Marc Marquez's hopes of winning the 2025 Americas MotoGP ended in disappointment after he crashed while leading the race at COTA. The Ducati factory rider had set a lap record in damp conditions but lost control on lap nine. His crash ruined his chances of claiming an eighth victory at the circuit. Francesco Bagnaia took advantage of Marquez's misfortune, grabbing the lead and winning the race.

Bagnaia's win cut the championship points gap between him and Marquez. Alex Marquez and Fabio di Giannantonio completed the podium. Alex Marquez's second-place finish pushed him to the top of the championship standings. Despite bike damage, Marc Marquez tried to continue but retired a few laps later.

Ducati's dominance grew stronger with Bagnaia's win. He finished two seconds ahead of Alex Marquez, who secured his third straight runner-up result. Franco Morbidelli, Jack Miller, and Marco Bezzecchi rounded out the top six. Jorge Martin, still recovering from an injury, watched from the sidelines, preparing for his Aprilia debut in Qatar.

Maverick Vinales, last year's COTA winner, had a tough race after being pushed off the grid. Lorenzo Savadori, filling in for the injured Martin, raced for Aprilia, while Augusto Fernández made his MotoGP debut, replacing Miguel Oliveira. Ducati's winning streak continued, with its last defeat being Vinales' 2024 COTA victory for Aprilia.
