Since bailing out of a largely unrewarding stint in the FIA European Formula 3 Championship, Arjun Maini has scored points in all but six of the GP3 Series races he has contested in starting from the third round of the season in Silverstone. A second place finish in the Sprint race at the Hungarian round has been the highlight of his participation so far and the 18-year-old from Bengaluru followed it up with a seventh and fifth place finish in the two races at Hockenheim on Saturday and Sunday.

An additional boost to Maini's campaign in the lower of the two official Formula 1 feeder series has been the announcement of two-wheeler OEM TVS announcing a 'long term sponsorship deal' with the young Indian racer.

While TVS is a two-wheeler company, it has a reputation in domestic circles as the automotive company most committed to participating in and supporting motorsport in India. The company has made its presence felt on the international motorsport scene through a collaboration with French company Sherco at the Dakar Rally. At the 2017 edition of the fabled rally-raid, it will field an Indian rider in Aravind KP.

The company's deal with Maini has the potential to be a win-win situation for both parties as it will give the company further exposure on motorsport's global stage and Maini can be assured of getting some help in bearing the costs involved in being fully prepared in the competitive junior formulae leading up to Grand Prix racing.
