VinFast promised India speed — and it’s delivered. In record time, the Vietnamese EV maker has fired up a brand-new plant in Tamil Nadu, rolled out its first models, and unveiled an ownership package aimed squarely at winning over one of the world’s most competitive markets.
India is the first country outside Vietnam where VinFast has set up manufacturing, underlining how seriously the company views this market. Spread across 400 acres in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, the new facility represents an investment in both scale and speed. At launch, the plant can produce 50,000 vehicles annually, with scope to ramp up to 150,000 units. Once fully operational, it will employ between 3,000 and 3,500 people directly, laying the foundation for VinFast’s long-term growth in India.

The first beneficiaries of this plant will be Indian buyers, who now get access to the VF 6 and VF 7 premium electric SUVs. These models are spearheading VinFast’s debut in the market and have been tailored to deliver what local customers expect — style, technology, range, features and peace of mind.

The VF 6, starting at ₹16.49 lakh, offers an ARAI-certified range of up to 468km. The larger VF 7, priced from ₹20.89 lakh, stretches the range to 532km. Both benefit from VinFast’s global design partnerships, sharp styling, and interiors that prioritise connectivity and safety.
Having sampled both in Vietnam earlier this year, our takeaway was simple — these SUVs feel modern, solidly built, and loaded with features that Indian customers will value. From spacious cabins to an intuitive digital interface, they deliver a premium EV experience without pushing the prices into luxury-only territory. In a segment crowded with global players, the VF 6 and VF 7 make a strong case as fresh, credible alternatives.
For any new brand, convincing buyers to take the plunge is about more than just the product. VinFast recognises this, which is why its ownership ecosystem is designed around reassurance and convenience.

Every VF 6 and VF 7 comes bundled with three years of free maintenance, lowering running costs from day one. Public charging at V-GREEN stations will be free till July 2028, making long-distance EV use genuinely affordable. To ease range anxiety, VinFast has tied up with Global Assure to provide roadside repairs and mobile charging vans — a crucial service in a country where charging infrastructure is still maturing.
Long-term durability has also been addressed head-on, with vehicle warranties of up to 10 years and battery coverage for 8 years. For Indian buyers, these assurances make VinFast stand out as a brand willing to back its products with confidence.
The Indian automotive market is famously competitive, but VinFast has entered with clarity and conviction. It has built a plant, launched products, and rolled out an ecosystem in record time. More importantly, it has recognised the concerns of first-time EV buyers and addressed them directly — from charging anxiety to service support.

As the VF 6 and VF 7 reach Indian customers, VinFast’s “Vin-ing Formula” looks simple yet effective: combine world-class products, Indian manufacturing, and customer-centric ownership. If the early momentum is any indicator, this could be the start of a new success story in India’s fast-evolving EV landscape.
