Porsche has taken the covers off its new 911 GT3 R, a track-ready upgrade that’s all set to compete from the 2026 racing season. Built on the Type-992 911 GT3 R, this updated version focuses on making the car easier to drive and handle in different racing conditions. Whether it's sprint races or long-distance endurance events, the is built to deliver consistent performance. One of the biggest changes in the 911 GT3 R is its revised aerodynamics. Porsche has added new vent ducts on the front wheel arches to manage airflow more effectively. A revised double-wishbone front suspension helps reduce body tilt when braking. There’s also a 4mm Gurney flap on the rear wing to improve downforce and updated rear axle parts for better balance. The new Bosch ABS system promises better braking at high speeds.

Several changes have come from feedback shared by Porsche’s racing customers. These include stronger cooling for the hydraulic power system, new ceramic wheel bearings for longer life, and better cooling for the rear brakes—ideal for races like the 24 Hours. Inside the cockpit, airflow has been improved to help drivers stay comfortable during long stints. The engine stays the same—a 4.2-litre flat-six that can deliver up to 557bhp, depending on race regulations.

If you already own the 911 GT3 R, Porsche is offering an upgrade kit. Buyers can also choose from optional packages, including endurance kits, sensors, camera systems, and pit lane connectivity tools. These extras let teams fine-tune the car to suit different race formats.
