With the scooter market rapidly growing each year and constituting 30 percent of the market share, no two-wheeler manufacturer can avoid them. Yamaha India is also not an exception as they added new Cygnus Ray-ZR to their scooter portfolio. Yamaha insists that this scooter is for young men, who want to ride a muscular looking scooter, which will complement their image.

The Ray-ZR is powered by an air-cooled 4-stroke. SOHC, 2-Valve, 113cc engine, which is mated with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Unfortunately, Yamaha has not revealed the power output of the Ray-ZR. For practical purposes, the Ray-ZR's under the seat storage space is 21 litres and as it weighs a mere 103 kilograms, this makes it user friendly also.

This new scooter will come in both drum and disc brake variants. The latter will also come with cast aluminum wheels.

Mr Roy Kurian, V-P Sales & Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt Ltd said, "The new Cygnus Ray-ZR is a very significant step for us to consolidate our position in the fast growing scooter market." Yamaha is confident that by targeting male riders, this will make their scooter lineup stronger and increase sales numbers. Yamaha plans to launch this new scooter in the next couple months.
