<p>Ather introduced their revolutionary Magic Twist regenerative braking system with the 450 Apex, a limited edition model. Then they brought traction control with the Rizta and now, you get the best of both worlds with the updated 450X…and also the new Apex. I got a chance to test out the Magic Twist and the updated traction control system on the new scooter at a go-kart track and even on some off-road patches. So, how good is the 450X now?</p>

<h2>2025 Ather 450X Review: New Modes and Regen</h2>

<p>The first thing I want to highlight is the multi-level traction control system. While the Rizta had a simpler on-and-off toggle, the new 450 scooters get multiple levels — Rain, Road and Rally. You can also completely switch it off if you want. As one would expect, the traction control system is the most active when you select Rain while Road is meant for daily usage.</p>

<p>In the Rally mode, the traction control is a lot more lenient and it allows you to kick up some dirt. We tested the modes on some loose sand and it worked really well. There is an appreciable difference when testing the scooter in extreme conditions. While the 450X, does not really need a traction control system, it is good to see it nonetheless.</p>

<p>The 450X still gets the same 8.4bhp motor that is capable of producing 26Nm. It is still just as fun to ride and just as responsive too. Ather has introduced a new set of tyres from MRF&nbsp;with the updated scooters. These tyres have been developed specially for the 450 and are meant to offer more range while not compromising grip. And I must say, that I hardly noticed any issue with the grip from the new rubber. Combined with the new regen braking, this setup is claimed to substantially increase the real-world range of the scooter. As per Ather, the TruRange of the 3.7kWh model has gone up from 105km to 130km. That is a healthy boost and we will be eager to test it out when we have the scooter for a longer time.</p>

<p>What I do feel is a missed opportunity is that there is still no ABS. I think adding ABS over traction control would have been more useful. I did find myself locking the brakes a couple of times when on the track. While you may argue that people ride more gently on the road, let me remind you that the conditions out there can be rather unpredictable. Also, now that the 450X supports traction control modes and regen levels along with ride modes, I think that Ather should display them on the screen as well. This would help the rider in knowing what levels of various settings the scooter is in, rather than having to dig deep into menus.</p>

<h2>2025 Ather 450X Review: Colour Options and UI Updates</h2>

<p>Ather has not changed any aspect of the scooter’s design so it remains the same as before. There are, however, two new colour options available now - Hyper Sand and Stealth Blue. I particularly like the Hyper Sand colour options as it has a nice finish and looks rather refreshing. As a bonus, if you get this colour option, you will not have to worry about the scooter looking dirty because of the shade.</p>

<p>The new 450 scooters also get Atherstack 6 as part of the software suite. The instrument cluster is the same touch unit and is packed with features. However, the response is still lethargic when you use the map screen. There are noticeable stutters while you pan around. I also noticed that while most of the interface operation is smooth, there are the occasional hiccups and moments when the screen does not react as quickly.</p>

<h2>2025 Ather 450X Review: Is it better?</h2>

<p>Altogether, the 450X remains a smart and fast scooter that is more feature-rich than ever before. I feel the Magic Twist is a great addition and one that will find a lot of daily use. The traction control might be less useful but is a good safety feature still.</p>

<p>As for the pricing, it has gone up ever so slightly by Rs 6,400 for the base 450X and Rs 2,000 for the 450X with the bigger 3.7kWh battery pack.</p>

<h2>Ather Updates Battery Warranty for its Models</h2>

<p>Ather has introduced an 8-year or 80,000 km warranty that covers battery degradation beyond 70%. Called the Eight70TM, it can be transferred to a new owner if the scooter is sold. This warranty also safeguards against issues like deep discharge, which can occur if the scooter is not used for extended periods. Additionally, it includes free labour charges for any warranty-related repairs. Before this, the EV manufacturer provided&nbsp;a 5-year or 60,000 km warranty for new customers who opted for the Pro Pack.</p>

<p>Commenting on the occasion, Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy Limited, said, 'Battery durability is a crucial factor for EV buyers. We often hear about customers' apprehensions regarding the longevity and replacement costs of the batteries of their electric scooters. Understanding this concern, we have introduced our new Eight70TM Warranty, which provides 70% battery health assurance for up to 8 years. We believe that this warranty will eliminate any worries and concerns EV buyers may have regarding the long-term health of their scooter batteries.'</p>


Ather 450, Rizta Electric Scooters Get New 8-Year/80,000 Km Battery Warranty

The extended warranty by Ather also safeguards against issues like deep discharge, which can occur if the scooter is not used for extended periods.

<p><strong>autoX Awards 2024: </strong>After launching a slew of 450 scooters, <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/ather/">Ather</a> introduced the Rizta – a versatile electric scooter designed for the whole family. The idea was simple – build an electric scooter that’s feature-rich, spacious, and practical. And Ather successfully brought the idea to life.</p>

<p>Although I am not a fan of the Rizta’s design, for it looks rather odd from certain angles, it does have a remarkably long seat – long and comfortable enough for two people and a large bag. And if you need more space, there is also a cavernous 34-litre compartment under it – one of the largest in the segment and spacious enough to house a full-size helmet. The 7-inch instrument cluster is not touch-enabled, and the UI is also simpler compared to that of the 450X. You get a joystick to navigate through the menus, and while there is nothing wrong with that, we did notice occasional lags, which somewhat marred the experience.</p>

<p>The Rizta is available with two battery options – 2.9kWh and 3.7kWh, both of which are paired with the same 5.7bhp motor delivering 22Nm of torque. Even though it does not come with the signature Warp mode, seen in other Ather offerings, the scooter is fairly quick for normal usage.</p>

<p>On the track, however, it was surprisingly one of the slower vehicles in our line-up partly due to its top speed being limited to 80km/h. That said, its suspension is well-tuned, which offers a remarkable riding experience on the road and it absorbs undulations and bumps better than many other scooters. It also comes with variable regeneration (Magic Twist) and a traction control system and the former is actually quite useful and works brilliantly.</p>

<p>That said, we did notice a slight dip in terms of the Rizta’s overall quality compared to other Ather models – nothing alarming, but a step down nonetheless. Lastly, opting for the bigger battery and all the fancy features brings the price close to that of a 200cc motorcycle, which naturally detracts from its value-for-money appeal.</p>

autoX Awards 2024: Ather Rizta Performance, Quality and Value for Money Ranked

autoX Awards 2024: The Ather Rizta's suspension is well-tuned, offering a remarkable riding experience on the road and absorbing undulations and bumps better than many other scooters.

<p>Ather Energy recently filed a&nbsp;draft red herring prospectus (DRHP)&nbsp;with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for an initial public offering (IPO) worth Rs 3,100 crore. As per DRHP, Ather has plans to use around Rs&nbsp;927.2 crore of the net proceeds of the IPO to establish an electric two-wheeler factory in Maharashtra (India)&nbsp;and to support ongoing research and development efforts. This development comes after Ather's rival Ola Electric went public with the&nbsp;IPO last month. <a href="http://www.autox.com/new-bikes/ola/">Ola</a>, the country's largest electric two-wheeler manufacturer, is currently readying a&nbsp;portfolio of four electric motorcycles, with plans to begin deliveries of the Roadster bike in Q4 FY2025.&nbsp;</p>

<p>DRHP filed by Ather also reveals that it is developing a new EV (electric vehicle)&nbsp;platform,&nbsp;'Zenith'. This new platform will be the basis for upcoming electric motorcycles competing against the 125cc-300cc petrol-powered models. Though specifics of these upcoming vehicles are yet to be revealed, expect the company to bring in its first electric motorcycle as a mass-market offering, intensifying competition in the country's electric motorcycle segment.</p>

<p>The&nbsp;electric motorcycle segment, currently dominated by&nbsp;only a few Indian manufacturers (Ultraviolette, Revolt, Tork), is yet to&nbsp;pick up steam as the segment is still very nascent. With motorcycles&nbsp;accounting for about 63 per cent of the Indian two-wheeler market,&nbsp;electric motorcycles are believed to offer a&nbsp;compelling opportunity for Ather to&nbsp;invest in the expanding EV market. By&nbsp;the end of this decade,&nbsp;the EV penetration in the motorcycle space is expected to hit 10 per cent, according to <a href="http://www.autox.com/new-bikes/ather/">Ather</a>.</p>

<h2>Ather's EL Platform for Electric Scooters: What You Need to Know</h2>

<p>Not limited to motorcycles, Ather's upcoming scooter range will also use a new EV platform, which the company says is more versatile and cost-effective. Called 'EL', the new platform will include a new chassis, powertrain, and electronics, but it will carry over the battery elements and the Atherstack from the Ather 450 platform.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Ather also said that the EL platform will allow it&nbsp;to develop a broad&nbsp;range of electric scooters that can be tailor-made for&nbsp;various domestic and international markets. Ather has yet to disclose the date for the launch of the platforms. Nevertheless, we&nbsp;know that the models based on new platforms will be manufactured at Ather's&nbsp;upcoming facility in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.&nbsp;</p>

Ather's New Platforms in Development, to Underpin Upcoming Electric Motorcycles and Scooters

Ather's Zenith platform will support its upcoming electric motorcycles, while the new scooter lineup will utilise the new EL platform.

<p>Within a month after rolling&nbsp;the first unit of the Rizta scooter&nbsp;off the assembly line at the manufacturing plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, Ather Energy has finally started its deliveries. A glance at the company's social media reveals that the deliveries of the family-oriented Rizta have begun in Ahmedabad, Pune, Delhi, Lucknow, Agra, Jaipur, Nagpur, and across Andhra Pradesh, with the rest of its dealer network to follow soon.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Based on the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/ather/450x-gen-3/">Ather 450X</a>, the Rizta comes in two variants&nbsp;– S and Z. The former,&nbsp;available with a 2.9kWh battery, is priced at Rs 1.12 lakh,&nbsp;while the latter can be had either with a 2.9kWh or a 3.7kWh battery, with prices going from Rs 1.27 lakh to Rs 1.47 lakh. <h2>Ather Rizta: Battery, Range, Top Speed</h2>

<p>As mentioned, the Ather Rizta comes with&nbsp;two battery&nbsp;options&nbsp;– a&nbsp;2.9kWh pack and a 3.7kWh unit. The former yields a claimed IDC range of 123km, whereas the latter offers an IDC range of 159km on a single charge. However, in the real world, the numbers stand at 105km and 125km, respectively.&nbsp;Both battery packs are IP67-certified and are mated to a mid-drive motor, which produces 5.76bhp and 22Nm of peak torque. The Rizta has a claimed top speed of the scooter 80km/h.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<h2>Ather Rizta: Charging</h2>

<p>You even get&nbsp;two charging options – a&nbsp;350W portable home charger&nbsp;and a 700W Ather Duo charger. The&nbsp;former charges a 2.9kWh&nbsp;battery pack from 0 to 80 per cent in 6&nbsp;hours and 40 minutes, whereas the latter charges a 3.7kWh battery from 0 to 80 per cent&nbsp;in 4&nbsp;hours and 30&nbsp;minutes.</p>

<h2>Ather Rizta: Hardware and Other Bits</h2>

<p>The&nbsp;<a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/ather/">Ather</a> Rizta uses the same main frame as the 450 models. It has&nbsp;an underbone chassis, suspended by&nbsp;telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock. For stopping power, it uses a disc-drum braking setup, accompanied by a combined braking system.&nbsp;The Rizta rolls on 12-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 90/90 front and 100/80 rear tubeless tyres.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Features-wise, buyers&nbsp;get either a&nbsp;7.0-inch colour TFT screen or a DeepView&nbsp;LCD, depending on the variant selected. Also, there is Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn&nbsp;navigation, two ride modes (Smart Eco and Zip), auto hill hold, a reverse mode, FallSafe,&nbsp;a traction control system, an emergency stop signal, and an under-seat wireless charger. A&nbsp;wide range of accessories is also on offer, including a 22-litre frunk and a pillion backrest.&nbsp;</p>
