The Ferrari 248 F1 is famous as the car driven by seven-time Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher during his final season with Ferrari in 2006.

<p>While Charles Leclerc did earn Ferrari's first pole of the season at last weekend's Azerbaijan Grand Prix, he ultimately couldn't do much to defend his position against Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen, and Ferrari ultimately had to settle for tyre conservation. <h2>F1: When Will Ferrari Upgrades Arrive?</h2>

<p>Frederic Vasseur, the team principal of the Ferrari, has stated that more upgrades would be made in the near future. The next Miami event will serve as the launching pad for that new course. Further improvements will be made over the coming weeks, with the upcoming race weekend serving as the primary focus. As a result, races with sprints, or those not highly suited to developmental changes - Vasseur specifically cited Monaco as an example - will see only minor enhancements, while in other races a more comprehensive package will be introduced.</p>

<h2>F1: The Miami Grand Prix</h2>

<p>Formula One free practice on Friday has been moved up somewhat ahead of schedule for the forthcoming Miami Grand Prix. This weekend marks Formula One's second visit to the Miami International Autodrome, however, the originally scheduled start timings for both first and second practice have been moved forward. On-track events on Saturday and Sunday in Florida will continue at their regular timings.</p>

F1: Ferrari Confirms Upgrades for the SF-23 at Miami Grand Prix

Miami Grand Prix will be the site of Ferrari's major upgrade for their SF-23. This will let the team to build the car on its strong performance in Baku, but Vasseur acknowledges they can't yet threaten Red Bull.

<p>Lewis Hamilton smashed the 11-year qualifying lap record around the Suzuka International Racing Course to take his 71st career pole position to further increase his chances of widening the points gap to championship rival Sebastian Vettel.</p>

<p>As was expected of the 2017-spec cars - that have a wider track, wider tyres and 25 percent more downforce than the 2016 F1 cars - Hamilton's time of 1min27.319sec around the 18-turn, 5.807km circuit was 3.3 seconds faster than last year's pole position time but also 1.6 seconds faster than the lap set by Michael Schumacher in qualifying for the 2006 edition of the event.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In fact the top six classified drivers went under the 1min28.954sec mark set by the German legend in his final year with Ferrari.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Mercedes AMG <a href="https://www.autox.com/formula-one-sports/">F1</a> driver will be joined on the front row by Vettel after his teammate Valtteri Bottas received a five-place grid penalty due to the gearbox on his car being changed. Vettel was a long way off Hamilton's pace, however, and after scoring just 12 points out of a possible 50 over the last two races (where Ferrari had a clear advantage over Mercedes) he stands to lose further ground in the title battle.&nbsp;</p>

<p>KImi Raikkonen qualified sixth but will also receive a five-place penalty. The top ten was completed by the Force India-Mercedes of Esteban Ocon and Sergio Perez, Williams-Mercedes' Felipe Massa and McLaren-Honda's Fernando Alonso.</p>
