<p>The Triumph Speed 400 went on sale earlier this month for an incredibly appealing price of Rs 2.23 lakh (ex-showroom). Within days of its release, the newly launched bike has had nothing short of a spectacular start as it received almost 10,000 bookings in just a few days. According to a few industry reports, the motorcycle currently commands a significantly long waiting period of about 10 – 16 weeks, depending on the location. Customers who have booked the bike from the dealers are being informed of this. However, this waiting period will probably go down once more Triumph dealerships are opened by Bajaj in the country. The company mentioned its 5000 unit per month manufacturing capacity in its new Chakan plant for the Triumph bikes at the time of the launch. But if there is substantial demand, the capacity can be increased.</p>

<p>The firm's initial strategy was to start production in stages in order to set up a well-functioning facility. While the global launch is anticipated in early 2024, initial manufacturing will exclusively focus on meeting customer demand within India. Further, the production facility will develop bikes to be exported as assembly kits to Triumph factories in the UK, Brazil, and Thailand. With this approach, Triumph will be able to stabilise its pricing and maintain it throughout all markets.</p>

<p>The bike comes equipped with dual-channel ABS, ride-by-wire throttle, a switchable traction control system, full LED lighting, a semi-digital instrument cluster, and an anti-theft immobiliser. It's crucial to remember that, in contrast to the Scrambler 400X, the Speed 400's dual-channel ABS cannot be switched. On the other hand, the instrument cluster contains a sizable analogue speedometer and an LCD screen, with a tachometer, fuel gauge, and gear indicator. The manufacturer also provides a broad selection of up to 25 additional accessories for the Speed 400, enabling users to modify and customise their motorcycles in accordance with their preferences and requirements.</p>

<p>The Triumph Speed 400 is propelled by a 398cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, which is coupled to a six-speed transmission and generates 40bhp of maximum power at 8,000rpm and 37.5Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. The motor is set up to deliver its maximum power in the low to midrange, dropping down close to the end. The gearbox functions are aided by a slipper and assist clutch system.&nbsp;</p>

<h2>Triumph Speed 400: Hardware Details</h2>

<p>The braking system of the bike includes front and rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS, while the suspension hardware consists of USD front forks and a mono-shock. The Scrambler 400X benefits from a larger 320mm front disc in comparison to the Speed 400's smaller 300mm one. The latter&nbsp;has 17-inch alloy wheels with road-biased tyres, while the former has 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels with dual-purpose tyres – 100/90 front and 140/80 rear.&nbsp;</p>

<h2>Triumph Speed 400: Design</h2>

<p>Triumph's newly released Speed 400 features an alluring retro-modern style influenced by the company's larger-displacement models, such the Speed Twin. It has a curved gas tank with knee recesses, a step-up seat, a side-mounted exhaust, a circular headlamp, and a semi-digital instrument panel. Its aesthetic appeal is further enhanced with a classic Triumph engine profile with a triangle logo, a finned cylinder head, and exhaust header clamps. The road-oriented variant of the Triumph 400cc series also sports 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends. Carnival Red with Phantom Black, Caspian Blue with Storm Grey, and Phantom Black with Storm Grey are the three colour combinations that are offered.</p>
