch, the diesel GLA is on offer with front-wheel drive and all-wheel-drive configurations.

Mercedes also has an AMG-spec 2.0-litre turbo petrol GLA in their portfolio. This unit is good for 302 horses and 400Nm, thanks to which it dismisses the naught to 100km/h milestone in just 5.1 seconds. The 35 AMG is paired with an 8-speed DCT and an all-wheel-drive system.

The Mercedes-Benz GLA will compete against the BMW X1, Mini Countryman and the Volvo XC40. Audi is also scheduled to bring back the popular Q3 in the mix in the near future.

Of course, the 2020 GLA's key highlight is the enhanced space &amp; comfort quotient. Despite losing 14mm in overall length (4,410mm), the 2020 GLA offers 30mm longer wheelbase (2,729mm), 116mm more rear legroom (976mm) and is also taller by a healthy 104mm (1,611mm), so headroom too has improved. Plus, it's also 30mm wider (1,834mm) that translates into better shoulder room. Increased front &amp; rear track width, combined with bigger wheel diameter (17-20 inch) give&nbsp;the 2020 GLA a stronger road presence and better ground clearance&nbsp;(143mm).

As for firepower, the entry-level GLA 200 is powered by a 1.3-litre M282 petrol motor (co-developed with Renault) that's good for 161bhp and 250Nm of torque. The 1,332cc motor is mated to a 7-speed automatic DCT. However, go for the top-spec GLA 35 AMG and you'll have at your disposal&nbsp;302bhp and 400Nm of torque from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol unit. The AMG derivative will be available exclusively with an 8G AMG Speedshift DCT.

The 2020 GLA can be ordered with optional 4MATIC AWD. The 4MATIC add-on will also bring with it an 'Off-Road Engineering Package' as standard. This comprises an extra driving mode, a downhill assist function, an off-road animation in the media display and&nbsp;a special light function for off-road driving (with MULTIBEAM LED headlamps). The 2020 GLA will also be offered with the new MBUX infotainment system as standard, that recently made its <a href="https://www.autox.com/reviews/car-reviews/mercedes-benz-glc-review-first-drive-106967/">India debut on the 2020 GLC.</a>

2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA is more spacious than ever

The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA is finally among us and with the generation change, the compact crossover looks sharper and beefier than before. Of course, the 2020 GLA's key highlight is the enhanced space & comfort quotient.

Mercedes' entry-level SUV is set to receive a big makeover when it's unveiled&nbsp;next month.

Mercedes-Benz has&nbsp;dropped a teaser of the next-gen GLA that reveals the car's shadowy silhouette. Though it doesn't let out definitive design cues of the second-gen model, the simple teaser is more than enough to reveal&nbsp;some crucial changes made&nbsp;to the GLA's design. As&nbsp;for other details, not much is known at this point. But Mercedes has given some basic pointers&nbsp;about the new model's dimensions. To start with, the second-gen GLA will be taller by 10cm (or 100mm). Yes, you read that correctly. The teaser and&nbsp;the&nbsp;images of camouflaged prototypes also support this fact, as the new GLA definitely resembles the GLC more than ever. Mercedes says this change&nbsp;'allows a higher, characteristic SUV seating position and more headroom in the first row'.

Interestingly, the new GLA will be 15mm shorter than its predecessor and yet, the 'legroom in the rear will be&nbsp;much more generous'. This has been achieved by stretching out the wheelbase a bit. Further, Mercedes claims&nbsp;the new GLA will get a more off-road centric design, courtesy of short&nbsp;front &amp; rear overhangs, protective cladding all around the body and a more upright front section.

As is the case with all new Mercedes models, the next-gen&nbsp;GLA will also offer an updated suite of safety &amp; driving assist&nbsp;systems. The updates are likely to come in the form of a warning system for pedestrians (linked to&nbsp;the car's radar-based detectors), an Active Brake Assist function and a car-exit warning function, informing the driver about any approaching vehicle/pedestrian.

The new GLA will also go down in history as the first Mercedes-Benz model to have a purely-digital world premiere.

<a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/mercedes-benz/">Mercedes-Benz</a> is on a roll! The luxury car maker launched three new products last month and has now added another one to the list. Earlier this year at the Detroit Motor Show in January, Mercedes-Benz showcased the GLA facelift and it has now made it to Indian shores. The 2017 GLA facelift is priced at Rs 32.2 lakh for the base petrol and Rs 36.75 lakh for the top-spec diesel.

So what's new in this 2017 GLA? Like all facelifts, the changes to the GLA are primarily cosmetic. Up front, the GLA gets a new remoulded grille with chrome accents, a redesigned bumper and with a newly designed air dam. The Bi-Xenon headlamps from the outgoing model have been replaced by LED ones. The taillights too are of the LED kind and have a contoured finish. Mercedes has also fitted the GLA facelift with a new set of alloy wheels. Not much has been altered on the inside except for the mildly redesigned three-spoke steering wheel and a new 8-inch infotainment system. A few chrome bits and minor updates to the instrumentation have also been incorporated.

The top of the range GLA 220d 4MATIC is loaded with equipment like rain sensing wipers, 12 interior ambient lighting colours, keyless entry with push-button stop-start and Attention Assist safety feature which senses the level of the drivers' drowsiness from steering inputs and flashes a warning. Additionally, it is also offered with four interior colour options and two alloy wheel options. The Off Road package is offered as standard with the 220d 4MATIC, while LED headlamps are standard across the range.

Under the hood, the 2017 <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/car-news/second-gen-mercedes-benz-gla-launched-in-india-109497/">Mercedes-Benz GLA</a> will continue to be offered with the same engine options. The 2.1-litre diesel motor makes 134bhp and 168bhp in the 200d and 220d variants respectively. The 2.0-litre gasoline motor is good for 180bhp. Both these engines come mated to a 7-speed automatic gearbox. The Stuttgart-based car maker recently introduced a new 2.0-litre diesel engine in the E220d but that hasn't been introduced in the GLA as yet as that engine is tuned for the new 9-speed automatic gearbox.
