Cal Crutchlow Pole British GP
LCR Honda rider Cal Crutchlow grabs pole for the home gran prix ahead of Movistar Yamaha's Valentino Rossi and Suzuki Ecstar's Maverick Vinales at Silverstone.

Buoyed by his maiden victory at the Brno GP, Cal Crutchlow carried forward his momentum at Silverstone as he went on to clinch the pole position for his home British GP. Crutchlow put a masterclass of a lap in the tricky wet conditions during the final qualifying session, which put him ahead of Valentino Rossi of Yamaha and Maverick Vinales of Suzuki in 2nd and 3rd position, respectively.

As was the case in the race at Brno, Crutchlow took advantage of wet conditions yet again and charged up early on in the final 15 minute shootout. He put a sensational lap time of 2’19.265 to put the pole in his kitty while everyone else was struggling to find pace or traction. Rossi was the only rider who was within a second of Crutchlow’s pole time. Vinales, who’d been pretty quick all through the dry sessions earlier on, managed to grab the final spot on the front row.

Dani Pedrosa’s last minute charge saw him displace his teammate Marc Marquez to 5th position. Marquez, however, suffered from a huge high-side crash moments after putting his fastest lap of the session. Joining the Honda duo on the second will be Eugene Laverty. At one point, Laverty was the only one who seemed to have an answer for Crutchlow's pace, although he crashed out on what was looking to be the fastest lap of the session. His compatriot Scott Redding will start 7th in the grid, followed by Andrea Iannone and Jorge Lorenzo.

Weather forecast suggests that it’s going to be a sunny and dry tomorrow at Silverstone, so, expect more shake up in the order during the race.
