    Within Toyota’s lineup, if the Innova was the car that got Indians used to the luxury of captain seats and the Fortuner redefined road presence, the new Toyota Ebella arrives carrying the weight of immense expectations. It isn’t just another SUV; it is Toyota’s first foray into the Indian EV space. Launching in 2026 – nearly 30 years after Toyota first experimented with the RAV4 EV globally – the Ebella isn’t just late to the party, but the party, in fact, is already in full swing, with the likes of the Tata Curvv EV and its own sibling, the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, already vying for attention.</p><p>The question, then, is: has Toyota used this time to perfect the recipe, or is the Ebella simply a rebadged exercise in brand loyalty? To find out, I took it on a 100km road test through the winding roads of Nandi Hills.</p>







<h2>Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella vs Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: What’s Different?</h2>

<p>Let’s address the elephant in the room. The Ebella is born from the Toyota-Suzuki partnership, and yes, the skeletal structure, features, and powertrain are shared with the e Vitara. However, up close, the Ebella feels different. It carries a certain aura that is distinctly Toyota. While the hard points are shared, the unique exterior treatment gives it a slightly more sophisticated, premium stance. The hammerhead-inspired front fascia, borrowed from its siblings, does a good job of evoking familiarity among Toyota fanboys.</p><p>

What stands out is that the Ebella inherits that same sense of rugged build quality that characterises the e Vitara. Toyota’s pitch, however, isn’t just about the metal; it’s about the ecosystem. With a service network they claim is EV-ready and the legendary peace of mind that comes with the badge, the Ebella aims to position itself as the safe bet in a segment still marked by range anxiety and reliability jitters.</p>







<h2>Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella Performance: Is 171bhp Enough?</h2>

<p>On paper, the Ebella’s specifications might make an enthusiast scoff. In a world where the Tata Curvv EV churns out upwards of 215Nm of torque, the Ebella’s 189Nm (from its 61kWh battery variant) sounds modest. But as they say, numbers are for brochures; the seat-of-the-pants feel is what truly matters when it comes to performance.</p><p>

It feels light on its feet, peppy, and refined. The 171bhp output is managed with a level of sophistication that makes the performance feel brisk rather than manic. It is an easy car to drive fast without ever feeling like you are wrestling with it, trying to put all that power to the ground.</p>







<h2>Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella Ride &amp; Handling</h2>

<p>One thing Toyota usually gets right is the ride quality for Indian roads, and the Ebella continues that legacy. In fact, in terms of planted feel, it faithfully follows in the footsteps of the Innova. During the test, even at triple-digit speeds on the highway to Nandi Hills, the Ebella remained remarkably composed. With a ground clearance of 189mm, it effortlessly handled Bangalore’s notorious speed breakers without a hint of bottoming out, and it handles broken tarmac in a similar, non-fussed fashion.</p><p>

<h2>Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella Interior, Features &amp; Comfort</h2>

<p>The interior is where the Ebella tries to impress the middle-level executive craving a touch of flair. The layout is modern, and the 10.25-inch infotainment system – shared with the Suzuki – is crisp and has an intuitive UI. However, in a curious ergonomic choice, the screen is angled slightly toward the co-passenger, which makes the driver’s viewing angle awkward.</p><p>

<p>Then there are the tacky bits. Despite the premium billing, hard plastics in high-touch areas serve as a persistent reminder of the car’s shared DNA. The 9-speaker JBL system, which looks fancy in the brochure, begins to crack when fed bass-heavy tracks at high volumes. And don’t get me started on the cameras – the footage from the 360-degree camera is grainy, and it struggles significantly in low-light conditions.</p><p>In terms of comfort, too, the Ebella remains a mixed bag. In a country where Toyota is synonymous with being chauffeur-driven, the Ebella’s rear seat is a bit of a letdown. The floor is high – a common EV trait – which means your knees sit higher than you’d like, and there’s a noticeable lack of under-thigh support. </p><p>

<h2>Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella Real-World Range and Efficiency</h2>

<p>Toyota claims an ARAI-certified range of 543km for the Ebella. In the real world, however, the narrative shifts. During our 101.2km test – which included tracking runs, camera-car tailgating, and the stop-and-go chaos of Indian traffic – the battery dropped from 99% to 69%. This 30% drop over 100km suggests a real-world range of roughly 330-340km when driven with a heavy right foot.</p><p>

<p>That said, if you adopt a more conservative driving style – what you could call sedate and subtle driving – you can realistically expect between 350km and 400km on a full charge. The good news? The range estimator is quite precise – it does not indulge in optimistic calculations to make you feel better. It provides an accurate, reliable readout, which is exactly what you want when the battery begins to deplete.</p>

<h2>Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella Review Verdict</h2>

<p>So, is the Toyota Ebella a sensible choice as a primary vehicle? For an urban-dwelling nuclear family looking for their first foray into sustainable mobility, the answer is yes. It offers a level of mechanical refinement and overall peace of mind that many of its segment rivals are still chasing.</p><p>

Ultimately, the Toyota badge on the steering wheel represents more than just branding; it translates into a sense of long-term reliability and greater peace of mind. It’s a car that takes some of the anxiety out of going electric. Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella First Drive Review - Sensible Spark

The Ebella may be late to the EV party, but armed with Toyota’s bulletproof reputation, it could be the electric SUV we’ve been waiting for.

    For years, the D-segment SUV market in India has essentially been a one-horse race. You know the name, you know its resale value, and you certainly know its bouncy ride quality. But MG is now attempting to shift the goalposts with the all-new Majestor. But in a world of mall-crawlers, just a pretty face and massive Matrix grille don’t get you up a mountain.</p>

<p>So, we went to the proving grounds to see if the all-new Majestor is just a luxury cruiser with an identity crisis or a genuine off-road weapon. Under the hood is a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine making 215bhp and a healthy 478Nm of torque. It’s a lot of muscle on paper, but can it hide its massive 5-metre footprint when the tarmac ends?</p>

<h2>MG Majestor Off-Road Test: High-Speed Braking and Suspension Check</h2>

<p>Before we hit the deep ruts, we started with a high-speed brake test on loose gravel. At 60km/h, slamming on the anchors is usually a recipe for a sideways slide, but the Majestor’s electronics kept it tracking straight and true. It is a seemingly mundane test until you actually need it on a monsoon-soaked highway.</p><p>

    </p><p>Then came the rutted stairs. This isn’t just about the 219mm ground clearance; it is a torture test for the damping. With a double-wishbone independent setup up front and a five-link rear, you could see the body working hard from the outside, but inside, the cabin remained impressively composed.</p>







<h2>MG Majestor Off-Road Capability: Water Wading, Diff Locks and Crawl Control</h2>

<p>Then things got wet. The Majestor is rated for 810mm of water wading – the highest in its segment. To further bolster its off-road credentials, MG has equipped the vehicle with three differential locks: front, rear, and centre.</p><p>

    </p><p>With 4-low and the front and rear diff-locks engaged, we dropped into the pit. The twin-turbo motor kept purring along, and off-road tech did its bit to ensure we didn’t get bogged down.</p>

<p>Before tackling the next major obstacle, the Majestor faced a tight slalom course to showcase its handling prowess. It was impressive for an SUV that weighs over 2.5 tonnes and stretches 5m in length.</p><p>But the real magic happened at the 35-degree incline. MG has introduced what they call ‘M-Crawl’ or Crawl Control Operation (CCO). We literally took our feet off the pedals and let the machine manage the throttle and braking for every individual wheel. It was an eerie sensation, but the system worked flawlessly. While coming down a 42-degree descent into a ditch, the Hill Descent Control kept progress measured and manageable without locking a single wheel.</p>







<h2>MG Majestor Suspension and Off-Road Performance Test</h2>

<p>The standout moment, however, came while tackling the ‘Devil’s Hump.’ This obstacle tests suspension damping, body control, and low-end throttle response all at once. In this specific regard, the Majestor managed to impress even more than the Fortuner. It controls its body movements with a level of sophistication we aren’t used to in this segment, softening hard landings and using that low-end grunt for seamless, controlled movements.</p><p>

    </p><p>With triple-differential locks and 10 off-road modes (including a dedicated Mud mode), the capability of a vehicle this size is impressive. And our final test was a boggy mud section. We switched off the front and centre diff-locks for maximum manoeuvrability and maximum steering angle, while engaging the dedicated Mud mode. This was enough to help the MG Majestor practically sail through.</p>





<h2>MG Majestor First Look Verdict: A Real Toyota Fortuner Rival?</h2>

<p>So, is the Fortuner’s crown in danger? I think that the Majestor is a sophisticated tool – smart, comfortable, and capable. However, we weren’t the ones driving today; we were experiencing it from the passenger seat.</p><p>

MG Majestor First Look - Tough Enough?

The Fortuner has dominated its segment for years, but MG’s new Majestor arrives with serious muscle and off-road tech. Is the crown finally under threat?

    Two lakh rupees. In the Indian motorcycling landscape, that figure is no longer just a number to aspire towards – it’s the sweet spot. It’s the point where you stop thinking about just commuting and start thinking about freedom and excitement. But in 2026, freedom can be a polarising concept. Does it take the form of the rugged, easy-going nostalgia of the Royal Enfield Scram 440, or the tall, sharp, and tech-laden aggression of the TVS Apache RTX?</p><p>If you are looking for a motorcycle that can handle the office commute on Monday and a dusty trail on Sunday, both of these machines have probably found their way to your shortlist. I spent time with both to see which one truly earns that elusive ‘one bike that can do it all’ spot in your garage.</p>







<h2>TVS Apache RTX vs Royal Enfield Scram 440 - Design Comparison</h2>

<p>Let’s talk aesthetics first. The Scram 440 seems like something that’s stepped straight off a Mad Max set – chunky, rugged, and carrying that effortlessly cool uncle vibe. It doesn’t try too hard to be a modern ADV; instead, it embraces its scrambler roots with the kind of honest toughness that feels almost indestructible.</p><p>

    </p><p>The Apache RTX, on the other hand, means business in a completely different way. It looks every bit the thoroughbred ADV. With its tall windscreen, sharp LED lighting, and broad stance, it could easily pass for something ready for the Dakar. There's also no getting away from the fact that its designers did take inspiration from big, premium European ADVs, but I think they have done a good job with the final execution. While the Scram feels like a protagonist’s DIY ride in a zombie apocalypse film, the RTX feels like a precision tool purpose-built by engineers.</p>







<h2>TVS Apache RTX vs Royal Enfield Scram 440: Ergonomics and Comfort</h2>

<p>The way you interact with these two motorcycles is fundamentally different. On the Scram 440, you sit in the motorcycle. With a very approachable seat height of 795mm, almost anyone can flat foot it, which immediately inspires confidence. The handlebars are tall, the position is relaxed, and it feels incredibly natural for darting through city traffic.</p><p>

    </p><p>However, once you stand up to tackle a trail, you notice the side panels are a bit too wide, making it difficult to grip the tank securely. Our media unit even had visible scuff marks on its side panels – likely from boots constantly brushing against them while trying to grip it tightly.</p><p>The Apache RTX, by contrast, puts you on the motorcycle. With a taller 855mm seat height, it can be intimidating for shorter riders. But once you start moving, the ergonomics feel far more focused. The inseam is narrower than the Scram’s, and for someone like me – who prefers standing and muscling a bike through dirt – the RTX offers much better leverage and control.</p><p>

<p>A quick note on weight: the Scram is the heavier machine at 196kg, compared to the RTX’s 180kg. Yet the Scram carries its weight low, which makes it feel planted and stable. The RTX, meanwhile, feels a touch top-heavy, turning slow-speed U-turns into a bit of a leg workout. However, that lighter kerb weight and top-heavy weight distribution give you more confidence to take the RTX off-road, compared to the Scram, which can seem slightly lethargic and heavy-footed when it comes to getting over obstacles and hurdles.</p>

<h2>TVS Apache RTX vs Royal Enfield Scram 440 - Features and Technology</h2>

<p>This is where the Scram 440 feels properly outgunned. Royal Enfield has kept things simple and honest.</p><p>

It’s focused and functional, but it won’t exactly set your tech pulse racing.</p><p>TVS, however, has taken the opposite approach – throwing in everything, including the proverbial kitchen sink. </p><p>

    </p><p>The RTX comes loaded with a 5-inch colour TFT screen, four ride modes, cruise control, a quickshifter, and traction control – all for around Rs 2.5 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s essentially a smartphone on two wheels with a rugged outer casing.</p>







<p>That said, here’s the journalist in me playing devil’s advocate: do you really need four ride modes on a 35bhp motorcycle? Out in the middle of nowhere, more technology often means more things that might go wrong. In that sense, the Scram’s simplicity feels like its strength – you can fix it with a bit of jugaad and a wrench. The RTX offers you that ‘wow’ factor, but the Scram delivers a tad better peace of mind for nomadic travels.</p>

<h2>TVS Apache RTX vs Royal Enfield Scram 440 - Engine and Performance</h2>

<p>The engines of these two bikes are as different as chalk and cheese. The Scram 440 feels like the tractor of the scrambler world – and I mean that as the highest compliment.</p><p>

    </p><p>Its 440cc air- and oil-cooled engine delivers a healthy 34Nm of torque, which pulls like a freight train from any gear. You could leave it in third all day in the city, and it won’t complain. It’s all about riding the wave of torque rather than chasing the redline.</p><p>The Apache RTX, by contrast, features a brand-new 300cc liquid-cooled engine producing 35.5bhp. It’s peppy and engaging, but it demands a bit of work.</p><p>

    </p><p> Below 6,000rpm, it feels almost sleepy; cross that threshold, however, and it wakes up with decisive intent. It’s the faster motorcycle of the two, but it rewards the aggressive rider who can work harder at keeping it in the right powerband.</p>







<p>In terms of refinement, neither is perfect. The RTX suffers from a high-frequency buzz through the pegs and bars, which can numb your hands during long highway rides. The Scram has more pronounced vibrations, but they feel more like character rather than annoyance – although if you’re switching over to the RE from a Japanese bike, you’ll definitely notice them.</p>

<h2>TVS Apache RTX vs Royal Enfield Scram 440 - Ride and Off-Road Performance</h2>

<p>On the road, the Scram 440 rides like a stiff roadster. While it’s confident around corners, its suspension can feel a bit harsh over sharp bumps. Off-road, at low speeds, its low-end grunt helps it chug over almost any obstacle. But try jumping it, and you’ll hear that dreaded clack as the suspension bottoms out.</p><p>

    </p><p>The Apache RTX is my clear pick for rough terrain. With adjustable USD forks and a lighter weight, it’s significantly more capable of going fast off-road. It slices through urban traffic with agility and feels like the more sophisticated package when the tarmac runs out. While the Scram survives the trail, the RTX attacks it decisively.</p>

    Back in 2023, the Hero-Harley collaboration gave us the X440 – a gritty, single-cylinder roadster that made a strong first impression. It was comfortable, grunty, and, most importantly, proved that the partnership had real substance. That said, it was not without flaws.</p>

<p>Fast forward to today, and we have the Harley-Davidson X440 T. With a price tag of Rs 2.79 lakh (ex-showroom), it sits exactly where the old ‘S’ variant used to. So, is it simply a different letter on the tank, or is the X440 T genuinely a better motorcycle?</p>

<h2>X440 T Design &amp; Styling</h2>

<p>I’ll be honest – the original X440 had an awkward rear design. It looked imposing in the rearview mirror, but once it passed you, the tail section felt tacky and underwhelming. The X440 T addresses this decisively. Drawing inspiration from the iconic XR1200, Harley has completely redesigned the tail section, giving the X440 T a much more cohesive and premium presence.</p><p>

<p>Up front, the changes are subtle but impactful. You get bar-end mirrors as standard, along with new tank graphics. While Harley claims that the tank dimensions have changed, the difference is largely visual, stemming from the new graphics replacing the old embossed logo. The exhaust also gets a new heat shield and end can, eliminating the slightly ‘afterthought’ appearance of the previous version.</p><p>The X440 T gets new shades like Pearl White and Pearl Red, which offer excellent contrast against the blacked-out components. It now looks like a complete, high-end motorcycle rather than a work-in-progress.</p>







<h2>X440 T Ride-by-Wire, Ride Modes &amp; Power Delivery</h2>

<p>The most significant mechanical update is the introduction of a ride-by-wire throttle. And, it actually makes a substantial difference in terms of refinement. The older X440 felt jerky and gruff during low-speed riding, often catching the rider off guard. The new system considerably smoothens these transitions, making the motorcycle easier to manage.</p><p>

<p>The X440 T offers two ride modes – Road (100% power) and Rain (90% power with gentler delivery). Interestingly, Harley has also added switchable rear ABS and traction control. On the other hand, the 440cc single-cylinder engine’s specs haven’t changed, but the way it delivers power has. The mid-range is still the star of the show – between 2,750 and 5,000rpm, the bike feels genuinely lively. It’s punchy and refined, but there is a catch. The low-end grunt is still lacking, and the top-end feels flat. Because the usable power band is decently wide but concentrated in the mid-range, you’ll find yourself working the 6-speed gearbox often to stay in the sweet spot.</p><p>The ride quality, meanwhile, is a tale of two halves. The rear suspension has been excellently retuned, allowing it to remain pliant and comfortable over most surfaces. The front USD forks, however, have been stiffened up for sportier dynamics. On smooth tarmac, they are great. But hit a sharp pothole or a rutted section, and the front end thuds loudly as it bottoms out. While it doesn’t unsettle the bike, it makes it clear that the front-end has little chill when the roads turn ugly.</p>





<h2>X440 T Review Verdict: Is This the Best Version of Harley’s 440 Platform Yet?</h2>

<p>The Harley-Davidson X440 T is undeniably the best execution of this platform. For Rs 2.79 lakh, you get a more premium design, smoother throttle response, and a better electronics package. It bridges the gap between a laid-back cruiser and an engaging roadster with much more success than its predecessor.</p><p>

The off-road motorcycle scene in India is gaining serious momentum. For KTM enthusiasts, the 390 Adventure has been the default choice. Yet, for those craving serious dirt capabilities, extensive aftermarket modifications became the norm. Was KTM paying attention? It appears so. Enter the 390 Enduro R – a machine that promises better off-road performance while retaining the trusted 390 platform. So, is this the factory-built solution riders have been waiting for? We took it to the trails at Pro Dirt Adventure Park to find out.</p>

<h2>KTM 390 Enduro R Design &amp; Styling: Serious Off-Road Intent</h2>

<p>First impressions matter, and the Enduro R certainly makes a strong one. While it shares its underpinnings with the 390 Adventure, its stance is noticeably more aggressive and purpose-built. The vibrant KTM orange colour screams performance, and the bike looks broader and tougher  – visually more rugged than the 390 Adventure.</p><div style="width: 100%; height: auto;" class="post-image">

The 43mm WP Apex front forks and a matching monoshock at the rear signal serious off-road intent. Smart touches like pigmented body panels (designed to resist scratches), along with standard handguards, crash protection, and an engine bash plate, underscore its ready-for-anything character.</p><p>Beneath the skin, KTM India has made some interesting calls. The Enduro R retains the same suspension components as the 390 Adventure, offering 200mm of travel at the front and 205mm at the rear – shorter than the international model’s 230mm, which significantly lowers the seat height, making it more practical for our market.</p><div style="width: 100%; height: auto;" class="post-image">

This setup, along with revised suspension tuning, has raised the ground clearance to an impressive 253mm (up from the Adventure’s 237mm). <h2>KTM 390 Enduro R Ergonomics &amp; Features</h2>

<p>The new Enduro R strikes a thoughtful balance between functional tech and minimalist design. It features all the essential off-road hardware, which includes dual-channel ABS with an off-road mode, traction control, and selectable Street and Off-road ride modes – notably, there’s no Rain mode as found on the 390 Adventure.</p><div style="width: 100%; height: auto;" class="post-image">

At 860mm, the seat height is 30mm taller than the 390 Adventure’s, which may pose a challenge for shorter riders, especially in tricky situations. It’s worth noting that the international version sits even higher at 890mm, adding an even bigger hurdle for less-experienced riders to climb (pun intended).</p><div style="width: 100%; height: auto;" class="post-image">

The long, firm seat offers excellent support and ample fore-aft movement – crucial for managing traction off-road. The centrally-mounted footpegs and wide handlebars form a confident and comfortable rider triangle, ideal for both seated cruising and aggressive stand-up riding. <h2>KTM 390 Enduro R Engine Performance &amp; Off-Road Capability</h2>

<p>At its core, the 390 Enduro R retains the familiar 399cc LC4c engine, producing the same 46bhp and 39Nm of torque as the 390 Adventure. However, revised engine mapping and a shorter final drive ratio (14/48 vs 14/46) result in a noticeable difference.</p><p>

This is an engine that demands rider engagement, rewarding active, energetic inputs. The six-speed gearbox is well-spaced and shifts cleanly, with first and second gears proving particularly useful for both city commuting and trail riding. Despite a smaller 285mm front disc (down from 320mm on the Adventure), braking performance is strong.</p><p>Where the 390 Enduro R truly earns its stripes is off the beaten path. The revised suspension tuning makes an immediate impression. It’s far more compliant than that of the 390 Adventure – it soaks up bumps, ruts, and undulations with a newfound composure. That familiar issue of front-end bottoming on sharp hits and heavy landings has been largely resolved.</p><p>

<p>Overall, the 390 Enduro R stands out as the most capable off-road machine in KTM India’s 390 lineup. With its reduced weight, revised gearing, properly tuned and adjustable suspension, and the all-important 21/18 spoked wheel setup, it’s a machine that truly shines once the road ends. It thoughtfully addresses many of the standard Adventure’s shortcomings for serious off-road use. That said, in its stock trim, it’s neither a hardcore enduro weapon nor a proper tourer. The smaller fuel tank, high-strung engine character (for some), and tall seat height clearly define its niche. This is a bike best suited for enthusiasts who blend spirited road riding with challenging weekend trail adventures, or, perhaps, for dirt riders looking for a versatile road-legal second bike.</p><div style="width: 100%; height: auto;" class="post-image">

KTM fans have long desired a more serious off-road machine based on the 390 platform. The Enduro R promises to deliver just that. But does it live up to the hype?

    Hero MotoCorp seems to be on a roll, turning its concepts from EICMA 2024 into reality. Hot on the heels of the Xoom 160 comes the Xtreme 250R. It is touted as the quickest machine in its class. With its bold, aggressive styling, it certainly grabs attention, but does its performance back it up?</p>

<h2>Hero Xtreme 250R Design &amp; Styling: Italian Flair?</h2>

<p>Let’s talk design first – well, because, frankly, it’s impossible to ignore. While the styling is a bit polarising, personally, I’m quite taken by its sharp, aggressive lines. During our ride in Udaipur, it drew plenty of attention – some admiring, others possibly bewildered. There’s a clear hint of Italian streetfighter flair here, particularly in the pointed front end housing the LED projector headlamp, the muscular tank shrouds flanking the sculpted fuel tank, and the stubby, minimalist tail section. Viewed head-on, it has a bit of a Ducati-esque appearance.</p><p>

<p>For its segment, the Xtreme 250R is reasonably equipped. A standout feature is the Class-D LED projector headlamp, which has proven quite effective in previous models like the Xpulse 200 4V. LED indicators are standard, and the emergency stop signal – which activates the hazard light during hard braking – is a thoughtful safety addition. The bike also features switchable dual-channel ABS with two selectable modes – Road and Race – offering added flexibility.</p><p>

<p>Ergonomically, the Xtreme 250R is quite accessible. Its wide handlebar and 806mm seat height provide a comfortable, upright riding posture, which is good for city riding and should be manageable for most riders. The seat is well-contoured, offering decent comfort. The bike is also good in terms of practicality – its 167mm of ground clearance is quite sufficient for uneven or broken roads.</p><p>

While it’s great for daily commuting, it slightly detracts from the aggressive riding experience. On the upside, the wide handlebars offer excellent leverage, making quick steering inputs fairly easy.</p>



<h2>Hero Xtreme 250R Performance &amp; Handling: Go vs Show?</h2>

<p>Now, let’s talk about the heart of the matter: performance and handling. The Xtreme 250R is powered by a relatively new 250cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, which is essentially a stroked version of the 210cc unit from the Karizma. Hero claims outputs of 29.5bhp at 9,250rpm and 25Nm of torque at 7,250rpm. With a 12:1 compression ratio and that peak power figure, it’s clear that it is a top-end focused motor – and that’s exactly how it feels on the road.</p><p>

<p>That’s not to say that it’s completely gutless lower down. There’s a healthy, usable mid-range, which makes city commuting and overtaking quite easy. But to truly tap into its performance, you really need to wring its neck and keep the revs high. It thrives when pushed, which makes it quite engaging around twisty roads.</p><p>However, this high-revving nature comes at a cost. Vibrations creep in as the revs climb, particularly through the handlebars and footpegs. During the test, while riding spiritedly, I often found myself short-shifting out of mechanical sympathy, hesitant to constantly wring it out. If you prefer an engine you can thrash, this might not be it. </p>

<p>Hero claims that the Xtreme 250R is the fastest in its class (0 – 60 km/h and 0 – 100 km/h). While it’s yet to be verified with proper testing equipment, my seat-of-the-pants impressions suggest that it’s a brisk and eager performer, especially once you’re past the mid-range.</p><p>

<p>The Hero Xtreme 250R is a strong contender in the 250cc segment. With its sharp styling, agile handling, and decent feature list, it offers a well-rounded package for riders seeking a sporty yet practical machine. The engine offers solid performance, especially in the top end, though it’s not the smoothest engine out there. Still, it is an agile, sporty streetfighter, which is also comfortable enough for daily use.</p>

<p>While the LCD screen feels a bit dated compared to what some of its rivals offer, the overall package, especially the bike’s dynamic ability, is quite compelling. So, if you prefer sharp aesthetics, agile handling, and an engine that rewards spirited riding, the Xtreme 250R is well worth considering.</p><p>

Hero Xtreme 250R First Ride Review - Xtreme 'Nuff?

Hero’s sharply styled Xtreme 250R promises class-leading performance and standout streetfighter attitude, but does it truly deliver where it matters most?

    The team at autoX is no stranger to the X1 – be it in its petrol, diesel, or electric guise. Regular readers will recall we extensively tested the standard iX1 in our four-way comparison against the Kia EV6 GT, Volvo XC40 Recharge, and Hyundai Ioniq 5. So, it’s fair to say that we have a solid benchmark to measure its performance against most of its rivals.</p>
<p>However, BMW may have just checkmated the competition of that list with the new iX1 LWB. It gets more space and as an added bonus, it’s assembled right here in India. That not only makes it a lot more affordable than its ICE and electric counterparts but also its aforementioned rivals.</p>


<h2>BMW&nbsp;iX1 LWB Design &amp; Dimensions:&nbsp;Same Platform, Bigger Package</h2>

<p>Let’s start with design and styling – an inherently subjective part of any review. If you liked the aesthetics of the standard (and now discontinued) iX1, you are going to love the new iX1 LWB. If not, well….I’m sorry but this one looks pretty much the same.</p>

<p>While the overall silhouette remains largely unchanged, the iX1 LWB has grown in length to 2,800mm – an increase of 116mm overall, with the wheelbase alone accounting for 108mm. While all that extra length has been added behind the B-pillar, its proportions still look balanced. Like a GQ model, it doesn’t suffer from an awkward long-legs-short-torso look – in fact it looks rather handsome.</p>

<p>Most of the design elements from the standard model have been carried over. However, one practical upgrade is the rear doors, which now open at a wider angle, making ingress and egress much easier for rear passengers. In terms of overall size, the iX1 LWB has now become closer to the previous-generation X3 – precisely the positioning that BMW was aiming for.</p>

<p>As a result, what you now get is the widest and tallest cabin in the segment, offering ample legroom to lounge and relax. Even with two passengers over six feet, neither will have any reason to complain. That said, the under-thigh support is a bit of an issue due to the tall footboard – an unfortunate byproduct of the ICE-to-EV conversion process. To further enhance the rear-seat comfort, BMW has increased the legroom by 109mm and even extended the seat cushion length by 15mm. While features remain similar and aplenty, I do wish BMW had gone a step further by adding separate AC blower controls and sunblinds – it would have been a perfect finishing touch for an otherwise well-appointed cabin.</p>



<h2>iX1 LWB Driving Experience: Single-Motor Performance</h2>

<p>Now, while the iX1 LWB gains extra space, it sacrifices a bit of performance. To make the price tag more appealing, BMW has opted for a single-motor setup instead of the twin-motor configuration of the standard iX1.</p>

<p>Essentially, the iX1 LWB now gets a front-wheel drivetrain with a 66.4kWh battery pack, producing 204bhp and 250Nm of peak torque. When you step on the throttle pedal, there’s a noticeable shove but not as instantaneous and explosive as offered by the twin-motor setup of the standard iX1. However, thanks to the FWD configuration, it feels lighter and more nimble – it behaves more like a lukewarm hatchback than an all-out luxury electric SUV.</p>

<p>There is less understeer, and the dynamics feel sharper than the twin-motor version’s. In relentless Indian traffic, it’s light, agile, and easy to throw around, making it surprisingly fun to drive in everyday conditions.</p>

<h2>Why the BMW iX1 LWB Makes Sense for Families</h2>

<p>If Dominic Toretto were more practical, lived in India, and needed an everyday runabout for the family, I’d ask him not to overlook the iX1 LWB. It offers significantly more space, making it a better and more well-rounded family SUV. And since it’s now assembled in India, it has a price tag of ₹49 lakh (ex-showroom). A luxury family SUV with a BMW badge on the bonnet that costs less than most rivals? That‘s a dream come true for many. And the best part? Despite its practicality, the iX1 LWB doesn’t compromise on BMW’s signature driving excitement.</p>

It’s a machine built with a singular, terrifying purpose: to decimate a racetrack. So, when Ducati India and Apex Racing Academy invite you to an open track session at the Buddh International Circuit, you don’t just say yes—you count your lucky stars, panic, have a mid-life crisis, say a quick prayer, and then, say HELL yes!</p><p>

The S-model features the Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 electronic suspension, which actively stiffens the front USD forks under braking and firms up the rear shock on acceleration. The Brembo race-spec calipers are simply on another level. They are absolutely fantastic, with control and feedback like you’ve never experienced before. On the back straight, crossing 300km/h on every lap, I could wait until after the 150-metre board to brake EVERY TIME, and the bike just shed speed with precise control and zero drama.</p><p>

<h2>TVS Apache RTX Design, Features &amp; Ergonomics</h2>

<p>The Apache RTX’s strongest weapon is, without doubt, its design. Here, TVS has absolutely nailed the brief. The bike exudes European sophistication and substantial road presence. In a segment where looking the part is half the war won, the RTX arrives fully armed. The front end commands attention with its high-mounted fender and sharp, twin-pod Class D LED headlamps, echoing design cues from premium adventure bikes like the Triumph Tiger. Some may call it derivative, but the execution feels cohesive and confident – in simple terms, it works. It has a big-bike aura that belies its price tag, further amplified by the muscular 12.5-litre fuel tank with crisp, modern lines flowing neatly into a slim, rally-style tail section.</p><p>

On paper, the 835mm seat height sounds daunting, especially for the average Indian rider, but TVS has sculpted the tank junction and the thin inseam brilliantly. At 5’6”, I could get both toes down comfortably enough to inspire confidence, whether navigating traffic or tackling tricky, uneven terrain. The riding triangle feels spot-on – upright, relaxed, and commanding. The bars fall naturally to hand, and the peg position strikes a comfortable middle ground for long rides. TVS has packed it to the brim, arguably creating the most feature-rich motorcycle in its class. The 5-inch colour TFT cluster takes centre stage, with a crisp, intuitive layout that automatically switches between day and night modes.</p><p>

The map mirroring function is powered by Google Maps, and I was particularly impressed by its seamless pairing and lag-free interface. But that’s not the end of it. The RTX also gets cruise control, all-LED lighting, adjustable levers, a bi-directional quickshifter, and, crucially, switchable dual-channel ABS.</p>













<h2>TVS Apache RTX Engine Performance</h2>

<p>Powering the RTX is a new 299cc liquid-cooled DOHC single-cylinder engine, which produces a healthy 35.5bhp and 28.5Nm of torque. The engine is tractable, with a perfectly linear power delivery. In simpler terms, it’s predictable and, unfortunately, flat.</p><p>

    </p><p>This is where the RTX stumbles. The powertrain is, without a doubt, the bike's most significant compromise. For all its visual aggression and high-tech promises, it lacks the low-end grunt that’s critical for an adventure tourer – the kind that’s needed to pull it out of tough situations. The power surge hits post 4,000rpm, forcing you to work the six-speed gearbox incessantly to stay in the meat of the powerband.</p>







<p>Beyond the numbers, the engine simply lacks character. It’s functional but not fun – a mere tool to get the job done. It’s Clark Kent dressed as Superman without any abilities – all the right looks, none of the mettle. It doesn’t like to be pushed hard, but if you do it anyway, vibrations begin to creep in at higher RPM, moving from the pegs to the bars, gradually eroding the calm composure you expect on long rides and, inducing fatigue sooner than you’d like.</p><p>

<p>This fundamental character flaw is compounded by the 6-speed gearbox – despite featuring a bi-directional quickshifter, first and second gears feel a bit too short. This is impractical for both slow-speed off-roading and stop-and-go city traffic – you find yourself constantly shifting between first and third.</p>

<h2>TVS Apache RTX Ride &amp; Handling Review</h2>

<p>Where the engine disappoints, the chassis and suspension redeem some of the RTX's performance credentials. This is the bike’s saving grace, and arguably its strongest dynamic attribute, proving that TVS’s racing DNA and engineering finesse remain very much intact. Built around a sturdy steel trellis frame paired with a lightweight aluminium swingarm (a premium touch for this class), the RTX’s foundations are rock-solid. Suspension duties are handled by 41mm upside-down forks up front and a monoshock at the rear, each offering a generous 180mm of travel.</p><p>

<p>The best word to describe this setup? Balanced. TVS has nailed the tuning. It’s firm enough to encourage spirited riding on the road, letting you carve corners with precision and confidence, with no trace of the vague wallow that afflicts many adventure bikes. Yet, when the road disappears, it becomes surprisingly compliant, sailing over gravel and broken tarmac without unsettling the rider or transmitting harsh jolts through the spine. It’s the perfect compromise – stable and sure-footed off-road, yet agile and responsive on tarmac. Combine that with its manageable 180kgs kerb weight, and you get a bike that feels planted, flickable, and, crucially, not a burden to lift if you drop it on the trail.</p><p>

    </p><p>Unfortunately, the near-perfect dynamics were somewhat marred by teething issues on our pre-production test units. My particular bike suffered from inconsistent fuelling at low speeds and low RPM, resulting in a jerky, unpredictable throttle response. This made it difficult to fully test its capability in technical off-road situations where smooth throttle input is paramount. The gear indicator of my test unit also seemed confused, often displaying first gear even after multiple upshifts – a small but annoying glitch that detracts from the otherwise premium tech package. But rest assured, TVS has promised that these issues will be taken care of before the production version hits showrooms.</p>





<h2>TVS Apache RTX Review Verdict: Strengths, Weaknesses &amp; Rivals</h2>

<p>So, where does the TVS Apache RTX stand? It is, without doubt, a versatile motorcycle and a solid addition to the ADV segment. In many ways, it’s a frustratingly good package. TVS has nailed the hard parts – it looks superb, has a feature list that outclasses its rivals, and is equipped with a beautifully balanced suspension setup that makes it genuinely capable and comfortable across varied terrains. <p>Yet, for all its strengths, it’s ultimately held back by an average powertrain, and in this segment, average just doesn’t cut it. Winning this battle requires more than just good impressions. And that’s where the RTX struggles. Its rivals are valued because of their engines – the Himalayan for its torquey, tractable, and character-rich ‘Sherpa’ 450, and the Scrambler 400X for its refined, punchy, and surprisingly soulful 400cc single. Against these two, the RTX’s engine feels uninspiring, unrefined, and poorly geared, putting it at a significant disadvantage.</p><p>

<p>TVS has built an exceptional foundation – one that deserves more soul. If the company can address the pre-production issues and, in a future update, add some much-needed low-end grunt and fix the gearing (like it managed with the 310 series), it could have a genuine segment leader. For now, though, the Apache RTX remains a deeply impressive first attempt, but its climb to the top of the adventure-touring mountain is still a steep one.
