Oscar Piastri claimed his third Formula 1 victory at the Shanghai International Circuit, turning his debut F1 pole position into a dominant win. His teammate Lando Norris finished second to secure a McLaren 1-2. This result boosted Piastri's championship hopes after a disappointing race in Melbourne. George Russell delivered a solid performance for Mercedes, finishing third and completing the podium. Max Verstappen overcame a poor start to finish fourth, holding off both the Ferraris which were later disqualified after post-race inspection.

Liam Lawson had a tough race in his Red Bull, finishing 12th. The Kick Sauber duo of Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hulkenberg endured a challenging race, finishing towards the back. Yuki Tsunoda, in the other Racing Bulls car, had to make an extra pit stop due to front wing damage, dropping him further down the order. Fernando Alonso’s race ended early due to brake issues, forcing his retirement.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, along with Alpine’s Pierre Gasly, were disqualified after the race due to technical infringements. Leclerc was excluded for running a car below the weight limit, while Hamilton’s Ferrari was disqualified for excessive plank wear.

Gasly was also removed from the final classification for the same rule breach as Leclerc. The disqualifications reshuffled the final race standings, altering the points-paying positions and impacting the championship battle.
