Lando Norris pulled off a clever and hard-fought win at the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix, using a one-stop strategy to turn around a tough start. Dropping from third to fifth on the opening lap, Norris didn’t panic. Instead, he managed his tyres well, stuck to his plan, and slowly worked his way back. When it mattered most, he retook the lead and held on to bag his fifth win of the season. The final laps saw a tense battle between the McLaren teammates. Oscar Piastri, chasing another win, kept the pressure on. Their on-track fight highlighted McLaren’s strong form, and with this result, Norris cut Piastri’s title lead down to just nine points as the F1 paddock heads into the summer break.

George Russell gave Mercedes fans a moment to cheer with a sharp late move on Charles Leclerc to take third. Leclerc, who had surprised many by taking pole, led the early stages but slipped back after Ferrari’s strategy calls didn’t pay off.

Further back, Fernando Alonso brought home more points with a steady drive to fifth for Aston Martin. Sauber’s Gabriel Bortoleto impressed once again in sixth, just ahead of Lance Stroll. Liam Lawson grabbed eighth for Racing Bulls, while Max Verstappen managed to salvage ninth for Red Bull after a scrappy race. Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli rounded out the top ten with another strong performance.

It was a frustrating day for Lewis Hamilton. A strategy gamble by Ferrari to start him on hard tyres didn’t pay off, leaving him short on grip early in the race. Despite trying to fight back, Hamilton could only finish 12th, marking another difficult chapter in his 2025 season with Ferrari.

Elsewhere, Nico Hulkenberg finished 13th for Sauber. Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon followed in 14th and 15th, while the rest of the field—Esteban Ocon, Yuki Tsunoda, Franco Colapinto, and Pierre Gasly—had quiet runs. Haas rookie Oliver Bearman was the race’s only retirement.

With the Hungaroring race complete, Formula 1 now heads into a well-earned three-week summer break. The action returns at the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort (29–31 August), where Norris and Piastri will pick up their championship fight once again.
