New Maruti Suzuki Dzire to be Launched in India by Late 2024, to Get More Features than Swift

Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to introduce the next-generation Swift in India next month. The hatchback will come sporting several improvements in terms of design, features, technology, and mechanical configuration. In addition, the carmaker has begun testing the next-generation Dzire compact sedan, which is anticipated to go on sale in our market later this year. The 2024 model has been spotted cruising on Indian roads several times. However, these test mules were extensively camouflaged and the design elements were hidden. Nonetheless, based on the upcoming Swift hatchback, we can anticipate that the compact sedan will receive certain modifications. Let's take a look at what changes we might get to see for the Dzire. 

2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire: Expected Features

The compact sedan will have a considerably revamped cabin layout in its new guise. It will adorn a new dual-tone interior theme with black and beige tones. In comparison to the current generation Swift, we anticipate the new Dzire to have a range of fresh features and tech. A new nine-inch floating infotainment unit, taken from the Baleno hatchback, will be located in the centre of the dashboard.

Moreover, it could come with wireless smartphone connectivity and first-in-segment amenities including an electrically movable single-pane sunroof and a 360-degree surround view camera. Meanwhile, several rival models like the Aura and Amaze currently miss out on such features. The safety suite will likely comprise traction control, ABS with EBD, up to six airbags, and an Electronic Stability Program (ESP).

On the design front, the new Dzire is specifically tailored for the Indian market, falling into the sub-4-metre bracket to take advantage of small car tax benefits. According to several industry reports, the sedan will set itself apart from the India-spec Swift, having a somewhat different design from the hatchback. Expect a revised radiator grille on either side of more streamlined LED headlights that house integrated LED DRLs. To lend the upcoming version of the Dzire a unique look, it is also likely that the fog lamps will be upgraded to LEDs. The bumpers will be altered as well. Regarding the side profile, the sedan is probably going to have newly designed alloy wheels, while the rear would have refreshed LED taillights. Apart from these modifications, the sedan's overall silhouette is going to stay the same, and its proportions will likely correspond to those of the existing model.

2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire: Powertrain Options

Coming to the engine options, a new Z-series 1.2-litre three-cylinder (NA) petrol mill is anticipated for the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Dzire. This engine will also power the new Swift hatchback, replacing the present K-series powerplant. The new Dzire would have this engine paired with an AMT unit and a five-speed manual transmission. Notably, the sedan should have the same power and torque output figures as the Swift hatchback. To further increase the model's adaptability, a factory-fitted CNG kit is expected to be included later in the lineup.

The India launch of the Swift is around the corner, and the Dzire is anticipated to follow three to six months later, probably during the festive period. Lastly, the sedan will keep up its rivalry with models such as the Hyundai Aura and the Tata Tigor.

In other developments, the 2024 Swift hatchback made waves in its native market by earning a 4-star rating in the most recent JNCAP (Japan New Car Assessment Program) round. The model received an overall score of 177.80 out of 197 points (90%).
