<p>In the Range Rover lineup, there are some stunning products, and the Velar is a unique offering amongst them. It’s an absolute looker, and yet, is positioned uniquely, for it offers a rather stylish design, and yet offers the traditional Range Rover functionality at the same time.</p>

<h2>Range Rover Velar Review: Stylish Upgrade</h2>

<p>For 2024, Velar gets a styling refresh, but the overall design stays true to the original’s “reductive design” language that went on to be adopted by the product range – similar to the Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport with their sleek lines. The main difference here being the swept back roofline which differentiates the Velar from its siblings. The updates include the latest family grille and reshaped LED headlamps with streamlined running lights. At the rear, designers accentuated the Velar’s overhang with a new bumper and LED taillamps with a 3D effect and brighter illumination. There are other small changes to the design too, but mostly, the Velar remains perhaps the most stylish of the products from the Range Rover line up, and has a distinct edge over its cousins when it comes to design kudos.</p>

<p>On the inside though, the Velar keeps its itself very near to absolute luxury with its tactile interiors, as well as large screens that dot the dashboard. As with its other siblings, the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/land-rover/range-rover-velar/">Velar</a> gains a single, 11.4-inch curved touchscreen that now handles all infotainment and climate functions. Running JLR’s latest Pivi Pro system, its greatly improved despite an increased workload, and integrates wireless everything: Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and OTA updates, along with Alexa.</p>

<p>There is, of course, a lower screen on the dashboard, which is used to manage the Terrain Response 2 system for off-road excursions, meaning the larger, main screen is now tasked with selecting one of the seven settings for varied environments. Of course, being a Range Rover, Hill Descent Control and All-Terrain Progress Control are standard, mainly for drivers who like to take their machines on steep or slippery terrain.</p>

<h2>Range Rover Velar Review: Power Upgrade</h2>

<p>Taking it on the highway, and in urban traffic though, I felt that the 2.0-litre does the job admirably, but I might prefer a bigger engine. In most conditions, the 247bhp engine with its 365Nm of torque was adequate, but on long highways, you could always sense that the Velar could do with a bigger engine. Suspension wise, however, there were no complaints as the Velar dealt with all kind of conditions with aplomb and was very adept with dealing with bad surfaces despite being on large 20-inch wheels. The steering offered a decent amount of feel, and when it comes to driving modes, after sampling with the various options on offer, I preferred the Sport mode, as it offered better drivability and more urgent gearshifts.</p>

<p>The one question I always get about the Velar is its practicality, and to be honest, that’s something I’ve always struggled to answer. Like its smaller sibling – <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/car-news/2024-range-rover-evoque-launched-in-india-at-rs-6790-lakh-115980/">the Evoque which&nbsp;has also got an update for 2024</a>&nbsp;– the Velar is something you buy to make a style statement. So practicality is not its finest attribute. However, for what it’s worth, the Velar will seat five adults with comfort, and also take your weekend luggage without an issue. So that’s not really an issue. And, let’s add to that the fact that it can most probably off-road better than most SUVs in the world without a worry.</p>

<h2>Range Rover Velar Review: Desirablity</h2>

<p>Like every other product in the Range Rover family, the Velar is a highly desirable luxury <a href="https://www.autox.com/suv-cars-in-india/">SUV</a> that has the image and sophistication to justify its price tag. It’s not all flash and no substance, as the interior is a lovely place to sit with its selection of tasteful materials and user-friendly technologies. It’s also quite nice to drive, and offers a very large amount of practicality for what it is.</p>

<p>The other aspect is that virtually no Velar – not in India, at least – will ever go off-road, but, nevertheless, the Velar offers you an insane amount of off-road ability for what is essentially a lifestyle focused product. So, where does that leave the Velar? Well, it is <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/industry-news/land-rover-range-rover-velar-prices-reduced-by-rs-640-lakh-in-india-check-new-prices-here-116254/">a very capable, stylish and versatile SUV</a>, but at the same time, costing nearly ₹1 crore on-road (if not more), it is also a very premium one. If I were a buyer, I would look at how much I value the style quotient when looking at the Velar, and that would be my primary choice for picking one up. However, if your primary drive is style, you would hardly find anything more stylish than the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/land-rover/range-rover-velar/price-in-new-delhi/">Velar at its price</a> point.</p>

The updated Range Rover Velar offers a unique package – stylish, yet capable – but what do we think of it after spending a few days on the road with it?

<p>Land Rover announced record sales of 3,582 units in the first three-quarters of FY24, registering a YoY increase of 93% in comparison to the previous fiscal year. The Range Rover and the Defender drove the revenue growth of the company by 250% and 150%, respectively, accounting for more than 75% of the company's sales. JLR India delivered 1,226 units in Q3 FY2024 (October-December 2023), a 74% increase compared to the same period last year. The revised Range Rover Velar saw an increased market demand during the period, with a year-on-year growth of 183%. Towards the end of Q3 FY24, the luxury manufacturer reported a robust order book, with a 92% year-on-year increase. Additionally, it stated that the current order book contains over eight months of sales and continues to expand each month. Furthermore, JLR's certified pre-owned business has witnessed an annual growth of 74% compared to the same period last year.</p>

<p>The new Range Rover Electric is slated to make its official international debut this year. A series of official photographs released last month revealed the SUV's wheel hub, door handles, charging outlet, front grille, and rear profile. Range Rover, Defender and More Help JLR India Register 93% YoY Sales Growth in First 9 Months of FY24

In the third quarter of FY24, JLR India reported cumulative sales of 1,226 vehicles, registering a year-on-year growth of 74%.

<p>Jaguar Land Rover India (JLR India) has announced a massive jump in sales in the first half of FY2023-24. In the April-September 2023 period, the Indian arm of the British manufacturer managed to sell 2,356 vehicles across the country, registering a&nbsp;growth of 105 per cent in comparison to the same period last year. JLR India said, of the 2,356 units sold, the brand's best-seller,&nbsp;the Land Rover Defender, accounted for about 43 per cent (or 1,000 units) of total sales. Other models&nbsp;that contributed to the brand's sales growth include the Land Rover Range Rover, the Range Rover Sport, and the updated Range Rover Velar. Moreover, JLR India's order book also rose. It currently&nbsp;has&nbsp;90 per cent of units yet to be delivered&nbsp;– 70 per cent for either the Range Rover, the Range Rover Sport, or the Defender. Meanwhile, the Range Rover has garnered over 750 bookings in India.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In terms of quarter-wise sales, the manufacturer delivered 1,308 units in the July-September period, reporting a year-on-year growth of 108 per cent. In the used car segment, it posted a growth of 83 per cent in H1 FY2023-24.</p>

<h2>Mercedes-Benz India Sales Performance From&nbsp;Jan. to Sept.&nbsp;</h2>

<p>In January to September 2023 period, Mercedes-Benz India delivered a total of 12,768 units in the country, representing a year-over-year (YoY) sales growth of 11 per cent.&nbsp;In comparison to the same period last year, the automaker&nbsp;sold 11,469 units.&nbsp;Mercedes-Benz said that these numbers were achieved despite&nbsp;supply constraints,&nbsp;which delayed&nbsp;the deliveries of the GLA, the GLC, and the GLS. And now, the British&nbsp;carmaker&nbsp;has revealed the 2023 Range Rover Velar facelift, which includes a slew of changes. However, it is only a mid-cycle refresh and not an all-new model, which is anticipated to launch very soon. For the time being, Range Rover has revamped&nbsp;the Velar with slight cosmetic modifications&nbsp;and major interior enhancements&nbsp;to compete with the likes of the Audi Q7 and the Mercedes-Benz GLE.&nbsp;The new SUV will look familiar if you've seen one before. 2023 Range Rover Velar SUV Revealed, PHEV Variant Gets 64km EV Range

The Range Rover Velar has received a mid-lifecycle upgrade, which includes a revised exterior design, new tech, and modified powertrain. The most notable change is to the battery pack of the facelifted SUV due to which it now has an EV-only range of 64 kilometres.

<p>Land Rover has launched the 2021 Range Rover Velar. The new Velar gets a few updates, and it’s priced at Rs 79.87 lakh for the petrol variant and Rs 80.71 lakh for the diesel variant. Both prices are ex-showroom. The Range Rover Velar rivals the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Porsche Macan, and Jaguar F-Pace in the Indian market.</p>

<p>Now, the feature list of the new Velar is longer than before; even the mechanicals have also been updated. The 2.0-litre diesel engine on offer is the same as before but makes approximately 20bhp more than that of the model it replaces. The diesel mill now gets a mild-hybrid tech, increasing its overall power to 201bhp and 430Nm of torque. The petrol motor on offer is in the same state of tune as before and pumps out 246bhp and 365Nm of torque. Both engines come paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, coupled with an all-wheel-drive system as standard.</p>

<p>As mentioned above, the MY21 Range Rover Velar now gets air suspensions, which in turn is likely to offer improved ride quality. However, we shall reserve our judgment until we experience the SUV in its updated form. Other SUVs in the Land Rover’s India line-up, namely the Range Rover Evoque and the Land Rover Discovery Sport, are expected to get similar updates as the MY21 Range Rover Velar.</p>
