The range of Mahindra vehicles, as we know them today, was first introduced back in the year 2000.

The first-ever Mahindra car in India was the Bolero which was the first SUV produced by the company. The Bolero quickly found a strong customer base in rural and semi-urban areas and it has gone on to become the highest-selling UV produced by Mahindra, till date. To cater to a growing demand for SUVs, the company soon after launched the Scorpio in 2002 which helped establish Mahindra as one of the most prominent SUV makers in the country. Prior to the Bolero and Scorpio, Mahindra was selling Jeeps such as the MM540, MM775 and the Armada MUV. Adding to that instant success was also the aggressively-set Mahindra car prices.

Therefore, over the years, Mahindra has garnered the reputation for building rugged, off-road capability vehicles with strong levels of refinement and luxury. Back in the day, the company also ventured into the production of Mahindra electric vehicles through its subsidiary, Mahindra Electric with models such as the E-Verito and e2o Plus.
