Toyota Glanza Highlights
The Toyota Glanza is, essentially, a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. It is the first product born out of Toyota and Maruti Suzuki’s partnership in India. Therefore, it’s based on the facelifted Baleno that was launched in the early days of 2019.
Moreover, the Glanza is produced by Maruti Suzuki, at its manufacturing facility in Gujarat, alongside the Maruti Suzuki Baleno it’s based upon. As a result, the Toyota Glanza price goes neck-and-neck with its abovesaid sibling. There are, however, a few differences that give the Glanza an edge over the Baleno, one of which is its longer 3-year/1,00,000km standard warranty package. Read on for more.
As said above, the Glanza is largely based on the facelifted Baleno, which was launched in the first quarter of 2019. The only giveaway for the Toyota Glanza new model is the three-slat chrome grille at the front, while the rest of the bumper remains the same.
The same can be said for the rest of the design, for the only visible differences with the Glanza is the Toyota badging replacing the Suzuki moniker. The Glanza, too, carries forward the same exterior highlights such as LED projector headlamps with DRLs, 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, and LED taillamps.
The Toyota Glanza variants, namely, are G and V. While the former is based on the mid-spec Zeta trim of the Baleno, the latter is based on the top-spec Alpha variant. Therefore, the Glanza carries forward the same equipment like dual airbags, ABS with EBD, speed alert system, reverse parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and seat belt warnings for the front two as part of the standard safety kit.
Moreover, it gets a coloured MID, a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple Carplay/Android Auto, climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, steering-mounted audio controls, auto-folding ORVMs, reverse parking camera, automatic headlamps, and much more.
The interior, too, draws its inspiration from the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, with the only difference being the Toyota badging in place of the Suzuki logo. Therefore, it gets an all-black dashboard with silver accents for the air-con vents and climate control unit.
It also gets black and blue dual-tone treatment for the seats and the upholstery on the door pads. Just like the Baleno, the Glanza also offers the best-in-class space for both the front and rear passengers.
Engine Specifications & Performance
The Glanza is only a petrol-only model. It comes with two engine options, the first of which being Maruti Suzuki’s 1.2-litre K12 series engine, which is good for 82bhp and 113Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox.
Next in the line is the Dualjet petrol engine – also from Maruti Suzuki – which is the same 1.2-litre engine, tuned to churn out 89bhp and 113Nm of torque. It comes with SHVS mild-hybrid technology and only comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. It is only available in the lower-spec G variant. This is also where the Toyota Glanza on-road price is substantially lower than that of the Baleno, making it the most affordable hybrid in the country, at the time of launch.
