MotoGP: Marc Marquez Switching to KTM? Here's What the Honda Rider Said

Marquez began the 2023 season injury-free for the first time in years, but he suffered a hand injury in the season opener in Portimao. He has yet to finish a grand prix this season, and at this moment, his chances of winning the championship are little to none.

On the fourth lap of the Italian MotoGP race at Mugello on Sunday, Marquez fell out of fourth position. Repsol Honda's rider hasn't finished the last four grand prix races he's started, and he's missed three races due to injury. As a result, Marquez's already slim championship ambitions in 2023 have suffered another devastating hit after just six rounds. It will also raise further concerns about Marquez's future with Honda. Even after employing a new Kalex chassis, the Japanese manufacturer does not seem to be any closer to offering him a competitive bike. Honda's problems just keep piling up. After Alex Rins injured his leg in an accident during the sprint race on Saturday, Joan Mir was forced to withdraw from both races this weekend due to a hand injury.

MotoGP: Marc Marquez to Switch to KTM?

Much discussion has taken place over Marquez's future in the paddock. Marquez has the largest contract in MotoGP history, yet he is stuck with the underachieving Honda team until the end of 2024. Pol Espargaro of Tech3 GASGAS has a contract till the end of 2024, as do Brad Binder and Jack Miller of KTM's factory team. Six times a premier class winner, Marquez is currently 30 years old and has a terrible injury history.

Many people believe that with Marc's recent struggles with Honda machinery, he will switch to the KTM factory seat. Marc, though, recently said in an interview that he still believes Honda can become better and fight for the title. The Japanese manufacturer has defied expectations and helped Red Bull win many Formula 1 titles, therefore this is why Marc made the statement.

For the first season in years, Marquez started 2023 injury-free, but he injured his hand in a collision with Miguel Oliveira on the opening weekend at Portimao. He still hasn't completed a grand prix this season, and at this point, he can very well forget about winning the title. In the next German MotoGP at Sachsenring, one of Marquez's all-time favourite tracks, he will be competing against his fellow riders.

Closed public roads near Chemnitz, Germany have hosted car and motorcycle races since the 1920s, and the practice continued as late as 1990. However, in 1996, it was deemed that the five-mile track through such a heavily populated region was no longer appropriate, and a new circuit was constructed five miles west of Chemnitz.

Although primarily utilised as a driver instruction facility and road transport safety station, Sachsenring has hosted MotoGP since 1998 and has undergone several renovations, including a significant layout upgrade in 2001. It's one of the slowest courses on the schedule due to the abundance of tight bends, but the racing is always intense.
