Ducati has announced it will field four factory-spec GP26 bikes in the 2026 MotoGP championship, giving more riders access to its latest technology. Alex Marquez will step up to ride one of the GP26 machines, joining factory stars Marc Marquez, Francesco Bagnaia and Fabio Di Giannantonio. The fourth GP26 will go to Gresini Racing, where Alex Marquez is signed through 2026. Ducati rewarded him for consistent podiums and race wins that keep him second in the current standings. The move gives Marquez full-factory support as both parties aim to build on their success.

In the battle for second place in the championship, the ex-Moto3 and Moto2 champion is ahead of Marc’s factory team member Francesco Bagnaia by 93 points.

Alex Marquez said: 'It’s an honour to be racing on a factory bike with Team Gresini. The team has been working impeccably for a few seasons now, and I believe this is a reward for everyone — for myself and the whole team. This is another step forward towards our dreams and doing even better in 2026. I’d like to thank Nadia, the team, and of course Gigi and Ducati, who have made me feel important at every moment.'

Luigi Dall’Igna said: 'Alex Marquez’s season has been impressive. After a series of evaluations, Ducati Corse has decided to further increase our support so that the rider and his working group can continue to grow. Álex is making the most of the Desmosedici GP’s potential, and we are convinced that, with new updates, next year we will continue to improve together. This will be an added value for the whole Ducati family.'
