<p>The&nbsp;Kawasaki Eliminator is powered by the same&nbsp;451cc,&nbsp;parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine as the Ninja 400.&nbsp;Thanks to a 6.8mm longer stroke, larger 32mm throttle bodies, and a bigger 5.8-litre airbox,&nbsp;the engine&nbsp;offers better low-end torque delivery and increased displacement.&nbsp;Power and torque figures are rated at 45bhp at 9,000rpm and 42.6Nm at 6,000rpm, respectively. <p>On the other hand, the&nbsp;Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 uses a 648cc,&nbsp;parallel-twin, air/oil-cooled motor. Despite its displacement surplus, the cruiser from the Indian bikemaker&nbsp;makes only 2bhp more power than the&nbsp;Eliminator, while the torque output stands at 52Nm at 5,650rpm. <p>In terms of rear suspension, the&nbsp;Kawasaki Eliminator and the&nbsp;Super Meteor 650 are the same. Both cruisers feature&nbsp;a&nbsp;twin shock absorber set-up at the back. <p>The Motoverse Edition uses the same 648cc parallel-twin cylinder engine as its other 650cc siblings, namely, the Continental GT, Interceptor, and Super Meteor. <p>According to the homologation document, the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 measures 2,170mm in length, which makes it 90mm shorter than the Super Meteor. The width and height of the Shotgun 650 stand at 820mm and 1,105mm, respectively. Furthermore, it features a wheelbase of 1,465m, which is 35mm shorter than the Super Meteor.</p>

<p>Although the kerb weight is not available as of now, the approval document says that its gross weight is 428kgs, which means that the kerb weight could be about 248kgs, making it heavier than the 241kg Super Meteor.</p>

Both these problems, however, go for a toss when you show the Super Meteor 650 a smooth stretch of tarmac – the Yamuna Expressway, for instance – and simply let its motor rev at highway speeds. It’s then that you realise its true capabilities. Despite being a cruiser, the SM650 exhibits an impressive ability to swiftly cover distances, especially when placed in an environment that complements its strengths.</p>

<p>The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, then, is a bit of a mixed bag. It excels in certain aspects and manages to be just about adequate in others. As for its lap time, we already knew that it wouldn’t set the lap time chart on fire, but with a lap time of 01.22.8, the Super Meteor just about manages to hold its ground.</p>

autoX Awards 2023: In recent years, Royal Enfield has embarked on a trajectory towards making bigger bikes, and the first product to come out of this was the Super Meteor 650. Now, the notion of ‘bigger’ is not limited to just dimensions in this context; in fact, it also includes better quality.

<p>Ahead of the 2023 EICMA next month, Moto Morini, the Italian motorcycle brand, has added the newest bike, the Calibro 650, to its lineup.&nbsp;Moto Morini's International site has only two products – the Seiemmezzo and the X-Cape – listed currently, but this new product will expand the company's lineup further. Whether this 650cc cruiser will make its entry into the domestic market remains to be seen, however, industry reports suggest that the bike is not likely&nbsp;to be introduced in time to come. Positioned as the closest rival to the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, the Calibro 650 is a cruiser-styled bike with a round headlight with a fairing around it, a svelte fuel tank measuring 15 litres, a small smoked visor, a scooped-out split-styled seat setup, a semi-digital instrument console, and a relaxed rider triangle. <p>The Royal Enfield Shotgun 650, based on the SG650 Concept, adopts a bobber-style design and could be positioned alongside the Super Meteor 650 cruiser, which was introduced in 2022. <p>According to the approval certificate, the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 measures 2,170mm in length, which makes it 90mm shorter than the Super Meteor. The width and height of the Shotgun 650 stand at 820mm and 1,105mm, respectively. It features a wheelbase of 1,465m, which is 35mm shorter than the Super Meteor. Although the kerb weight figure is not available as of now, the approval document says that its gross weight is 428kgs, which means that the kerb weight could be about 248kgs, making it heavier than the 241kg Super Meteor. Expect the bike to hold up to 15 litres of fuel, just like the Meteor.</p>

Royal Enfield has disclosed its sales figures for April 2023. It has registered an overall growth of 18% in the last month. According to reports, the bikemaker is expected to launch a range of models in our market shortly.

<p>Being comfortable on one’s own motorcycle, or preferred motorcycle format, is great.&nbsp;But sometimes, going over to the dark side can be an enlightening experience. Recently, I did a comparison&nbsp;in which&nbsp;I compared three different motorcycles; the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, the KTM 390 Adventure and the BMW G310 RR. From the looks of it, this is as odd as it gets as all three of them bring something completely different to the table, and I thought so too when I began working on the story. The plan was to spend a week with all three, and to go through a tank of fuel on each one of them. Little did I know that this little exercise would end up being a whole new revelation for me.</p>

<p>Let me set some context here by saying that I love a naked motorcycle or what some might call a roadster. I love the simplicity of it, and for me, it’s that one style that can do it all. Over the last one &nbsp;year, I have been having flirtatious encounters with ADVs and sport-tourers which have left me thinking about them, but I have always retorted back to naked’s being the best there is out there for me. But this time however, it was different. This time, all three motorcycles were parked at home for a week, and therefore, I got to actually live with all of them and see what they were actually like in the real world on an everyday basis. And that changed things.</p>

<p>You see, while I might have been spending time thinking about ADVs and sport-tourers, you wouldn’t ever catch me dead on a cruiser. I simply never liked the style. It was too laid back for me. I like to rev out my motorcycles and feel (read as go) fast on them, and a cruiser just doesn’t do that! And then, I rode the Super Meteor. It’s everything a cruiser is, and more. It’s comfortable, relaxed, it can go fast with a flick of your wrist, the braking hardware is impressive, and while it is not a corner-carver, I wasn’t afraid of showing it my moves around one. It wasn’t a hair-raising experience or an adrenaline rush, but, was it enough?</p>

<p>Surprisingly, yes. Unknowingly, I had accepted a cruiser with open arms, so much so that I often found myself picking up the keys to the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/royal-enfield/super-meteor-650/">Super Meteor</a> over the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/ktm/390-adventure/">390 ADV</a> or the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/bmw/g310-rr/">G310 RR</a> for my morning milk runs. All of that because despite its 241kg kerb weight, it didn’t feel like a chore riding the RE. Now, yes, it didn’t win the comparison. In fact, it came last, but, that’s not the motorcycle’s fault. The only reason it found itself in that position was because the rear suspension was so stiff, and being a cruiser and all, you know there’s not a lot of leeway there. The problem is our roads, or the lack of them. I am not complaining about the new highways that are being constructed at a mind-blowing pace, but rather the city roads which aren’t always in the best of shape.</p>

<h2>So, what’s the point of all this?&nbsp;</h2>

<p>Earlier, I wouldn’t have bothered twice about looking at a cruiser.
