SsangYong XAV-Adventure concept hits Frankfurt

SsangYong has showcased its XAV-Adventure concept at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The concept was first showcased at the Seoul Motor Show earlier in 2015. This new SsangYong XAV-Adventure concept is slated to become the next generation avatar of the company’s Korando SUV.

With all manufacturers now set out towards developing SUVs to offer a lifestyle offering to customers across all price and automobile segments, SsangYong too is looking to cash in for a share of the action with its new XAV-Adventure concept.

Slotted as a lifestyle vehicle that will serve the purpose of a daily run about with its practical bits such as a spacious cabin and generous cargo area, the SsangYong XAV-Adventure, is also designed to cater to the outdoor and adventurous needs of its clientele during the weekends.  And that’s what it does with its chunky design elements and bold lines. The concept also has a carbon roof with a canvas section that can be folded away when desired. This gives the XAV-Adventure concept that open top motoring feeling, adding to the leisure side of things.

The SsangYong XAV-Adventure concept is a compact SUV measuring in at 4,190mm in length, 1,880 in width, 1,650mm in width and has a wheelbase of 2,600mm.

The SsangYong XAV-Adventure concept is showcased with a choice of either a 1.6 litre petrol engine or a 1.6 litre diesel engine. The powertrain features four-wheel drive as well as a hybrid electric drivetrain that seeks to boost fuel efficiency. The SsangYong XAV-Adventure’s E-4WD system consists of a lithium ion battery and two electric motors placed at the rear of the vehicle. These offer option of two driving modes, namely, hybrid fuel economy mode and hybrid performance mode.

This concept from SsangYong also packs in the brand’s 3S-CUBE system. Along with a motion control system, electric air suspension and cameras detects road conditions ahead and prepares the vehicle’s system for the same.
