<p>The all-new Triumph Scrambler 400 X has been launched in the Indian market. This is one of the first bikes <strong>—</strong>another being the Speed 400<strong>—</strong>to be born out of the collaboration between Triumph and Bajaj, and it is manufactured in the country at Bajaj's Chakan-2 plant. Positioned as the closest rival to the KTM 390 Adventure X ADV, the Scrambler 400 X carries a sticker price of Rs 2.63 lakh (ex-showroom), which makes it about Rs 18,000 more affordable than the X-variant of the KTM 390 Adventure. Priced at Rs 2.81 lakh (ex-showroom), the sub 400cc ADV is the new entry-level variant in the&nbsp;390 Adventure line-up and is&nbsp;Rs 58,000 less expensive than the standard version, and this pricing has been made possible by cutting down the electronics package.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Triumph Scrambler 400 X's performance figures are comparable to those of the KTM 390 Adventure X. A 398cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine mated to a 6-speed gearbox (with a slip and assist clutch) powers the former. Power and torque figures are rated at&nbsp;39.5bhp at 8,000rpm and 37.5Nm at 6,500rpm, respectively.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p dir="ltr">The&nbsp;KTM 390 Adventure X also uses a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, but with a slightly smaller displacement. A 373.27cc, 4-valve engine with a dual overhead camshaft is&nbsp;calibrated to produce&nbsp;42.9bhp at 9,000rpm and&nbsp;37Nm of peak torque at 7,000rpm. On offer is a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper-clutch.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Scrambler 400 X's engine features&nbsp;a hybrid spine, perimeter, and tubular steel frame&nbsp;with a bolt-on rear sub-frame. This setup&nbsp;is suspended with the help of 43mm upside-down forks at the front and a monoshock with preload adjustment at the rear, both&nbsp;offering 150mm of wheel travel. Consequently, the seat height has increased to 835mm and ground clearance to 195mm. Stopping power comes from&nbsp;a larger 320mm disc&nbsp;with a ByBre four-piston calliper positioned radially at the front (300mm unit on the Speed 400) and a 230mm disc with a single-piston&nbsp;calliper at&nbsp;the back. In comparison to the Speed 400, the Scrambler 400X has a larger 19-inch front alloy wheel. Also available is&nbsp;dual-channel ABS as standard, but it&nbsp;can be&nbsp;turned off on the rear end.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As for the KTM Adventure X, the&nbsp;43mm upside-down WP Apex front forks and a 10-step adjustable WP rear mono-shock, along with a front and rear disc with dual-channel ABS have been carried over from the standard version.&nbsp;A 320mm single disc up front&nbsp;and a 230mm single rotor at the rear perform braking duties. This bike rides on a 19-inch front and a 17-inch rear alloy wheel shod with block pattern tyres.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On the feature front, the Scrambler 400 X packs&nbsp;all-LED lighting, ride-by-wire, switchable traction control, dual-channel ABS, an immobiliser, an assist clutch, a USB-C charging port, and a semi-digital instrument cluster, all as standard. Then, there is a digi-analogue screen that displays&nbsp;a fuel gauge meter, a digital tachometer, a gear position indicator, trip information, etc.&nbsp;Apart from these, the bike also comes with over 25 accessories, covering everything from comfort and style to luggage and security.</p>

<p>Conversely,&nbsp;the&nbsp;Adventure 390 X gets LED lighting, dual-channel ABS&nbsp;with off-road mode, a slipper clutch, and a 12V USB port, similar to the 390 Adventure. However, it misses out on a quickshifter, Bluetooth connectivity, cornering ABS, ride-by-wire, and traction control. On offer is an LCD dash instead of&nbsp;a colour TFT display.&nbsp;</p>

<p dir="ltr">The&nbsp;Triumph Scrambler 400 X borrows its design cues from the existing Scrambler 900.&nbsp;Combining modern touches with a classic retro look, the 400 X&nbsp;features a round LED headlamp, a curved gas tank with knee grips, LED turn indicators, as well as a&nbsp;side-slung exhaust pipe with a unique heat shield design. Thanks to its scrambler styling,&nbsp;the exterior exhibits a split seat, a headlight grille, handlebar guards, and updated riding ergonomics.
