MotoGP Jorge Martin

In an exciting battle with defending champion Francesco Bagnaia, Jorge Martin of Prima Pramac took first place at the Sachsenring MotoGP in Germany, diminishing Bagnaia's advantage in the championship. Jack Miller of KTM claimed the lead in MotoGP at the start of the German GP sprint race, but pole sitter Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati quickly regained the lead, and Miller dropped to fourth place. Jorge Martin of Pramac Ducati also moved up to second, passing Luca Marini of VR46 Ducati. Miller finished fourth, after KTM teammate Brad Binder, while VR46's Marco Bezzecchi finished sixth, behind Pramac's Johann Zarco and Aprilia's Aleix Espargaro. Alex Marquez of Gresini Ducati and Fabio Quartararo of Yamaha completed the Top 10, with Maverick Vinales of Aprilia close behind. Martin managed to go around Bagnaia again in the front-running battle for the MotoGP race lead.

Martin took the lead from Bagnaia on lap 3 of 30 going into the last turn. Unlike on Saturday, though, the Pramac Ducati rider was unable to get away, thanks to Bagnaia following his every move (just outside the tyre heating area) and a large pursuing group, with Luca Marini at the head in third. Like in the Sprint, Miller's teammate Brad Binder was looking at the back tyre of the VR46 rider, but on lap 10 he completed a move that may have earned him a podium spot.

In the next lap, Binder's Saturday rival Johann Zarco relegated Marini to fifth place, setting up a rematch of the two drivers' epic last-lap sprint clash. with 12 circuits to go, Binder went wide at Turn 9 and crashed out at high speed. As a result, Zarco climbed to third place, over Marco Bezzecchi.

MotoGP Deutschland GP: Marc Marquez withdraws from German GP

MotoGP Marc Marquez

Marc Marquez has withdrawn from today's race despite being medically cleared to return to action after his latest crash in the 2023 German MotoGP weekend, which fractured his finger. The eight-time world champion, whose 11-race undefeated streak at the Sachsenring ended with a disappointing eleventh place in the Saturday Sprint, was obviously hurt following his Turn 7 highside.

This was the HUGE crash that brought the red flag at the end of P2

On Friday, at the terrifying Turn 11 Waterfall bend, Marquez's rear tyre let go and almost catapulted him off the bike, visually illustrating his growing impatience with the continuous risk levels required to operate the RC213V.

Since Misano 2021, when Marquez last won a race, nearly 600 days had passed. After experiencing several rear-wheel scares during Saturday's Sprint race, Marquez decided to miss the race. Consequently, Marquez will not be competing in the German Grand Prix, just like Repsol teammate Joan Mir (hand injury) and LCR's Alex Rins (broken leg).
