<p>On the last day of 2024 MotoGP pre-season testing in Qatar, Francesco Bagnaia set a new lap record and led a factory Ducati 1-2. Following his previous best time at Sepang, Bagnaia's outstanding performance completed the Qatar tests without a hitch. Bagnaia broke last year's pole record held by Luca Marini by eight-tenths of a second with a time of 1m50.952s, which was recorded with two hours left in the seven-hour event. Enea Bastianini, another member of his team, was 0.120 seconds behind him.</p>

<p>While ten other riders broke the lap record in ideal track conditions, only Bastianini came close to Bagnaia's incredible speed. Bastianini showed a great improvement from his difficult 2023 season as the Ducati duo displayed their skills in the testing environment. After a late-session crash, Marc Marquez of Gresini finished the pre-season in a respectable fourth place, while Aleix Espargaro of Aprilia solidified third place on the new RS-GP.</p>

<h2>MotoGP: Day 2 Qatar Test Result&nbsp;</h2>

<p>After nearly six days on the Desmosedici, new Gresini Ducati rider Marc Marquez had a setback in the closing stages when he crashed. Showcasing tenacity, Raul Fernandez secured fifth place aboard the 2023-spec<a href="https://www.autox.com/motorsport-news/motogp-sepang-test-aero-devices-on-2024-motorcycles-go-all-out-on-being-f1-inspired-116089/"> Trackhouse Aprilia RS-GP </a>while nursing fractures from his high side at Sepang.</p>

<p>Three Aprilia riders,&nbsp; Espargaro and&nbsp;Maverick Vinales, finished in the top six. Jorge Martin (Pramac) and Fabio di Giannantonio (VR46), who won the race in November, were following closely on their Ducatis.</p>

<p>With a late surge, KTM's Brad Binder took ninth place, ahead of Marco Bezzecchi. Jack Miller, another KTM rider, finished eleventh. Miguel Oliveira showed improvement in handling the 2024 RS-GP, achieving a 12th place result. Alex Marquez closed the gap behind Bagnaia to a single second, with Fabio Quartararo's lead Yamaha finishing in fourteenth. During time assaults, Quartararo cautioned that Yamaha continues to have problems with the rear grip.</p>

<p>As a result of his late lap, Johann Zarco finished 17th for LCR and was named the top Honda rider. Even his teammate Takaaki Nakagami beat Joan Mir and Luca Marini's Repsol machines. While trying to make a comeback, Zarco and Mir both fell in the last few minutes.</p>

<p>After ignoring a few sluggish laps, rookie Acosta showed encouraging performance across the entire distance, but she was a little slower than Binder.</p>

<p>With an astounding 351.7 km/h, Bagnaia snatched first place on the speed table. The top five riders averaged 346.7 km/h. The two Yamaha riders Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins stood out. Quartararo averaged 346.3 km/h while Rins set the next highest one-off speed of 348.3 km/h.</p>

<p>With injuries sustained in last month's Superbike training crash,<a href="https://www.autox.com/motorsport-news/motogp-pramac-shares-update-on-franco-morbidellis-health-post-crash-116000/"> Franco Morbidelli, the new Pramac Ducati rider</a>, stayed out of the testing but was seen in the pits.</p>


2024 MotoGP Qatar Test: Ducati's Pecco Bagnaia Dominant on Second Day, Sets New Lap Record

Pecco Bagnaia, the reigning champion, showcased his dominance by obliterating the lap record at Qatar's Lusail circuit, bringing the 2024 MotoGP pre-season testing to an impressive conclusion.

<p>On the last day of the Sepang pre-season test, four riders, headed by the reigning MotoGP world champion Francesco Bagnaia, set lap times in the 1m56s zone, thereby dominating the day. Although his record was broken on Wednesday, Bagnaia still managed to set the stage for the first 1-minute and 56-second laps of the venue during Thursday's opening hour thanks to the ideal grip. Despite many attempts by competitors to launch single-lap attacks, Bagnaia's remarkable record of 1m56.682s remained unbroken all day long.</p>

<p>On the Pramac Ducati, Jorge Martin—who had set the fastest time on the first day—came very close to surpassing Bagnaia, clocking 1 minute, 56.854 seconds. Third place went to Enea Bastianini, the factory Ducati rider and the quickest qualifier the day before, who set a lap time of 1 minute 56.915. The fact that no MotoGP rider has ever managed a lap time of less than 1 minute and 57 seconds at Sepang before this day emphasises the importance of the accomplishment. With a time of 1 minute, 56.938 seconds, Alex Marquez of Gresini Ducati became the fourth rider on the day to break the 1 minute, 57-second barrier at Sepang, continuing the remarkable performance.</p>

<h2>2024 MotoGP Sepang Test: Day Three Result</h2>

<p>On the third day, Aleix Espargaro of Aprilia ended that streak by finishing fifth. <p>Marc Marquez, Gresini's high-profile recruit, jumped into the top ten, despite a disappointing showing in terms of single-lap pace on Tuesday and Wednesday. His encouraging racing speed suggests a promising beginning to the season. Meanwhile, Di Giannantonio, the newest member of VR46, had a tough time of it and ended up in seventh place while riding a bike setup he wasn't a fan of.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After a late-day crash, teammate Marco Bezzecchi finished 17th, putting him the only full-time Ducati rider to finish outside the top seven. On his Gas Gas-badged Tech3-run KTM, rookie Pedro Acosta maintained his impressive adaptability and finished seventh. With a timing of 1 minute and 57.365 seconds, he was the best KTM rider of the day, just a hundredth slower than Brad Binder's best RC16 performance from Wednesday.</p>

<p>Joan Mir, the top Honda rider, finished in ninth place. Coming in eleventh place overall,<a href="https://www.autox.com/motorsport-news/motogp-yamaha-reveals-2024-season-livery-with-indian-flag-colours-ahead-of-upcoming-sepang-test-116047/"> Fabio Quartararo stood out as Yamaha</a>'s fastest rider. He was four positions and three-tenths faster than his new teammate Alex Rins, demonstrating how the M1 still has problems in single-lap situations even though its power output has been improved.</p>

<p>Later this month, a two-day session in Qatar will wrap up the MotoGP pre-season testing, preparing for the opening round in early March at the same location.</p>


2024 MotoGP Sepang Test: Ducati's Pecco Bagnaia Dominant on Third Day, Sets New Lap Record

The current MotoGP champion, Pecco Bagnaia, set a new lap record for the premier class on the last day of the 2024 preseason test at Sepang. In his second test with Ducati, Marc Marquez finished sixth, six-tenths behind the Italian.

<p>After a dramatic three-way duel with Brad Binder and Francesco Bagnaia in the penultimate lap of the Thailand MotoGP, Jorge Martin came out on top. Although Martin got off to a great start, he faced an early challenge from Luca Marini, who was also aiming to cut into Francesco Bagnaia's championship lead. Martin was able to maintain his position because of his excellent braking, but Aleix Espargaro passed Marini on turn three. Even though Bagnaia came in third at the end of the race, he ended up in second place after Brad Binder was penalised for going wide.</p>

<p>Despite the race results, Francesco Bagnaia maintains his lead in the Riders' Standings with 366 points, having won six races and finished on the podium 11 times, including a recent victory in the Indonesia MotoGP. With 339 points, three victories, and seven podium finishes, Jorge Martin is rapidly closing in on Bagnaia.</p>

<p>After an incident on the first lap, Bagnaia struggled and fell to sixth place, allowing Binder and Alex Marquez to advance. Bagnaia and Marquez kept going at it, with Marquez eventually passing the defending world champion in the last turn of lap two. On lap five, Bagnaia retaliated aggressively by making a move at turn four, forcing Marquez off the track. Despite this, Marquez was able to hold on to his place. Finally, Bagnaia overtook Aleix Espargaro, and then Marc Marquez did the same.</p>

<h2>MotoGP Thailand GP: 2023 Thai GP Race Result</h2>

<p>Brad Binder was making a strong attempt to challenge Jorge Martin for the lead just before Francesco Bagnaia arrived on the scene, and he was making steady progress towards passing Martin in the last 10 laps. On the other side of the pitch, Marco Bezzecchi made a similar run, eventually passing teammate Luca Marini. On lap 20, Binder made a decisive ride for the lead by taking advantage of his stronger edge grip. Martin, however, quickly responded and regained his place. On lap 21, Binder made another effort to overtake in turn three, but Martin defended himself quickly again. On his third effort, Binder managed to pull ahead of the pursuing Ducati riders and stay there.</p>

<p>Regaining the lead with only two laps to go required an act of extraordinary bravery, and Jorge Martin displayed this in spades by making a key move under braking at turn three. Martin stood his ground against Binder and ultimately won the battle, despite an unexpected challenge from the outside from Bagnaia. However, on the final lap, Binder was penalised for going wide and dropped to third position. Due to the penalty, Bagnaia moved up to second place. Remarkably, only 0.253 seconds separated first through third place, making this the fourth closest podium in premier class history.</p>

<p>Aleix Espargaro of Aprilia came in fifth, and Marco Bezzecchi of VR46 took fourth following a battle with his teammate. The sixth position was taken by Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo.</p>

<p>Marc Marquez finished the race in seventh place, one spot ahead of Luca Marini's eighth-place finish. Following these riders were Fabio Di Giannantonio (Gresini) and Johann Zarco (Pramac). The second Yamaha of Franco Morbidelli finished in 11th, followed by the Honda of Joan Mir, the Ducati of Enea Bastianini, the LCR of Takaaki Nakagami, and the RNF of Raul Fernandez. Maverick Vinales (Aprilia) and Miguel Oliveira (RNF) had to pull out of the race due to mechanical problems.</p>
