The Mini Countryman Black Edition sits above the Cooper S JCW Inspired variant and comes with a black theme to highlight its sporty intentions.
Mini has launched a special edition variant of the Countryman in India. Billed as the Countryman Black Edition, the new version comes with several black bits and is priced at Rs 42.40 lakh (ex-showroom) – roughly a lakh over the standard Countryman Cooper S JCW Inspired model. Only 24 units of the Black Edition are available in India.
The Black Edition gets a new black grille, piano black finished headlamps, JCW carbon fibre ORVMs, piano-black lettering and tail-lamps in a black finish. There are black bonnet stripes and black roof rails, as well as 18-inch JCW alloy wheels, which, for some reason, aren’t black.
Inside, you’ll find usual Mini bits and bobs, but the cabin receives an all-black treatment and comes with a JCW steering wheel and interior trim. There’s also JCW aero kit on offer, along with automatic tailgate access, memory function for seats, etc. Other features include a head-up display, electrically adjustable sports seats, a Harman Kardon sound system, a panoramic sunroof and more.
Mechanically, there are no changes. The Countryman Black Edition comes with the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine as the Cooper S JCW, and it churns out 189bhp and 280Nm of torque. Power transmission duties are carried out by an eight-speed automatic, while you also get paddle shifters for a sporty driving experience. Despite its girth, this car will do 0 – 100km/h in 7.5 seconds, which isn’t shabby for a family hauler.
The Countryman doesn’t have a direct rival in our market, but given its crossover styling, it competes with the likes of the Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Volvo XC40 in India.
