Following the debut of the new ID. GTI concept vehicle at the 2023 IAA Mobility show in Munich, Volkswagen has recently showcased the all-electric sports limousine in the upper mid-sized class at the ID. Treffen Show in Locarno, Switzerland – a gathering of ID. enthusiasts, supported by Volkswagen. Called the ID.X Performance, the concept car is based on the ID.7 electric hatch, which is slated to be launched in the US in 2024. In terms of design, the ID.X Performance does not share much in common with its counterpart visually. Up front, the ID.X gets a massive black grille on the lower bumper and matching vents. On the sides, a set of 20-inch sports alloy wheels are covered in chunky black plastic. At the rear, the Volkswagen ID.X Performance has a sizeable spoiler, which sits atop the trunk lid and features tinted tail light clusters. The same red piping that runs down the front and sides also extends to the rear.

The concept gets a host of sporty features, which includes the front splitter and rear diffuser, both of which are made of carbon. There are also familiar red styling accents reminiscent of the GTI. In terms of dimensions, the ID.X Performance sits 60mm lower than the ID.7 sedan.

<h2>Volkswagen ID.X Performance Concept EV: Interior</h2>

Inside, occupants sit on carbon bucket seats, which are said to provide optimum support. Red accents continue inside the cabin as well, highlighting the car's sporty character.

<h2>Volkswagen ID.X Performance Concept EV: Powertrain</h2>

The ID.X Performance shares its underpinning with the majority of contemporary Volkswagen electric vehicles, utilizing the MEB architecture, which is the world's first dedicated modular electric vehicle platform. Beneath the hood, this car boasts a high-capacity drive battery that delivers substantial continuous power output and supports DC fast charging with an impressive capacity of up to 200kW.

The ID.X Performance features a dual motor setup – a permanently excited synchronous motor on the rear axle and an additional asynchronous motor on the front axle, making it four-wheel drive. This setup cranks out the combined power output of 551bhp. With the all-wheel-drive tech, customers can tap into short-term power boosts with minimal drag losses. A Vehicle Dynamics Manager, which also manages the operation of the rear axle differential lock in the ID.X Performance, controls the drive torque. A separate display with a 7.0-inch screen diagonal in the centre console is used to achieve this.

In addition, the Volkswagen ID.X Performance concept car also receives performance enhancements in the form of a lowered sports suspension with stiffer springs, increased toe angle by 80mm, 20-inch alloy wheels with central locks, and size 265 racing tyres. The car also benefits from a few tweaks to its aerodynamics, and a carbon ring has been incorporated at the rear to ensure the necessary downforce.&nbsp;&nbsp;

It remains to be seen if this concept car will enter production. Regardless, Volkswagen is planning to launch the ID.7 GTX with better aerodynamics, aggressive accents, and probably more power soon.&nbsp;

Volkswagen’s imagination of a souped-up ID.3 electric hatchback has been showcased. The concept is called the ID.X,&nbsp;borrows mechanical components from the ID.4 GTX and possibly could be a base for the Volkswagen ID.3 R

Volkswagen Passenger Car’s CEO, Ralf Brandstätter has revealed the company’s new electric hot hatch on his personal LinkedIn page. Along with a set of pictures highlighting the details of the new electric hot hatch, the CEO has confirmed a few details and technical specifications as well.

The ID.X is based on the company’s MEB platform that underpins most of VW’s electric cars. The drivetrain components <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/car-news/volkswagen-id4-gtx-launched-internationally-109385/">have been borrowed from the recently showcased ID.4 GTX</a>, which means the ID.X gets an all-wheel-drive layout. The battery pack is a larger 82kWh unit that powers the dual-motor set up to give a combined power output of 328bhp – that is 127bhp higher than the standard ID.3 that puts out 201bhp! In spite of component and platform sharing with the ID.4 GTX, the ID.X is 200kg lighter. Ralf Brandstätter also confirms the ID.X is equipped with a Drift mode making it a hot-fun-hatchback. Increased power and reduced weight is a recipe for impressive 0-100km/hr timing. The ID.X sprints to 100km/hr from a standstill in a respectable 5.2seconds.

Moving on to the styling, the ID.X showcases a body silhouette similar to the ID.3. The concept electric hatch wears a matte finished grey colour and to add some jazz there are a few neon touches on the exterior. The roofline is highlighted in neon green that runs from the base of the A-pilllar up to the C-pilllar – with added neon graphics. Similar treatment is seen on the skirts and the diffuser. The cabin also gets neon inserts on the dashboard, steering wheel, seats as well as carpets. The Alcantara seats are sporty with an ID.X badge stitched in a complementary colour scheme and the armrest a thoughtful addition.

VW boss also adds that the ID.X will strictly stay in the concept stage&nbsp;and other production models will take styling inspiration and could borrow mechanical bits and pieces from the new concept electric hot hatch – mainly the souped-up ID.3 that could have an ‘R’ at the end of its name.
