Spanish Rider Carles Falcon Dies After Motorcycle Crash in Dakar Rally

Carles Falcon, a Spanish motorcycle rider for TwinTrail Racing, passed away over a week after a tragic crash occurred during the Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia.

A tragic announcement has been made by the TwinTrail Racing team on the demise of Carles Falcon, a Spanish rider who was involved in an accident during the 2024 Dakar Rally. The terrible situation occurred a few kilometres from the end of the special stage from Al Henakiyah to Al Duwadimi on January 8 for Falcon, a competitor in Dakar for the second time. Even though he received aid right away, the 45-year-old Falcon still needed to be flown to Al Duwadimi Hospital for more treatment.

Unfortunately, Falcon broke five ribs, his left wrist, his collarbone, and the C2 vertebra, which led to cerebral oedema. The Spanish rider's tragic death was confirmed by his team on Monday.

The team said: "This Monday, January 15th Carles has left us. The medical team has confirmed the neurological damage caused by cardiovascular arrest at the time of the accident is irreversible.

"Carles was a smiling, always active person, who enjoyed with passion everything he did, especially motorcycles. He's left us doing something that was his dream, running the Dakar. He was enjoying he was happy on the bike. We must remember him for his smile and for the happiness he created in everyone.

"Computer Engineer in training. Motorcycle instructor and motorcycle tour guide by passion. There are many who have learned by his side. He taught with patience, energy and happiness, made everyone enjoy the bike. This is what he has left us and we will always keep with us, all of us who have been close to him, family, friends, teammates and supporters.

"From the family and the team we ask that privacy of the farewell ceremonies taking place over the next few days. Thank you for your understanding."

The race organizers extended their heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Carles Falcon as a gesture of sympathy and support during this difficult time.
