Mitsubishi took the top spot at the 30th Asia Cross Country Rally 2025, narrowly edging out Toyota after a week of close, tight racing. Toyota started strongly with its Hilux leading the opening stages, but Mitsubishi managed to turn the tables later to claim the overall victory. The battle between the two teams remained intense right up to the finish line.
One of Toyota’s key drivers was India’s Sanjay Takale, who teamed up with Thai co-driver Keerati Noijard behind the wheel of a Toyota Hilux. The pair played a crucial role in keeping Toyota in the hunt for the podium, despite facing early challenges on the demanding course.

Their toughest moment came on Day 2, when Takale’s Hilux hit a ditch that caused a tyre to blow and puncture. Matters worsened when a wheel nut snapped during repairs, further delaying their progress. They were unable to complete that leg and received a penalty, which dropped them to the back of the field.
The setback, however, did not end Toyota’s campaign. Takale launched a steady recovery across subsequent stages, climbing gradually through the field and restoring his team’s position among the leaders. By maintaining a consistent pace, the Toyota crew was able to recover ground while limiting further risks on the demanding route.
