Lando Norris Ferrari F40

Lando Norris's Ferrari F40, valued at around USD 2.40 million, was recently involved in a crash in Monaco. The McLaren F1 driver was on holiday at the time and not behind the wheel. A widely shared video shows the rare supercar spinning out of control before hitting barriers, causing significant damage to its left rear. The Ferrari F40, one of only 1,311 units produced between 1987 and 1992, is a highly prized collector's car. While Norris was seen driving it in Monte Carlo during a shopping trip in December, the identity of the driver during the crash remains unknown.

The F40’s turbocharged engine, known for its immense power, may have contributed to the accident. Turbo lag, which delays power delivery, can easily catch drivers off guard. Thankfully, early assessments suggest the car’s structure is intact, with damage limited to the left rear and possibly the driver's side rear wheel. Fans of Norris and Ferrari enthusiasts are eager to see this iconic supercar restored.

The Ferrari F40

The Ferrari F40, launched in 1987, marked Ferrari’s 40th anniversary and was the last car approved by Enzo Ferrari before his passing. With a lightweight carbon fibre and Kevlar body, a 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, and a top speed of 323km/h, the F40 was designed for pure performance. Its large rear wing and sleek, aerodynamic design highlighted its motorsport heritage and focus on speed.

Unlike modern supercars, the Ferrari F40 offered a raw driving experience by excluding power steering, ABS, and advanced electronics. This stripped-down design prioritised performance over comfort. The F40’s minimalism and racing-inspired engineering make it a standout in Ferrari’s history.

Ferrari built only 1,311 F40s, making it a rare and valuable collector’s item. Its iconic design, link to Enzo Ferrari, and status as a high-performance masterpiece have cemented its place in automotive history. Today, the F40 remains a symbol of Ferrari’s passion for speed and a benchmark for performance-focused supercars.
