The limited-edition&nbsp;911 GT3 R Rennsport, which is based on the Porsche&nbsp;911 GT3 R of the 992 generation, has been unveiled at Rennsport Reunion 7 at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, California, the US. With prices starting at $ 1,046,000 (roughly Rs 8.69 crore), the new track-only car can be had with a powerplant sourced from the Porsche 911 GT3 R race car. A 4.2-litre naturally aspirated, 6-cylinder, boxer engine cranks out 611bhp, an increase from 557bhp –&nbsp;it&nbsp;is an out-and-out race car that is not road-legal and not even GT3 competition-legal. The water-cooled, 4-valve engine with direct gasoline injection is designed to run on E25 fuel. When operating with pistons and camshafts, the E25 fuels are said to improve vehicle performance. BMW says that&nbsp;the&nbsp;911 GT3 R Rennsport revs all the way to 9,400rpm and tops out at 315km/h, thanks to a host of efficiency tweaks the Rennsport&nbsp;comes with. However, the engine can be tuned to run on conventional fuels. Note that the Rennsport will have a limited run of 77 units.&nbsp;

With the removal of the FIA GT3 regulations, a power output of up to 146bhp&nbsp;per litre is said to be a record-breaking value for the naturally aspirated engine of a GT racing vehicle. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 6-speed sequential gearbox. While we are on the wheels, they are special 18-inch rims from BBS wrapped in Michelin tyres.&nbsp;&nbsp;

As for the key benefits, the program is available pan-India and offers a comprehensive warranty on all pre-owned cars, which go through a rigorous 111-point inspection, for a minimum of 12 months (even if the new car warranty is expired), including access to the Porsche Assistance 24-hour roadside service. The 12-month warranty includes repairs to all vehicle components (including labour charges), except consumables and wear and tear parts such as wiper blades, tyres, fluids, and brake pads. While the term depends on the age of the vehicle, it covers any Porsche that has not completed 2,00,000kms and is up to six years old.

Plus, customers looking for a Porsche Approved model need not visit the dealership. They can simply head to the Porsche India website and browse the available inventory under the 'Porsche Finder' section. The launch event also witnessed the symbolic delivery of the first Porsche Approved vehicle in India, a 991-generation 911 GT3 with around 34,700km&nbsp;on the clock. Manolito Vujicic presented the keys to its new owner, Ajai Joseph. Interestingly, the rear-wheel-drive PDK-equipped 911 GT3's original colour was&nbsp;Jet Black Metallic, but it was&nbsp;changed to Lizard Green at the customer's request.

Porsche Approved pre-owned car business launched in India

Porsche India seems to have found an ingenious way to get around the global supply chain and semiconductor shortage issues. The solution comes from Porsche Approved, the German marque's pre-owned car business that's launched across all Porsche Centres in the country.

The 2022 922 911 GT3, which has been heavily inspired by Porsche's 911 RSR race car, has been launched in India. The sportscar also features a powerplant sourced from the Porsche 911 Cup car.

The 992-Gen Porsche 911 GT3 has been launched in India, and the prices start at Rs 2.49 Crore (ex-showroom). For no additional cost, the 2022 911 GT3 can be had with a touring package as well.

The 992-Gen Porsche 911 GT3 made its global debut back in February 2021, when the 911 GT3 adopted Porsche’s race learnings and put them to use on the streets. The 992-Gen 911 GT3 gets a double-wishbone suspension system – It is found in Porsche’s 911 RSR race car. Additionally, the 911 GT3 gets a swan-neck rear wing and adjustable front diffuser, which have been borrowed from the 911 RSR race car as well.

The front wheel size is 20 inches, whereas, the rear gets a 21-inch set. This overall set-up has helped the 911 GT3 improve its handling and chop off 17 seconds from the record time of its predecessor around the Green Hell. The 2022 992-Gen 911 GT3 has lapped the Nurburgring in 6 minutes and 59.927 seconds.

The engine is a naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six unit, which has been sourced from the GT3 Cup car. The power output is marked at 503bhp and 470Nm, all of which is delivered as the engine revs to 9,000rpm. The sportscar is also offered with a six-speed three-pedal-manual box. But if you wish for the convenience of an automatic, the 911 GT3 also gets the option of a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.

The claimed 0 – 100 km/hr timing for the 2022 911 GT3 is 3.2&nbsp;seconds; however, the addition of the Touring Package makes the sports car slower by 0.5 seconds. The claimed top speed of the 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 is 318 km/h.

2022 Porsche 911 GT3 launched at Rs 2.49 Crore

With Narain Karthikeyan at the wheel, the Porsche 911 GT3 completed a lap of the Buddh International Circuit in a record time of 2 minutes 7.6 seconds. 

Just prior to its launch last year, the Mercedes-AMG GT R shattered the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) lap record by clocking a time of 2 minutes 9.8 seconds. The Mercedes supercar broke the previous lap record of the Audi R8 V10 Plus by an impressive 2.8 seconds. Now, Porsche has gone one-up over the Mercedes-AMG. With former Formula 1 racer Narain Karthikeyan at the wheel, the Porsche 911 GT3 took a complete lap of the circuit in just 2 minutes 7.6 seconds – a phenomenal 2.2 seconds faster than the AMG GT R. This makes the 911 GT3 the fastest street-legal production car in India. This record was officially certified by Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI).

Speaking about the lap record, Pavan Shetty, Director of Porsche India, added, “Across its 50-year history, the 911 has enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with the record books and we’re proud to see that tradition continue in India today. The lap record set here by the 911 GT3 is another example of the concentration of Porsche’s motorsport expertise into a high-performance sports car that also masters everyday driving. Porsche brought in the 911 GT3 to India last year. Powered by a 4.0-litre six-pot boxer motor, the 911 GT3 develops 493bhp and 540Nm. All of this power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed PDK auto box. Porsche claims that the car can do 0-100km/h in just 3.4 seconds and record a top speed of 318km/h. At the BIC, however, the car recorded a top speed of 262km/h. To pull out such performance, Porsche has not also worked hugely on weight reduction. The 911 GT3 weighs just 1,430 kilos with a tank full of fuel. Porsche has fitted it with a carbon rear wing to ensure a reduction in downforce without major weight gain. The weight of the front-end is also optimised for better airflow. The Porsche 911 GT3 is priced at Rs 2.31 crore in India (ex-showroom).&nbsp;

Porsche has announced that the latest 911 GT3 just set a new fast time at the Nordschleife beating the old model by a huge margin.

At the hands of Porsche Test Driver Lars Kern, the latest 911 GT3 has just set its time at Nordschleife, Nürburgring.&nbsp;The new 911 GT3 set a time of 7 minutes, 12.7 seconds which not only is the fastest road legal 911 GT3 time, but is also 12.3 seconds faster than the previous model. This makes it the second fastest Porsche after the 918 Spyder hybrid hypercar at the Nurburgring.

With the latest 911 GT3, Porsche brought back the manual transmission with a 6-speed gearbox from the hardcore 911 R. But Porsche will only put that version into production later this year in October. Therefore, Kern was given the 493bhp, naturally aspirated, 4.0-litre, flat-six powered sports car with its standard 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) automatic transmission. The new GT3 is equipped with rear-axle steering and was riding on Michelin Sport Cup 2 N1 tyres which are offered as standard to customers. These specs were identical to the car which was used to set the lap time at the Nurburgring.

Andreas Preuninger who is the Director GT Product Line at Porsche stated that a few years ago, such lap times at the Nurburgring could only be achieved by thoroughbred racing cars with slick tyres.

Frank-Steffen Walliser, Vice President Motorsport and GT cars at Porsche said; “By achieving this time, we have emphatically proven that the new 911 GT3 not only provides the best driving experience, but can also deliver an impressive performance on the Nordschleife. The focus was on optimising the driving quality and adapting to the slight increase in engine power”.

To set an optimum lap time at the Nurburgring, not only is a brave and well trained driver required for the task, mother nature also plays a major part. Porsche claims that the atmospheric conditions were ideal for the test with an air temperature of 8 degrees and track temperature of 14 degrees Celsius.

If that’s music to your ears then the naturally aspirated 493bhp 4-litre flat, six-cylinder engine will certainly catch your attention as the powerplant remains unchanged from the 911 GT3 Cup racing car.

Coming straight to the point, i.e. performance, of course. The automatic version does 0-100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and boasts a top speed of 318km/h. While the more engaging manual trim does 100 km/h from standstill in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 320km/h. Well, these figures are very much expected from the 911 GT3 after all its power-to-weight ratio is 2.86 kg/hp.

Flying through bends and staying planted on&nbsp;straights is what the new 911 GT3 does best. Thanks to a redesigned chassis with rear-axle steering and lightweight construction, the new Porsche has even better driving dynamics and handling characteristics. The new two-seater sits around 25 mm lower than the 911 Carrera S. With dynamic engine mounts and the rear differential lock, this gives the 911 GT3 a boost in the driving dynamics department.

This road-approved sportscar has an imposing carbon rear wing, which increases its downforce. The lightweight front end and front spoiler have been optimised for an even better airflow. Further aerodynamic enhancements are very much noticeable on the lightweight rear end with exhaust air openings and on the new diffusor.

The new &nbsp;911 GT3 sports steering wheel with a diameter of 360 mm, which is borrowed from the 918 Spyder. The Porsche Sports seats Plus get enhanced seat side bolsters and mechanical fore/aft adjustment. The seat height and backrests are adjusted electronically. Porsche offers three additional seat variants for the 911 GT3 : The adaptive Sports seats Plus boast electrical adjustment of all seat functions (18-way). The second option is sports bucket seats with folding backrest, integrated thorax airbag and manual fore/aft adjustment. The third variant is full bucket seats made from light carbon fibre-reinforced plastic in carbon-weave finish.
