Bharat Mobility Expo: A potent 149cc single-cylinder engine powers the new Yamaha FZ-X. Together with a smooth five-speed transmission, this setup is good enough to generate 13.3Nm of peak torque and 12.23bhp of maximum power.

The Yamaha FZ-X has received a model year update for 2023 and in the process, Yamaha also added a new paint scheme and traction control to the motorcycle. The engine is now E20 fuel ready and the FZ-X now gets a OBD II diagnostic port as well to comply with regulatory norms.

The Yamaha FZ-X is an old motorcycle with new clothes. But is that necessarily a bad thing? The Yamaha FZ-X has been updated for 2023. While that statement might just stand up in a court of law by the skin of its teeth, I wouldn’t argue that it is necessarily a bad thing.

Yamaha Motor has launched the updated versions of its 150cc motorcycles in India. The 2023 MT-15 V2, the R 15 V4, the FZ-S FI V4, and the FZ-X are all OBD-2 compliant. Besides, they get Traction Control System (TCS) as standard.

The brand-new Yamaha FZ-X was launched in June 2022. The neo-retro bike is about to get its first update. According to recent spy shots, the 2023 FZ-X will be equipped with dual-channel ABS. A dirt bike-style front fender and a windscreen will also be added to the FZ-X.

To us, it seemed that Yamaha was in too much of a rush to launch the FZ-X here in India. Other than its very peculiar and, dare we say, unattractive design, the FZ-X is essentially an FZ-S in some funky new clothes.

The new Yamaha FZ-X seems to suffer from an identity crisis. We try to help Yamaha identify it by taking this cross-breed bike for a spin. Everything about the FZ-X screams the FZ-S, except for a few cosmetic changes that are unique to the former.

Yamaha launched the Yamaha FZ-X and marketed it as an adventure motorcycle. While its true you can go on adventures on any motorcycle, the FZ-X is essentially a redesigned FZ. IT gets the same engine and chassis and suspension, but it does get higher handlebars and a nice big seat for comfort.
