As I stepped into the bustling halls of the 2025 Smart Mobility India Expo, part of the 32nd Convergence India Expo, the air was thick with anticipation and the hum of innovation. The event at the expansive Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi was a testament to India’s unwavering commitment to a cleaner, greener, and self-reliant mobility future. While artificial intelligence was a recurring theme throughout the expo, the Smart Mobility segment carved its niche by spotlighting electric vehicles (EVs), alternative fuels, and transformative technologies to redefine urban transportation.

Electric mobility was undeniably the star attraction. Mahindra’s pavilion was abuzz with excitement as they showcased the all-new XEV 9e and the BE 6, both exuding a blend of futuristic design and cutting-edge technology. Not to be outdone, Hyundai drew significant crowds with the retro-futuristic Ioniq 5 and the recently launched Creta Electric. MG Motor’s showcase of the compact yet practical Comet and the stylish Windsor family crossover further highlighted the industry’s shift towards EVs. Tata Motors made a bold statement by displaying two units of the Curvv EV—one at their main stand and another at the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) pavilion.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, made a powerful statement by arriving at the event in the Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV). He reiterated India’s progress under the National Green Hydrogen Mission during his address. With five pilot projects already underway—including 37 hydrogen-powered FCEV and hydrogen-ICE buses and trucks, and nine hydrogen refuelling stations set to go live—India is rapidly positioning itself as a global leader in hydrogen mobility
The expo also served as a fertile ground for intellectual exchange. Panel discussions brought together policymakers, industry experts, and innovators. Technology firms also seized the opportunity to showcase their contributions to the mobility ecosystem. Infineon Technologies India Pvt Ltd, a global semiconductor leader in power systems and IoT, presented its latest innovations, highlighting the critical role of advanced electronics in the future of mobility.

As the event drew to a close, it was evident that the 2025 Smart Mobility India Expo had once again solidified its position as a vital platform for collaboration, innovation, and learning. The convergence of EVs, alternative fuels, and AI-powered mobility solutions painted a promising picture of a sustainable transport future tailored for every Indian.
Looking ahead, enthusiasts and industry stakeholders should mark their calendars for the next Smart Mobility India Expo, scheduled from 23–25 March 2026. It promises to bring even more groundbreaking innovations and strategic insights as India advances on the path to Aatmanirbhar mobility.
