Mercedes' Aesthetics A design language will debut with a new compact saloon car, marking the end of sharp creases and muscular lines of the current models.
In the past few years, the design of Mercedes-Benz cars has been a subject of hot debate among car enthusiasts. While some find the firm’s current design language modern and exuberant, others believe it’s a bit too loud and aggressive for the stately luxury car brand that Mercedes is. Now to settle this for once and all, Mercedes has previewed its all-new design philosophy, which is much simpler. Dubbed “Aesthetics A, the new design is set to feature on the next-gen compact cars such as the A-Class, B-Class, CLA and GLA.
Compared to the current Mercedes cars, the new design language features smoother lines, meaning “the days of creases are over” – says the firm. You can also see it in the teaser images. The specimen shown here is of a suave compact sedan with simple yet elegant design lines – the side profile is clearly a little less busy affair without many creases and muscular lines. There’s just a strong shoulder line that stretches from the headlamp and goes all the way back to tail.
As per Mercedes, the new design language will debut with a three-box design, which will also be seen in up to 8 models including the next gen models A-Class, B-Class, CLA, GLA and many more. The firm also says that the “expressive and confident red” shade will be a new signature Mercedes-Benz colour for the compact models of the future.
