The Honda CB500X has quickly gained popularity in India ever since its launch. The ADV tourer may not have the most impressive performance figures on paper, but Honda Motorcycles and Scooter India have outdone themselves with this one, and you have to be in the saddle to believe it. Honda is known for its state of the art refinement, and the Honda CB500X is the prime example of it. Technology aids are next to nothing, and the features are pretty basic, possibly even analogue. But in engine refinement, rider comfort, and all-around experience, the CB500X truly takes the cake. Albeit at quite an unreasonable price point. Read on for more information.

Honda CB500X Exterior Details

Right off the bat, it's easy to see the Honda Africa Twin influences in this middleweight ADV tourer. The sleek design of the bike and tall visor, the larger front rim and the angular shapes of the tank are dead giveaways of the influence. The sleek angles of the fairing work well for the CB500X since it helps the motorcycle not be top-heavy and hence a lot more manoeuvrable, unlike its competitors in this segment. The size of the ADV tourer isn't too big but isn't too small either. And at 199kgs kerb weight, it is possibly one of the lightest ADV tourers in the country. The Honda CB500X's dimensions come in at 2156mm length, 828mm width and 1412mm height.

Honda CB500X Engine & Transmission

Power responsibilities lie with a 471cc parallel-twin engine that produces 47.5bhp at 8500rpm and 43.2Nm of peak torque at 6500rpm. The engine is the most popular aspect of this motorcycle, as the power delivery is linear throughout the rev band. Experts have even gone on to say that the power delivery of this bike is perfect for Indian road conditions. Power reaches the rear wheel through a 6-speed manual transmission. The large 17.7-litre tank in pure Honda fashion offers a respectable mileage of 25kmpl.

Honda CB500X Handling

The Honda CB500X gets basic telescopic suspension on the front. However, it gets a significant amount of suspension travel, 150mm to be exact. A Honda PROLink monoshock suspension handles the rear. The off-roader misses out on spoked rims, but probably for the better since the alloys allow for tubeless tyres. In what seems like an Africa Twin influence, the bike gets a 19-inch front rim and a 17-inch rear rim. Stopping power is provided by a single 310mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc. The bike also gets dual-channel ABS.

Honda CB500X Features

Although the Honda CB500X looks smart and gets a good fit and finish, it doesn't get a lot of features. The entry-level premium ADV gets a dual-channel ABS that isn't switchable on the rear. On the other hand, it gets a decent LCD screen, and the LED headlight, taillight and indicators add to the premium look and feel of the bike. The display shows a lot of information, including the elusive gear position indicator (in most middle category motorcycles), engine temp indicator and ABS indicator, besides the usual information.

Honda CB500X Price & Variants

At a price point of ₹6.87 lakhs (Ex-Showroom), the Honda CB500X is quite expensive as it comes in through the CKD route. It is a bit too close in pricing to ADV motorcycles in the next segment. The starter ADV comes in a standard variant and two colourways, Grand Prix Red and Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic.
