Mercedes has confirmed its driver line-up for the 2026 Formula 1 season, ending months of speculation within the paddock. George Russell and Andrea Kimi Antonelli will remain teammates as the sport moves into a significant technical overhaul. The decision combines experience with emerging talent at a time when teams are preparing for F1’s new hybrid regulations. Both drivers have played important roles in Mercedes’ current Constructors’ Championship campaign, and the continuation shows the team’s focus on long-term consistency rather than mid-term changes.

Russell will begin his fifth season with the works team and his eighth in Formula 1. After progressing through the Mercedes junior programme, he joined the Silver Arrows in 2022 following three seasons with Williams. Since then, he has taken five race victories and delivered regular points finishes. His experience, feedback and understanding of the car have become key strengths for Mercedes as it continues to challenge Red Bull and McLaren for podium positions.

Nineteen-year-old Andrea Kimi Antonelli will enter his second Formula 1 season after showing steady improvement during his rookie campaign. Mercedes sees Antonelli as a central part of its future and has rewarded his development with another season in the cockpit. His pairing with Russell offers a practical mix of youth and experience heading into the new era of competition.
