<p>Honda Motorcycle &amp; Scooter India (HMSI) has disclosed its sales figures for March 2024. The company posted total sales of&nbsp;3,86,455 units, marking an 82 per cent year-over-year increase. Of&nbsp;the total units,&nbsp;domestic sales stood at 3,58,151 units and exports at&nbsp;28,304 units. The former recorded an&nbsp;81% year-over-year&nbsp;growth in March FY2024, while the latter grew&nbsp;95 per cent&nbsp;over the corresponding&nbsp;period of FY2023.&nbsp;For the financial year 2023-24, HMSI reported total sales of&nbsp;48,93,522 units, up from&nbsp;43,50,943 units retailed in the financial year 2022-23.</p>

<p>HMSI's overall growth can be attributed primarily to the Activa, the company's bestselling scooter. Within a year after it sold more than 3 crore units of the Activa in the country, HMSI announced a major milestone of&nbsp;delivering over&nbsp;6 crore (60 million) two-wheelers across India. Of which, the Activa accounted for 53 per cent of HMSI's cumulative sales since 2001. Moreover, the company had <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/bike-news/honda-activa-achieves-3-crore-sales-mark-in-india-113728/">announced a&nbsp;3 crore unit sales</a> milestone for the scooter&nbsp;in June 2023.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>In terms of mechanicals, the Honda Activa gets two engine options – a 109.51cc single-cylinder air-cooled unit with 7.68bhp and 8.79Nm and a 124cc air-cooled mill with 8.1bhp and 10.4Nm. The scooter ranges from Rs 76,234 for the standard version to Rs 88,979 (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the Activa 125 H-Smart. In the segment,&nbsp;the Honda Activa rivals the TVS Jupiter, Hero Pleasure Plus, Hero Maestro Edge, and Hero Xoom.</p>

<h2>HMSI&nbsp;Sales Growth: Other Contributors&nbsp;</h2>

<p>Other <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/industry-news/shine-100-cb350-and-more-help-honda-2w-record-20-year-over-year-sales-growth-in-november-115434/">contributors to the sales growth include the Shine</a>, Dio, H’ness CB350, and Hornet. Speaking of the Shine, the company's&nbsp;125cc commuter bike surpassed the 30-lakh unit sales mark&nbsp;last year in Western India (Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat).&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Powering the <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/bike-news/2023-honda-shine-125-launched-with-obd-2-compliance-in-india-at-rs-79800-113636/">Honda Shine 125</a> is a 125cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, which includes Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) technology, enhanced Smart Power (eSP), and a Honda ACG starter. This engine meets OBD2 (onboard diagnostics)&nbsp;compliance and is also E20 fuel-ready. The power and torque figures stand at 10.6bhp at 7,500rpm and 11Nm at 6,000rpm, respectively.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<h2>HMSI: Recent Launches</h2>

<p>The year 2023-24 saw Honda bring&nbsp;five new models into the Indian market, namely&nbsp;the&nbsp;SP160, Dio 125, CB350, <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/bike-news/suzuki-v-strom-800de-vs-honda-xl750-transalp-spec-comparison-which-one-should-you-buy-116646/">XL750 Transalp</a> and the NX500. Besides,&nbsp;the company also introduced&nbsp;a range of special editions, including the <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/bike-news/honda-activa-limited-edition-launched-in-india-at-rs-80734-114768/">Activa Limited Edition</a>, SP125 Sports Edition, and Repsol Editions (Hornet 2.0 and Dio 125).</p>

<h2>HMSI: Upcoming Launches</h2>

<p>Honda is planning on&nbsp;bringing&nbsp;the electric derivative of the Activa in 2024. The Honda Activa Electric will feature a fixed battery setup and offer a maximum speed of 50km/h. Following this will be the second electric scooter built around a new platform. This will be a high-performance electric vehicle&nbsp;with a&nbsp;swappable battery setup.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Citroen has expanded the eC3 lineup in India with a new top-spec variant—Shine. Priced at Rs 13.20 lakh (starting, ex-showroom), the new Citroen&nbsp;eC3 Shine is approximately Rs 40,000 more expensive than the Feel variant, which it replaced as the highest-spec model. Along with other new features, it gets electrically adjustable&nbsp;wing mirrors, a reverse camera, and a rear defogger. The new top-spec model also comes with 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, a leather-covered steering wheel, and front and rear skid plates. The car was formerly available in only two versions: Live and Feel. The new variant—Shine—is the highest-spec model to join these two eC3 variants in India. For an additional Rs 15,000 each, it comes with dual-tone color options and a Vibe Pack just like the Feel version. <h2>Citroen eC3: Under the Bonnet&nbsp;</h2>

<p>Citroen hasn't modified the hatchback's drivetrain. It is still driven by an electric motor that powers the front axle and a 29.2 kWh underfloor battery pack. With 56bhp and 143Nm, the vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 60km/h in 6.8 seconds. Its stated range is 320 kilometres on a single charge. The EV can be charged from 0% to 80% in 57 minutes with the DC fast charger. However, it takes about 10.5 hours to accomplish the same using a 15A connection.</p>

Despite not having made an official announcement, Citroen is expected to launch the forthcoming automatic variant in India on January 29. It is likely to be more expensive than the manual version, which starts at Rs 9.99 lakh. Alongside an automated gearbox, the upcoming version may get a few extra connectivity features.</p>
