Yamaha has unveiled the Tricera concept which will be presented this November at the Japan Mobility Show, formerly known as the Tokyo Motor Show. The Tricera concept is a 'three-wheel open-top electric autocycle' with two wheels at the&nbsp;front and a single wheel at the back. This open-top concept car&nbsp;in the personal mobility vehicle segment is claimed to not only give an unparalleled feeling of freedom but also bring 'unfiltered joy' to the world of urban transportation. One look at the electric three-wheeler, the Yamaha Tricera with an open-top configuration shares similarities with the likes of the Morgan Super 3 and the&nbsp;Polaris Slingshot. The Japanese manufacturer has given the Tricera the&nbsp;'highly responsive' powertrain and chassis. However, the biggest talking point here is its three-wheel steering designed for enhanced agility and stability. The Tricera is even equipped with a new rear-wheel steering system that is believed to enhance the car's turn-in response. On offer is also an option for manual control on the rear wheel.&nbsp;

According to Yamaha, the manual rear-wheel steering mode provides "the sense of accomplishment that comes when acquiring and developing new driving skills".&nbsp;It also says that the rear steering can be entirely turned off for a more organic driving experience. Other details, including what kind of engine powers the concept car, are under wraps. Although it&nbsp;has no plans to come out with a production car based on the Tricera concept, Yamaha has a history of producing vehicles with more than 2 wheels, including&nbsp;the OX99-11 (1992).

<h2>Japan Mobility Show 2023: What Else to Expect?</h2>

However, the 2023 Japan Mobility Show will be more than just about the Tricera concept as Yamaha will also bring other types of machines, which include a Leaning Multi-Wheeler (LMW) trail bike with a hybrid powertrain. The front end gets electric hub motors, while the rear wheel gets its power from the combustion engine. The bike&nbsp;can fit a sizeable rack up front and seems to offer enough suspension travel.&nbsp;For those interested in machines with more than two wheels, Yamaha will showcase the hydrogen-combustion&nbsp;YXZ1000R, which is a recreational off-highway vehicle (ROHV).&nbsp;The 1.0-liter, three-cylinder engine, according to Yamaha, generates zero carbon dioxide while retaining 'attractive'&nbsp;combustion engine characteristics like&nbsp;sound and vibration. Other concepts to be showcased include the Yamaha Motoroid2, a naked sports bike with an electric powertrain.&nbsp;

Aside from Yamaha, several other homegrown manufacturers have expressed their intentions to present new concepts at the Japan Mobility Show. Some of them include <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/car-news/maruti-suzuki-evx-electric-suv-concept-interior-revealed-ahead-of-tokyo-mobility-show-114840/">Maruti Suzuki with the eVX</a> concept SUV and Honda&nbsp;Motorcycle and Scooter India with the SC e and&nbsp;Specialty Sports concepts. The latter&nbsp;is a born EV sports car&nbsp;that is claimed to offer&nbsp;the 'pure joy' of driving while allowing the driver to&nbsp;transcend the constraints of time. Meanwhile, the former (SC e Concept) gets battery-swapping technology, eliminating the waiting time for battery charging. It is powered by two&nbsp;Honda Mobile Power Pack e units.&nbsp;

The&nbsp;Japan Mobility Show 2023 is scheduled to take place from October 25 to November 5 (Press days: October 25 to 26, Public days: October 28 to November 5, 2023).
