When I reviewed the new Samsung Z Flip7, I was slightly disappointed to see how little had changed from the Flip6. While still a decent phone, it lacked the kind of updates that make you reach for your wallet. Now, it’s the Fold7’s turn to prove what it’s got, and right off the bat, things look rather promising.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 Design & Build: Size Zero

If there’s one thing Samsung has absolutely nailed with the Fold7, it’s the design. From its sleek proportions and high-quality finish to that pristine Jet Blue colour, this is one seriously charming device. Even after using it for over a month, I still can’t wrap my head around how thin this phone is. When folded, it measures just 8.9mm thick, and when unfolded, an incredible 4.2mm.

Of course, with that level of sleekness comes a bit of stress when handling it. Opening the Fold7 requires more force than feels natural, and getting a proper grip can be tricky. Placed flat on a table, the prominent camera bump lifts the top-right corner, making it wobbly, which is mildly annoying but can be easily fixed with a good back cover.

Battery capacity remains unchanged at 4,400mAh, but given the slimmer frame, that’s no small feat. It easily lasts a whole day with medium use, so no complaints here.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 Display: Big Just Got Bigger

Consuming media on the Fold7 is a delight. You now get a slightly larger 8.0-inch main foldable display (1968 x 2184p) and a 6.5-inch cover screen (1080 x 2520p). Both support 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+, and with loud, clear stereo speakers, gaming or binge-watching feels genuinely immersive.

The biggest leap, however, comes in the camera department. The primary sensor jumps from 50MP to 200MP – the same one found on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The under-display selfie camera has also been upgraded from 4MP to 10MP, while the 12MP ultra-wide now comes with autofocus.

Image quality is impressive across the board, but that 200MP primary sensor steals the show, producing superb detail even in tricky lighting. Thanks to the foldable form factor, you can also prop the phone up for long exposures or steady shots without a tripod. Video quality, too, is quite impressive in most aspects.

My only gripe? The telephoto lens still tops out at 3x optical zoom. At this price, Samsung should’ve gone with a 5x or even 10x unit – it’s a flagship, after all.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 Performance & Thermals - A Cool Customer

Under the hood, the Fold7 packs the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, paired with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage as standard. You can also opt for up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage if you wish.

The performance of the CPU and the GPU combo is simply stellar. It scored 2,717,989 in Antutu, 3,047 (single-core) and 9,332 (multi-core) in Geekbench, and 5,632 in 3DMark Wild Life Extreme.

In the real-world, the Fold7 handles multitasking effortlessly. Unlike the Flip7, it stays cool even during extended gaming sessions – after half an hour of play, I only noticed a gentle warm patch on the back cover. That’s impressive thermal management for a foldable phone this thin.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 Pricing & Verdict - The Price of Luxury

Samsung has taken a meaningful step forward with the Fold7. With bigger displays, a far superior camera system, and a genuinely wow design, it no longer lags behind other flagships.

However, all that brilliance comes at a steep cost. The base Fold7 starts at ₹1.75 lakh, while the top variant costs ₹2.17 lakh. So, do I like the Z Fold7? Absolutely. But would I like it even more with a lower price tag? Without question.
