<p>After a nail-biting Sprint on Saturday, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya gave us another amazing feature-length race. Having dumped his GP24 in the gravel at Turn 10, while leading the Sprint, Francesco ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia redeemed himself by winning the race. Current World Championship leader, Jorge Martin converted his P7 start into P2 while Marc Marquez gave us another unbelievable comeback ride, going from 14th to 3rd. This is the second consecutive weekend where Marquez climbed through the ranks to finish on the podium.</p>

<p>Bagnaia wasted little time at the start of the race to take the lead. Close behind him was the rookie, Pedro Acosta who had been rapid all weekend and another rider who crashed from the lead of the Sprint. Not to be left in the crowd again, Martin also made a few places at the start. Home hero, Aleix Espargaro did not have the best start once again. As the flag fell, it was Bagnaia who took the victory with his brilliant tyre management and consistent pace. The reigning champion kept his bike towards the front of the field and then on Lap 19, he overtook Martin for the lead. To make it sweeter, he did it at Turn 5, the same turn where he crashed yesterday. Marquez brought some heartache to Espargaro and his fans by passing him at the pit straight on Lap 21, denying him a chance to stand on the podium for one last time in front of his home crowd.</p>

<p>Turn 10 was perhaps the most eventful part of the circuit, one that caused a lot of pain for riders. Jack Miller was the first rider to fall off his KTM on the third lap. The Australian, whose future in the sport in uncertain as of now, is not doing himself any favours by crashing frequently. Both GasGas riders, Pedro Acosta and Agusto Fernandez fell at the same turn on Lap 11 and Lap 6, respectively. While Fernandez retired from the race, Acosta quickly remounted his RC16. He was just ahead of Honda’s Stefan Bradl and running in P20 as he rejoined the circuit. However, the young rider did make it back into the points and bagged four points with hi P13 finish. It was not just crashes, Turn 10 also was a good spot for overtakes, especially for Martin who first overtook Acosta for second place on Lap 4 and then a lap later Bagnaia for first place.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Two Ducati riders who did not have a great day were Franco Morbidelli and Enea Bastianini. Morbidelli who has failed to produce a decent result riding the updated Ducati, crashed towards the end of the race. And in a bizarre turn of events, Enea Bastianini got a long lap penalty for cutting Turn 2, after he was pushed wide by Alex Marquez while he was passing him. Bastianini did not serve the penalty and got handed a double long lap penalty. The Italian then failed to serve that penalty as well. As a result, he was given a ride through penalty and ended way outside the points in P18.</p>

<p>Raul Fernandez of Trackhouse Racing was a surprise star of the weekend. He managed to crosse over from Q2 to Q1 with an all-time lap record and then was leading the Sprint on Saturday, a first for him. Sadly for him, he crashed out of the lead, ending his hopes for a first Sprint victory. While he could not lead the race on Sunday, he did bring in a good haul of points, crossing the line in sixth place.</p>

<p>Fabio Quartararo was yet again the lead Japanese bike, finishing just inside the top 10. Alex Rins, who had managed to get straight into Q1 this weekend, went backwards in the race, finishing way outside the points. The Spaniard went wide at the first corner and could not recover. Takaaki Nakagami took the honours of being the lead Honda rider ahead of Joan Mir.</p>

Catalunya produced another interesting race and saw the reigning World Champion, Francesco Bagnaia take the race win after his crash in the Sprint. He was joined by Jorge Martin and Marc Marquez on the podium.

<p>Ahead of the second preseason test in Qatar, Aprilia Racing has offered a glimpse of its 2024 livery, signalling its ambitions to dominate this season’s MotoGP championship. While the RS-GPs of Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales have undergone significant modifications, the bike's livery remains largely unchanged, featuring a predominantly black paint scheme accented by red and purple highlights.</p>

<p>According to Romano Albesiano, the technical director, substantial improvements have been implemented in the 2024 racing machine while maintaining a strong connection to last year’s competitive spirit. Among the notable modifications, the aero component stands out significantly. Albesiano also mentioned that the frame, chassis, swing arm, engine components, and electronics are among the new elements integrated into Aprilia’s 2024 racing machine.</p>

<p>Aprilia has long been recognized for its innovative approach to producing aerodynamic components for MotoGP motorcycles. The unveiling of the updated Aprilia motorcycle during the MotoGP 2024 livery reveal in Lusail, Qatar, underscores the creativity of the Noale-based team.</p>

<p>In addition to the wings, the motorcycle's tail features a diffuser aimed at generating additional downforce. This increased downward pressure is expected to enhance traction on both straightaways and bends, enabling the motorcycle to navigate corners and accelerate swiftly.</p>

<p>To enhance the RS-GP's competitiveness in MotoGP, Aprilia has prioritized aerodynamic development, dedicating resources to address issues such as extreme heat, which can pose challenges for riders. The redesigned fairing incorporates graduated perforations on the sides alongside larger wings. These modifications not only improve aerodynamics but also aid in dispersing engine heat, thereby mitigating the risk of riders being affected by heat exposure.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.autox.com/motorsport-news/2024-motogp-qatar-test-top-things-to-look-out-for-during-the-final-pre-season-testing-116215/">The teams are coming together in Qatar for additional testing as the MotoGP season draws near. </a>The first round will take place in Qatar from 8 to 10 March. Teams and riders will refine their specs and settings for the next races throughout the test.</p>

<h2>Aprilia 2024 Livery: What the Team Has to Say?</h2>

<p>While showcasing the official version of Aprilia RS-GP24, Aleix Espargaro said, ‘The growth we have demonstrated in recent seasons has been incredible. I am proud to be part of this project, which I have always considered to be my second family. In 2024, we’ll make another step forward.’</p>

<p>His teammate, Maverick Vinales added, ‘Our 2023 season ended on an upward trend, and we want to continue that now. The feeling with the team is outstanding. During the winter break, I trained like mad, and I have faith in Aprilia Racing’s work. If we continue to set the goal of squeezing the most out of our technical package every weekend, the results will follow naturally.’</p>

<p>Massimo Rivola, Aprilia Racing CEO, said, ‘Over the past few years, <a href="https://www.autox.com/motorsport-news/motogp-trackhouse-racing-solidifies-multi-year-extension-with-aprilia-targets-two-factory-bikes-115580/">Aprilia Racing</a> has embarked on a process of continuous growth. First, we became an official team, and then, with our satellite team, we had four bikes on the track. In 2024 we’re raising the bar even higher by starting from the get-go with three RS-GPs in the same official specification.’</p>

<p>He further added, ‘It’s quite a challenge for the racing division, but it’s also a signal of the evolution of this project on all fronts. We want to be a major player in MotoGP and we’ve got everything lined up to make that happen.’</p>

<p>Romano Albesiano, Technical Director, said, ‘Our approach to the 2024 season couldn’t ignore the excellent base we’ve created, particularly over the last two championships. The RS-GP is a “mature” design that is in line with the Aprilia philosophy. We’ve tried to evolve every aspect.’</p>

<p>He further added, ‘The aerodynamics are perhaps where the most obvious changes have been made. We’ve introduced some concepts that are most definitely innovative to improve the aerodynamic load without affecting efficiency.’</p>


MotoGP: Aprilia Unveils 2024 RS-GP Ahead of Season Challenge by Maverick Vinales, Aleix Espargaro

Aprilia Racing has unveiled its MotoGP 2024 livery. The livery is almost unchanged from the previous year except for adding more purple to the RS-GP's fairing.

<p>The CryptoDATA RNF team has encountered a dramatic development in its journey, as the MotoGP Selection Committee has announced the revocation of the team's grid positions for the forthcoming 2024 season. The committee, comprising members from FIM, IRTA, and Dorna Sports, issued a statement on Monday announcing their resolution to disqualify the team from the roster for the year 2024. The committee will evaluate applications for a new Independent Team that will utilise Aprilia machinery as a replacement on the grid.</p>

<p>The statement said: "The MotoGP Selection Committee, comprising members of FIM, IRTA and Dorna Sports, have decided not to select the CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP Team for the 2024 season. Repeated infractions and breaches of the Participation Agreement affecting the public image of MotoGP have obliged this decision. The Selection Committee will be reviewing applications for a new Independent Team, using Aprilia machinery, to join the MotoGP class grid for 2024."</p>

<p>The statement was made the day before the first 2024 preseason test at Circuit Ricardo Tormo, and neither the team nor Aprilia have responded as of yet.</p>

<h2>MotoGP: CryptoDATA RNF Aprilia Team</h2>

<p>After Petronas and the Sepang Racing Team pulled out of MotoGP at the end of the 2021 season, the RNF team was formed. Razali, the former team manager of SRT, bought the team and fielded Yamaha motorcycles in 2022 before striking a partnership with Aprilia for the current season.</p>

<p>Along with Razali's plan to sell a controlling stake in the team to the Romanian company CryptoDATA in 2023, the team also acquired a title partnership with the corporation. Despite these advances, the team has been unable to attain considerable success. RNF finished the 2022 season in 11th place out of 12 teams and is now in ninth place out of 11 teams.</p>

<p>In the end, the CryptoDATA RNF Aprilia Team was able to clinch the 8th place position in the rankings for the 2023 MotoGP Teams.</p>

<h2>MotoGP: 2024 Valencia Test</h2>

<p>The season finale featured an epic battle between Francesco Bagnaia and Jorge Martin, finishing off an outstanding racing season.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Marc Marquez will ride a Ducati for the first time on November 28 at the Valencia postseason test. The speed he shows in his first outing after leaving Honda could set the tone for the rest of the 2024 season. As if that wasn't enough, Franco Morbidelli, who recently left Yamaha to join Pramac, will be making his Ducati debut as well.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Alex Rins will inherit the Yamaha, marking a significant change for the skilled racer. The forthcoming test is more than just a performance trial for well-known names for newcomers like Pedro Acosta, who will be testing MotoGP gear for the first time on November 28th.</p>


MotoGP: FIM and Dorna Reject RNF Aprilia's Entry for 2024 Championship

The 2024 season will not see the CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP Team compete due to repeated violations and infractions of the participation agreement, according to FIM. 

<p>Franco Morbidelli has officially signed with Pramac Ducati, where he will race in the 2024 MotoGP season alongside Jorge Martin. A few races ago, Alex Rins was signed away from LCR Honda to take the factory Yamaha rider's place. A switch to Pramac has been widely speculated around ever since it was revealed that he will be leaving Yamaha, where he has spent the previous five seasons. This was made clearer when Marco Bezzecchi opted to remain with the Mooney VR46 Ducati team rather than join Pramac. Franco Morbidelli, the runner-up in the 2020 MotoGP Rider Championship, the 2017 Moto2 World Champion, and the 2013 European Superstock 600 Champion will return the Italian flag to the Pramac Racing team's garage three years after Pecco Bagnaia's departure. The two Yamaha riders, Morbidelli and 2021 world champion Fabio Quartararo, are now trailing the overall leader and defending champion Francesco Bagnaia by a significant margin.</p>

<h2>MotoGP: Ducati's Luigi Dall’Igna Welcomes Morbidelli to Factory-Supported Pramac Racing</h2>

<p>Paulo Campinoti, Prima Pramac Racing Team principal, commented on Morbidelli joining Ducati-sponsored Pramac Racing: "I am very happy that Franco is joining our family for 2024. I have an excellent relationship with him, and he has proven to be a champion on many occasions. I am confident that in our team, he will find the right conditions to fight for the positions he deserves."</p>

<h2>MotoGP: Ducati's Door Closed for Marc Marquez?</h2>

<p>The number of alternatives available to Marc Marquez for the 2024 season is narrowing. With Prima Pramac Racing's signing of Franco Morbidelli on Monday, another piece of the 2024 MotoGP grid puzzle was revealed. There has been much talk in recent weeks regarding the eight-time World champion racing for Ducati if he decides to quit the Repsol Honda Team, where his contract has one more year to run. There have been a few openings as of late, with Gresini Racing being the most widely discussed. Now that Franco Morbidelli is here, Marc can forget about working at Prima Pramac in 2024.</p>

<p>Keep in mind that Marquez kept everyone on their toes by explaining at the Misano test that he has "plan A," "plan B," and "plan C" for the future and will reveal his plan during the Indian GP or the Japanese GP.&nbsp;</p>

<p>At the Misano test, Honda showed off the first 2024 prototype. Almost every aspect of the engine was the same as the one Marc Marquez had been using all 2023. To say the least, Marquez's comments didn't augur well for his future with Honda.</p>


MotoGP: Franco Morbidelli to Race for Pramac Ducati in 2024

Prima Pramac, a satellite team of Ducati, revealed that they have signed Yamaha's Franco Morbidelli for the 2024 MotoGP season. The Italian rider will compete on the 2024 Desmosedici, which will also be used by Factory Ducati riders.
