After colliding with factory Ducati rider Enea Bastianini with five laps to go, the race was finished for the Repsol Honda racer. With nine races remaining in the 2023 MotoGP season, Marquez has failed to complete a race. After his recent collision, which occurred after a weekend of conservative riding in the wet, Marquez admitted that he had been focusing more on the progress of his Honda than on his personal performance. He suffered injuries that kept him from competing in Argentina, Texas, and Spain, and he bowed out of competitions in Germany and the Netherlands right before the main race.&nbsp;With only six laps to go, the Spaniard was taken off guard by the weather and lack of downforce at the fast Maggotts/Becketts stretch and clipped the back of Bastianini. The Repsol Honda Team, who had been steadily improving over the weekend, went home empty-handed after a disappointing conclusion to the British Grand Prix. Fellow Repsol honda Rider Joan Mir said, "It was not the comeback I had wanted. The start was not good and I lost a lot of positions at the start. Then the feeling, especially under braking, was not what I was expecting and the bike was very nervous. I ran on as a result of this and fell in the gravel. Unfortunately, that’s our Sunday. We need to check everything well with the team and the engineers to improve for the upcoming weekend in Austria. Fortunately, I was not hurt in the crash, this is important."

<h2>MotoGP British GP: Honda’s New Aero Update</h2>

While Marc Marquez and Joan Mir worked on finding a better base set-up for the RC213-V, Nakagami was tasked with testing Honda's only major aero upgrade for the year, which was introduced for the British GP and previously tested by Stefan Bradl in a recent test at Jerez.&nbsp;

Marc Marquez, Honda's top rider, was not given access to it for "technical reasons," as the six-time world champion acknowledged. He was referring to the fact that only one front aero improvement may be homologated for every full-time rider in a particular season. Since it will be installed on Nakagami's satellite bike, he will be functioning as a racing tester for Silverstone, as is customary for satellite riders, especially since his LCR teammate Alex Rins has signed with Yamaha for 2024 and will not be relied on heavily in future Honda development work.

<h2>MotoGP British GP: Silverstone Race Result</h2>

By the conclusion of lap seven, the Aprilia rider had caught his Italian competitor, but he was still unable to overtake him five laps later. They had instead fallen back into the clutches of Maverick Vinales and Brad Binder, teammates of Espargaro's. The race grew increasingly chaotic when the rain flags were raised and the two leading riders combined into one. The last stretch of the lap, from Stowe to the finish line, saw the heaviest downpour of the whole race. With five laps remaining, this caused several riders to go off the track, but the leaders kept going on slicks. A bike switch would not have given me enough time to catch up and win the race.

After the first riders stopped to switch bikes, Miguel Oliveira emerged out of nowhere to enter the fight for the win one lap later. He quickly overtook Binder and Vinales, leaving 'just' Espargaro and Bagnaia in his wake. When he finally did capture them, he took Binder with him. With just two circuits remaining, any one of the four riders, including Vinales, may take the victory. At the start of the last lap, Bagnaia was in the lead. However, Espargaro had a superior driving grip and used it to overtake Bagnaia on the exit of Copse, then placed himself out of range of attack into Stowe on the exit of Chapel, and finally left Bagnaia with no choices on the departure of Stowe going into the final chicane. This was Espargaro's first victory in almost a year, and he stole it from Bagnaia in the closing lap battle, one of the Italian's strong suits.

In the British MotoGP at Silverstone, Marco Bezzecchi, riding for Mooney VR46, was just one of several riders to fall out. Joan Mir Said, "Our break was a bit longer than everyone else’s, but I am now fully recovered from the injury I suffered in Mugello. I’ve been back training and riding different kinds of bikes like normal for a few weeks now so I am feeling good physically. The goal for the weekend is to make the most of every session and get back into the mindset of MotoGP and racing after so many weeks away. It will be great to see everyone again and get back on the Honda RC213V."

After dropping from the German and Aesens races owing to injury, Marc Marquez is making his comeback for the Honda. During his almost month-long break this summer, Marc Marquez has rested, trained, and begun preparation for the remainder of the season. With six podium finishes at Silverstone, he is a consistent contender. Marquez plans to utilise the Grand Prix to continue developing the Honda RC213V and work with the to boost its performance.

Marc Marquez said, "We have enjoyed an important Summer Break, a chance to reset and recover after a demanding start to the year. From the physical and mental side, I come back to the track refreshed and ready to work. I am looking forward to seeing everyone in the Repsol Honda Team again and understanding the work that has been done over the break. Silverstone is a circuit where I have had a lot of good battles in the past. <h2>MotoGP to Tweak Race Weekend Format</h2>

MotoGP has announced changes to the MotoGP weekend itinerary for the 2023 Silverstone event. Following a vote in which all MotoGP class teams participated, the Grand Prix Commission (GPC) reached a consensus and approved the newly proposed structure for the race weekend.

The most notable change is that Friday's 45-minute Free Practise session will no longer serve as a timed qualifying session for Saturday's Qualifying 2. All MotoGP teams agreed, and the Grand Prix Commission accepted the change. As of now, only a second practice session on Friday afternoon will be timed for entry into Q2. Before the sprint race on Saturday morning, riders and teams will be given a 30-minute Free Practice 2 session. Sunday's race remains unchanged.

The new weekend format was agreed upon and accepted by the Grand Prix Commission (GPC) after being voted on by all MotoGP class teams. The new format is a departure from the 'pre-qualifying' system that has been in place since 2012, in which the best 10 riders from all of free practice automatically progress to Q2, while the remaining riders compete for the top two spots in Q1. It should be well-received by riders, who traditionally have not liked having to rush to put on a new set of soft tyres in the last minutes of the first practice session in order to set an 'insurance' lap time in case the second session is slower than the first.

<h2>MotoGP British GP: What are the Changes?</h2>

Despite Ducati's objections, the Grand Prix Commission has announced that the 2023 MotoGP format would be revised beginning with the British race at Silverstone.&nbsp;

What was once "Practise 1" at the start of 2023 is now "Free Practise 1," and no longer counts towards "pre-qualifying" for Q1 and Q2. This implies that the Friday afternoon session is now the sole timed session that counts for Q1/Q2 seeding, and thus the Saturday morning session is now known as "Free Practise 2."

In theory, this means fewer accidents, since riders won't be as motivated to try to set a fast lap in the last seconds of Free Practise 1 if the track conditions are less than ideal. Stability in both sessions may be improved by laying additional rubber on the racing line during practice.&nbsp;
