Aprilia has unveiled an all-new supersport – the RS 457 – for the Indian market, which is a fully-faired motorcycle modelled after its middleweight elder sibling – the RS 660. The bike comes with clip-on handlebars, twin LED headlamps, a short visor, a small tail section, and an underbelly exhaust. It is equipped with Ride-by-Wire technology, three riding modes, three traction control levels, and an optional quick-shifter. The bike gets a full-LED front headlight, which looks sleek and modern and is well complemented by the 5-inch TFT colour instrument cluster. As the bike has been officially unveiled for our market, let's explore its design, engine, and other features.
Aprilia RS 457: Styling and Hardware
Inspired by the bigger RS 660, this fully-faired motorcycle gets split LED headlamps, a transparent visor, aerodynamic vents on the side fairing, and a muscular-looking fuel tank, along with a fully digital TFT console. For extra convenience, it also gets smartphone connectivity, which offers all the necessary information.
The new Aprilia motorcycle rides on a rear mono-shock with 130mm of travel and a front 41mm USD fork with 120mm of travel. Both can be adjusted for preload. For braking duties, a 220mm disc with a single-piston floating calliper is fitted at the back, while the front is equipped with a 320mm disc with a Bybre 4-piston radial calliper. The motorcycle features 17-inch wheels, shod with 110/70 front and 150/60 rear tyres.
Aprilia RS 457: Engine and Electronic Package
The RS 457 is propelled by a brand-new 457cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled motor, which is supported by a robust aluminium frame. The engine generates a maximum power output of 47bhp and is mated to a six-speed gearbox and an optional quick-shifter.
The new Aprilia RS 457 comes with a Ride-by-Wire technology, with three riding modes, which can alter the bike's traction and power delivery. Also, there are three traction control levels, which can also be completely disabled. A quick-shifter, which can be used to enhance the bike's performance, is also offered as an option.
