Before we get to the actual functioning of the Bluetooth module and other features, let’s touch upon design and features. The new SBA-8 is designed to be a sport touring lid and its styling reflects that. It is a modular helmet and features an openable lower half through a button placed inside near the chin area. The design of the helmet is sleek and even gets a rear winglet for that sporty look. Furthermore, the SBA-8 is available in a variety of colour options to choose from. Unfortunately, the unit we had for our test was finished in gloss black and that failed to achieve any wow factor from onlookers whilst riding. As for safety, the SBA-8 is ISI-rated and constructed of a high-impact resistant thermoplastic shell. This is nothing to really write home about but at least does cover the bare basics in terms of safety.

However, what it lacks in safety additions, it makes up for in comfort. It features a well-padded and perforated interior, which helps while riding in peak summer. During our test, we ended up using the helmet in extremely hot weather for a long ride and we had no complaints by the end of it. Over that, I usually wear a size 57-58 helmet and a size Medium is what fits me best. Over that, it has plenty of ventilation to help during hot weather. You have multiple inlet and outlet exhausts which did a decent job while the visor was shit. However, where it stands out is the features that it has to offer, namely the built-in bluetooth module, LED lights and flip-down sun visor.

The SBA-8 features Bluetooth 5.2 and its controls are placed on the left-hand side of the helmet. Credit to Steelbird where it's due, the buttons are easy to place, easy to press and feel very tactile. It was fairly easy to connect, too and I had the system up and running within five minutes. Steelbird claims that its battery gives you 48 hours of talk time backup and 110 hours of standby backup. We weren’t able to test those claims but we only charged it once over a three-day test period.&nbsp;

With that, you get a type-C charging port and a charging time of 2 hours. The audio was fairly loud and clear for calls but not the best for listening to music. The second feature which stood out was two LEDs at the back. These came in handy as power on/off indication for the Bluetooth system, added safety while riding at night and lastly, look cool. However, its biggest downside is the fact that this is a non-IP67-rated system, which means it is best left for dry weather conditions. Which also seriously limits its use as a sport ‘touring’ helmet.

Overall, the Steelbird SBA-8 is a good-looking, smart helmet option for those who want basic safety and mobile connectivity at the most affordable rate for urban usage. The helmet is priced at Rs 3,999 and is available with a 1-year manufacturer warranty. However, the niggles I had to face were a flimsy visor mechanism, a lanky cable for the Bluetooth charging port and aforementioned, a lack of waterproof capability.

If you believe that a motorcycle is more than just a means of transport to get from point A to point B, you also stand by the fact that a helmet is an extension of one’s personality. Since I do as well, I found the new Steebird SBH-25 to be a rather handsome lid and wished to find out if it had the go to match the show. Factor in a price tag of Rs 2,199 and maximum ventilation being its key USP, it seemed the perfect fit to try out in these hot summer days. When we unpacked the review unit we were sent in, I found it to be even more stylish than it looked on paper. However, I admit, I might have gone a bit overboard with the Glossy Orange Neon colour I had chosen. It is bright and loud, which will be perfect for the safety and styling needs of younger riders though. Infact, the SBH-25 is available in more than 16 colour options and there should definitely be one to suit your taste. Overall, the design is quite upmarket and stylish, topped off with a build quality that is extremely satisfactory.

Diving deeper, I also noticed upon trying out the helmet that its cheek pads are quite soft. During the entire period of testing, the temperature in Delhi-NCR never dipped below 40-degrees and I must say, it is a breeze (pun intended)&nbsp;to use for hours-on-end without getting uncomfortable or the skin getting itchy in peak summer. From a safety standpoint, the cheek pads are thick and plush, which hold your head firmly. I had ordered a medium sized lid and it fit well but not tight. However, I seem to be on the smaller side for the medium shell size and the SBH-25's size M will fit a tad larger head even better. To add to that, it will get even looser over time with extended use. I wear a size 56-57 or size M on a regular basis and, you might want to keep that in mind while choosing a size for yourself.

The next aspect of the SBH-25 I’d like to point out is the visor swivel mechanism which seems decently robust, but does make the visor feel a little loose when opened or closed in a rushed manner. Though, the visor does lock firmly in place with a reassuring click in the open or close position. Even the dropdown sun visor has a solid feel, opening and clicking back into place rather securely. I tested the helmet on highways with triple digit speeds on the speedometer and you can be assured that the visor won't come flying open or the sun visor coming loose at any speeds. More than that, while I would have preferred a D-ring strap despite the modest price tag, the ratchet strap locks in place well enough, too. This certainly does give me confidence that the entire helmet won't come loose or fly off in the event of an accident, either.

From the moment you put the helmet on till the time you start riding, the SBH-25 feels light and super airy. One of the key USPs of the helmet, as I had mentioned, is the amount of ventilation it has to offer on top and the chin area. Though, only the vent at the bottom can be opened or closed. In total, you get six intake vents and six outlet vents. While the ventilation is sufficient for hot summer days, the lack of adjustability means that it would be a sore spot for winters and monsoons. In fact, even Steelbird advises on its Amazon page to not use this particular helmet in the rainy season.

When you start riding, it'll be clear that the SBH-25 seems perfect for city use. The visor opening is extremely wide, helping you get a true 180-degree field of vision. Not just that, the lightness and ventilation also help enhance the feeling of openness. In my opinion, the helmet works best at speeds between 80-100 km/h. However, the amount of wind gushing in and hitting your eye makes it difficult to see past the 120km/h mark, akin to how it feels riding without a helmet. The helmet stays on firmly but just the amount of air rushing in will make you back off the throttle. Another downside of the rudimentary air cutouts is the occasional dust particle or exhaust soot from trucks it tends to let in.&nbsp;

Though, it has to be said, the SBH-25 is one of the sturdiest I've experienced at this price point at high speeds. While I'm sure it hasn't been tested for aerodynamics, the sporty shape stands up to wind blast quite well. So to sum up, the Steelbird SBH-25 is an affordable helmet that is stylish and light, with extreme ventilation for summer riding being its key USP. Add in the sun visor feature and plush cheek pads, it feels premium too. I would just advise against using it in heavy rainfall or for your high speed thrills (which you shouldn’t be doing anyway) for safety reasons.

The Steelbird SBH-25 Breeze is a stylish, ISI-certified helmet that is affordable and has been designed specifically for riding in hot weather. So, can it deliver what it promises? We put it through its paces.

With the craze for boldly designed lids at an all-time high, options like the SA-5 are a welcome addition. It aims to offer everything you want without breaking the bank. However, it would be naïve to expect it to match helmets like Arai and Shoei, given its price tag of just ₹4,679; however, it does try to make an honest effort. 
 
The outer shell of the helmet is crafted from high-impact-resistant thermoplastic, with high- and low-density EPS layers inside. It is both ISI and DOT certified, but an ECE certification would have been better, similar to its competitors, like Axor Apex and MT Hummer. However, if you're prime requirment is safety, helmets like the <a href="http://www.autox.com/exclusive-stories/maximum-safety-mt-thunder-4-helmet-review-115256/">feauture-loaded&nbsp;MT Thunder 4</a>&nbsp;might be the one to go for. In terms of safety, what I like about it is the presence of a D-ring enclosure, which is actually a necessity if you wish to wear it on the track. That said, during the test, I couldn’t get the desired snug fit, despite my efforts to tighten the strap.

The Steelbird SA-5 does offer decent features, which many potential buyers may appreciate. It comes standard with a scratch-resistant clear visor, along with a pin lock visor for added convenience. The visor also features a quick-release mechanism, which is easy to use. Additionally, there are plenty of air vents, including a chin vent and multiple vents on top –Steelbird calls its Air Booster system – to keep riders happy on hot summer days. While using it, I never found the need for more vents, but I did notice a bit of wind buffeting at higher speeds around the edge of the visor. If you ride in hot areas and require ventilation, plus safety, open-face helmets like the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.autox.com/exclusive-stories/steelbird-blauer-pilot-helmet-review-open-sesame-116122/">Steelbird Blauer Pilot</a>&nbsp;are also an option. Another niggle, which ties into the loose-fitting nature of the helmet, is that you feel a discernable turbulence inside the helmet once you exceed 130 – 140 km/h.

Overall, I think the new Steelbird SA-5 Monster is a good fit (pardon the pun) for those seeking a helmet with a great design, styling, and features under the ₹5,000 mark.
