The 2026 Formula 1 grid is finally taking shape, and Cadillac has made it real with the reveal of its first F1 car. The covers came off at General Motors’ Hudson’s Detroit headquarters, where GM President Mark Reuss introduced a special monochrome testing livery. Cadillac has gone with a bold monochrome finish using gloss and matte geometric patterns across the bodywork. This 'dazzle' design helps hide aerodynamic surfaces from rival teams during early running. With major changes coming under the 2026 rules, teams are keen to protect ideas, and Cadillac is clearly playing it safe from day one.

The project also highlights the people behind the scenes. Cadillac has placed the names of key team members from its US and UK operations directly on the car. This detail reflects the scale of work needed to launch Formula 1’s 11th team. The focus in Barcelona will stay on system checks, reliability, and basic integration rather than lap times.

Dan Towriss, CEO of Cadillac Formula 1 Team Holdings, said: 'Cadillac Formula 1 is committed to innovation on and off the track. TWG combined with General Motors allows us to rethink the norm and introduce the team in bold new ways. Debuting our race livery during a globally televised championship broadcast challenges convention and brings Cadillac Formula 1® to a global audience. Paired with this special-edition testing livery designed by the GM Global Design studios, we’re honouring automotive heritage while looking ahead as we build toward the 2026 season.'

The Barcelona Shakedown at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will allow controlled mileage before full pre-season testing. Engineers will evaluate cooling, electronics, and overall system behaviour. Fuel loads, tyres, and running time remain limited, keeping performance comparisons off the table.

While this testing livery has already caught attention, it will not be the final look. Cadillac plans to reveal its full race livery in early February ahead of pre-season testing. The team will then continue preparations for its debut season in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship, marking a new chapter for American involvement at the top level of motorsport.
