Even though there may be a difference in opinion about the design, one thing is for certain, it’s a brilliant car – anyone who drives the Q7 petrol will know what I’m talking about. The 2.0-litre petrol unit is an engineering marvel in itself – it’s incredibly smooth and refined. The engine is mated to an 8-speed transmission that transfers 248bhp and 370Nm to the ground seamlessly.
Despite the fact that the Q7 weighs over 2 tons, Audi has somehow managed to make the car fun and easy to drive – despite its substantial size. Surprisingly, in fact, it set a blistering lap time on the track. Perhaps the light weight 2.0-litre motor had something to do with the sharp front-end of the Q7. So, not only does it offers space, practicality and luxury, it’s also fun to drive.
The new petrol heart makes the Q7 more accessible – it’s now the entry to the range – but it continues to be exceedingly comfortable, refined and usable.
